Hello Ryan, thank you very much for taking the time to work on this complete and impressive tutorial and letting us use it for free. I loved creating the pie with you and I feel like I learn something new with each of your videos, even if I obviously couldn't reproduce the models and renders all by myself yet. I hope you're having a perfect fall and I can't wait to watch the rest of your autumn playlist 🍁🥧🍂
I actually only came here in search of clues for how to do a good pie / pastry crust material, but I stuck about for the whole thing; this is fantastic work. A great example of a slow tutorial that still manages to get to the point; no needless waffling, but a lot of explanation of your thought processes and what everything is contributing to the final effect. Very nice!
The weaving gave me difficulties at first, but I'm finally done, and it turned out near identical. Usually, I add my own flair, but I decided to simply complete this tutorial for the sake of practicing.
I think I'm going to follow your tutorials and no one else's until i'm proficient at blender. I have tried so many others but they are inconsistent, skip a ton in their videos, and their channels are chaotic and unorganized. Yours is perfect. Keep it up! :D
@@RyanKingArt I have a question. So I got to the spot where you added all the modifiers to the pie crust and got very confused because mine was very thin using the same solidify values as you and I was wondering if maybe I had missed a step? I'm so happy with how responsive you are on your channel, thanks a lot!
I finished your tutorial on the Apple Pie....it was alot of fun. It took my computer 6 hours to render the final picture of the Pie. wow. I posted to a Blender site....and forgot to give you the credit for the scene....I caught alot of flack about that.. grin. I went back and edited my post. Dude, I think your tutorials are the bomb... Thanks again my friend.
I have been using substance painter to texture my work for few months because I had reached a block with details in Blender. but after seeing so many possibilities with procedural material in your tutorials I'm beginning to think I should do all of it in Blender again and then just bake the textures once it's done. lot of wiggle room that way and possible late adjustments. Thanks Ryan. at first glance this looked hand painted but your procedural material is top notch.
This tutorial helped a lot! I actually had modeled an apple pie but with just a bunch of slightly deformed cubes, but this made it look so much better, thanks! Also re-suggesting a cooked turkey material👀
Brilliant. Thank you so much Ryan. You are a genius 😃 I really appreciate your tutorials as your explanations cover many levels of experience and are easy to follow. This tutorial covered many areas of Blender in the one project - long, but sooo useful. Your knowledge of 'things procedural' is impressive. Cheers G.
Ive been trying to make time to do this one since before xmas and finally got down to it! great work , informative and importantly well paced to follow without excessive stop starting, Thank you.
Hi Ryan, as you can see, I haven't forgotten about you. Unfortunately, it is not possible for me to work with Blender until further notice. Because of an eye surgery. However, I'll check in with you to see what new stuff you've done. And that is quite a lot that you have made. Since I want to thank you for all your super good tutorials. I mean that you are really getting better and better. Thanks again. I wish you still a lot of fun with your hobby Blender.
I've been using Blender for 8 years now, and I love it. There is 1 thing that still stumps me though, and that's the nodes Math, Vector Math, and Mix RGB. Each of these 3 nodes have options on there like add, multiply, fraction, ping pong, etc. Sadly, there are NO tutorial videos as to what these options can do for you. I looked all over the place for 1, bit to no avail. Can you explain, or better yet, show, as to what these options do, and how we can use them for node editing? PLEASE?
Hello sir, i recently discovered your channel, and instantly became fan of work, i am currently working on a project and i need moss texture in it, so pls make a video on how to make moss texture, thanx in advance. 🙂🙂
As a cook, I will say, your pan (for metal), was still a bit too thick, though it was good for ceramic. The only issue there, is you were missing the lip of the pan, where is where the edging of the crust normally goes. Really looking good, still adjusting some of the lattice, but it's close... XD
Amazing educational program. However, there are problems in the application with modern versions of the program, especially in the parts related to raw materials, as some functions are not located in the same place or with the same name.
I'm more of an engineer than an artist, and I tend to model to scale from the start. So I don't usually run into any problems with this topic. But I do wonder: Standard Blender is set to "1 BlenderUnit = 1 meter". So that apple pie dish is a nice 3.5 meters - or 11.5 feet - high. Doesn't that present problems later with stuff like SSS, or general lighting?
Yes actually your right. I should model things to scale. I need to make that a habit. I just always forget because I've been using blender for over 6 years and never really modeled things to scale, so I never think about it. I will try to do that in the future.
Having an issue at around 54:42, making the apple chunks pop out. When I plug in the Vornoi Texture (the bottom one, with Distance to Edge) into the Displacement node, it adds height not to the chunks but to the edges. So the pie filling looks like it has bubbly scars instead of apple chunks haha. Any idea what the issue is here? Using Blender 3.6.
Is there any reason why you used denoise in the compositor rather than in the render bit within "Sampling" in the right hand panel? You have "Denoise" checked for the viewport but not for the render.
You know.. You've done stylised apples in Blender, and you have done many food materials.. Do you think that you might be ableto make an apple material video? I've tried it myself, but it didn't really work because the gradient used object coordinates and those went to low in the little dimple at the top.
There is also, as a matter of fact, a mode called x-ray mode, which can be toggles either by the small button (it is next to the wireframe icon in the top right, it looks like two squares overlapping), or the shortcut alt + z. it allows to switch from a pseudo-wireframe (maning that the faces still have the graying color of solid mode or of material preview mode, but they have become"transparent" and you can click on other vertices through those faces, much like a colored wireframe mode. It cannot be rendered unless synthesized with a material.
@@RyanKingArt Thx for answer, the mode of scale the plane with "g" when use the mirror modifier anyway i finish the video, many many thx, 1 thing : try and try and nothing and for a extrange reason cant make the bumb work, always all mi models are super flat , for example your model of meatball dont work for me but in the form, the shape the final result was a perfect sphere, why do wrong , please
For a bit more smoothing of your color ramps switch the linear over to smooth. Otherwise I really am impressed and never seen ping pong used so it was nice seeing a practical situation you'd use it in. Thanks for your videos Ryan.

Is there any reason why you used denoise in the compositor rather than in the render bit within "Sampling" in the right hand panel? You have "Denoise" checked for the viewport but not for the render.
you can use the render denoise if you'd like. I just find that the denoise node in the compositor is faster and works better.
I'm in blender 3.6.7 and ctrl+b putting a box around the camera doesn't do anything in my version? NVM I found out I needed to click "render region".
LETS EAT!!! :)
