    I am almost in tears after watching this. I was keto for 5 years. Surpassed my goal weight of 140lbs to 132lbs. I fluctuated a little and transitioned to carnivore. I've gained 30lbs and have been wondering what I was doing wrong. I have been carnivore for 2 years, eating mostly 1lb beef for lunch, maybe 4 eggs, and a ribeye for dinner. Occasionally fish and chicken. I was hitting between 150-190g of protein. I may lose half a pound when I keep my protein but drop my fat to below 30, but feel horrible. You hear from many different people to up your protein and lower your fat, to lose weight, but this has not worked for me. I looked back at my macros when I was the skinniest and realized that I do think my proteins levels are too high. I am going to try dropping down the protein to 90-96g daily and upping the fat and see how this works. This gives me hope to lose the 30lbs I gained and to hopefully maintain.

    Thank you Judy! That makes sense. My sugar levels are super high, despite eating low carb/no sugar for almost 2yrs. So that is a bit frustrating and I haven't lost any weight; I've been gaining and I am the fattest I've ever been in my life!! Ha!😄😭 (I'm getting an A1C done tomorrow, my oncologist was concerned). I figured it was all hormonal, due to the total hysterectomy I had done 3 yrs ago, which set off early onset menopause and it's side effects . My body has gone thru a lot(stage 4 colon cancer survivor, going on 3 yrs 😊), and I know it'll take a while until I heal and see some results. Not giving up on this way of eating! Thanks again!

      I had to go under ,10g of carbs (only from non starch veggies) to see my glucose down significantly Took almost a year to go from 9.5 A1c to 5.6. this last yr , carnivore , zero carbs and my A1c now between 4.9- 5.2. Some of us are more insulin resistant. I too had cancer 11 yrs ago so you can only tremendously benefit from this woe. I have lost 80 lbs. to date with 30 to go.

    It took me 5-6 months to finally figure out I was eating way too much protein and not nearly enough fat. I didn’t sleep a whole night through that whole time. People just kept saying it’ll happen. Umm no. Started hearing about high fat carnivore and started playing around with that. I switched to 60 grams of protein and at least 170 grams of fat and sleep so good now. But too much protein has now made me hypothyroid, high glucose and very leptin resistant with now 20lbs to lose. There’s a lot of really bad information in the carnivore community.

I didn’t get to sleep until 5 am the first night, (morning really), and no sleep last night. I got tired of trying to sleep at 6am and I got up for a few hours. I took 1/2 an Ambien and ate a few carbs at 10am and went back to sleep until about 5pm. I can’t do this every night. I already had a sleep disorder where my brain wakes up 300+ times a night. It is a wonderful feeling when you can eat all that and now longer need enzymes. I never knew that kind of life could be possible. I feel what helped me the most was eating without liquids that dilute my stomach acids. Plus I am on microbiome labs products which are something you have to start off slow with as well. I'm glad you're putting this information out there. I got very sick having too much protein and not enough fat and totally wrecked my gut on carnivore when all I was doing zero carb for was trying to lose weight. Even now if I fast more than 10 hours a day for not even 2 weeks I'll completely lose the ability to sleep. It's so hard coming back from this because hormones and the gut don't get fixed fast and I wish I had never heard of the carnivore diet, but I think it's great that you're helping people understand how to do it right so that they won't crash and burn like I did.

      @TrinaRaysTrekofLife 7 місяців тому

      Here are some things that worked for me. (NOTE: I didn't do all this as a beginner, I'm about 7.5 months in.)
      1. Adding butter to my coffee. (Yes, some Carnivores don't do coffee, but I am one that does. Lol)
      2. I make steak, and then let it "rest" for 10 minutes with a tablespoon of butter on top, tent it in foil for the 10 minutes. Then, I cut up the steak, place it in a bowl, and pour the butter and steak juice over it. 😋 I then eat it with a spoon to include the yummy fats!
      3. Add 8 slices of bacon (and bacon grease) along with the meal above, into the bowl.
      4. Pork belly!!! (plus the juices) I was still struggling to get enough fat, then I discovered PORK BELLY! This was KEY for me! I actually added 6oz Pork Belly to the bowl/meal above and that's been the perfect meal for me for the past 3 weeks! 😂
      I hope something here helps you.

    The older you get the worse protein uptake % will be. Research (ref. Dr. Gabriel Lyon) shows that with increasing age you need more protein to keep the same lean mass.
    Personal experience with my father who was (badly) advised to reduce protein due to stage 3 CKD, is that 0,8g per lb is far too low. Since going ketovore & increasing protein CKD has improved. Unfortunately too late for some issues to reverse caused by low protein.

      It's your gallbladder and liver. I'd recommend doing a gallbladder and liver flush and potentially even some coffee enemas. Most "flushes" recommend going all plant based before the cleanse but I don't believe that's necessary at all. Our livers become backed up with stones before our gallbladder does; with that said, you want to focus on detoxing those two organs first. Eating a SAD sadly has ruined many people's abilities to digest fat (and fat soluble vitamins) so when we go to carnivore or a more biologically appropriate diet, our bodies struggle. Good luck. It's been hell for me.

      @@erbaker22 Well smartass everyone is different. With that said, just because you stopped the hot poos after six months doesn't negate what I or the other person had said. Usually people go Carnivore because their health has tanked; they wake up one day with some form of dysfunction and/or disease and realize they need the carnivore diet. All those years of bad eating and lifestyle habits lead to an overburdened liver. The liver and gallbladder at the point in time most people go carnivore, is trashed. The flushes are crucial to true healing when going carnivore. Before you make light or fun of comments, just try to look into some of the science.

    Just wondering if you eat the amount thats in the table (600g ribeye + 33g butter) which is 'just' a 57% fat? Of are you eating really 75% fat? Honest question.
    I don't know why but the calculation seems of.
    How do you get to 75%??
    171 / (171+126) = 0,5757 * 100= 57%
    When adding 4 tablespoons extra butter i would say thats an additional 4*11 =44g
    => makes fat total 171+44 = 215 => 215g (fat_tot) + 126g (protein) = 341g ==>
    percentage of fat 215/341 = 0,63 => times 100 = 63%
    To get 75% fat and 25% protein means imo that you have to take the protein amount times 3 in fat, because the protein needs to be 25% of the 100% to be able to get 75% fat. That would mean 126*3 = 378g of fat would be 75%.
    378 - 171(ribeye 138g+ 3 tbsp butter for 33g) = 207 grams of fat required on top of the 171g. Guessing each tbs butter = 11g (33g/3). Meaning 207/11 = 18,81 extra tables spoons of butter to get to 75%.

Should I drop my fat calories to allow my body to provide that fat? Or stick to these macro ratios for weight loss? (I don’t know what my ratios have been, probably too much protein)

    So can you point me to research that shows we need to follow the .8 grams to retain muscle mass? This is not to be argumentative. I'm a research person and want to know how that was figured out. When you say that you will eat even when not hungry to keep your metabolic rate up, that means we don't trust satiety? Hope you take these questions in the spirit they are written. Thanks Judy.

      There's no good research on that from what i've seen. Hormones build or break protein and ketones are very protein sparring, i think even with .5g you can build muscle easily if you get enough micronutrients

      @@sabincioflec8413 Thanks. I'm seeing examples of others in the community that are building muscle on lower protein. So many voices out there!

    I like your video and I think it was helpful, but to be honest, men can never get a six pack abs if they eat only 30% of their calories from protein. Just look at dr. Ted Naiman and other natural bodybuilders, when they are on a cutting phase they get up to 50% of their calories from protein. Sometimes even 60% temporarily.
    Your macros are good but they don't work for men who want to get ripped and ultra-lean.

    What is a healthy fasting blood glucose range for carnivore? I'm averaging 90. Is that too high? Lowering protein isn't making it budge much.

      Thanks for providing that link... I am really beginning to question why eating has become so complex.
