  • Hey Folks! HD.Adventuring again, this week with a virtual tour of our Expedition Truck. We're building a camper on the back of a Mitsubishi Fuso FG140 4x4, and are excited to take you on a virtual tour of our design. While it will still be a few months until our box is built, we've had a bunch of people ask what the camper will look like- we hope this tour of our CAD design helps to answer questions.

    Wow. I’ve watched this after stumbling on your actual “2 weeks built” video. Great job. I now wanna gather accustomed with this software. Amazing to see the built went as planned in 3D ! Cheers

      Thanks! Yes, there was a ton of planning and prep before the build, which made it doable on such a short timeline. Sketchup is great- relatively easy to learn but has it's quirks!

    How exciting, can't wait to see it all come together! It's nerve-racking planning out a whole house build and trying not to forget anything. It looks like you guys are all over it. well done!

      Thanks! Yes, not easy doing this planning- there are many things to fit into a very small space! But we've been enjoying ourselves. Box goes on in two weeks!

    Hello from Canada. I'm building expedition truck from a Fg140. I have building and traveling experience, would be good if you want to discuss about the build. You can add the fuso on sketchup via '3d wherehouse" and all other think like sink and fridge. For more technical things I use Fusion 360.

      Hey! Cool to hear you’re building on an FG140 too! Do you have a link to your build? I didn’t realize the warehouse had a Fuso! I’ll be sure to add it, that would have been great for this video!

    Nice to see you are following your dream, good luck on your build. I am in the initial stage of selecting the truck between Fuso vs Isuzu and Hino for my expedition journey. It will be nice if you can share how you determined to finalize the Fuso, and where you purchased the truck and who converted it to 4x4 for you. If you do not mind sharing the price for a base truck and 4x4. I will appreciate your help sharing anything which can help me.

      Thanks! We chose the Fuso because in the U.S. it’s the only cab over style truck that came stock with 4x4. So we didn’t need to convert to 4x4! We found it on FB marketplace for around 35k. Best of luck on your build!

    Love the concepts, and the mock up idea. What are the box dimensions?

      Thanks! Box will be roughly 15 feet long by 8 feet wide

    Iwould suggest bigger toilet and shower space and somehow increase the efficiency of space utilization in the garage. Why two windows on the bed wall? It will be too hot and too bright as soon as sunlight hits.

      Thanks for the thoughts! We want a lot of room in the garage for gear(bikes, ski gear, paddle boards, etc. we likely will build some organizers in it when the time comes! We went with Artic Tern windows, so hoping that they don’t let too much heat in. They also have build in blinds to keep light out. We do have a lot of windows, but we love natural light, so hoping it pays off!

    Very nice cabinets and counter top. 👍 good layout. I like how you are setting up the garage 🤙
    Will you do a video on where you got the composite boards and roughly the cost?
    Have you decided on what type of subframe? Spring ubolt vrs zero torsion subframe?

    • @HD.Adventuring
      @HD.Adventuring  Рік тому +1

      Thanks!! We likely will do some sort of video on the cost of the rig. All in we’re hoping to come in under 100k, which is a ton of money, but compared to a fully built Sprinter or Earthroamer is cheap! We’re building the subframe and box with Overlander Global, feel free to reach out to Allan there about the panels we’re using. The subframe will be ubolts and springs.

      @@HD.Adventuring We are trying to do the same. Thought the zero torsion subframe was the way to go but it costs alot more and works best on short boxes.

    • @HD.Adventuring
      @HD.Adventuring  Рік тому +1

      @@livingworkingoutsidebox We went back and forth on subframes. Allan has built a number of this style, and hasn't had any issues- So we decided to go with that experience!

    Hi. Be careful adding too much weight at the very front of your box (ie.the water tank/s against the front wall) - the Fuso has a front axle load rate of 2800kg, and in bare cab- chassis form it's already at 1950kg.

    • @HD.Adventuring
      @HD.Adventuring  Рік тому

      That’s a really solid point. Sounds like we need to do some math!
