Feedback please on: Added Combats; one? both? none? Voice Quality; I started this video while having breathing problems, and I am much more hoarse, scratchy, and a few moments you might be able to hear me having to clear my throat. How noticeable and/or distracting was this? Talking Faster; I went a little more zoom zoom with my speech, and felt like I bounced around more recklessly. Noticeable? a problem? Skipped Spells; I went over why we would turn down other spells, how useful was that?
I like both combats. The part in which you talk about the spells is nice, maybe you can shorten the segment down to: this is the worst luck version of the deck, with instructions about which cards to cut first if possible. And then a list of cards you should pick if you get them as rewards.
I really like the card analysis. Do you think the same math for holy cards would work with an Ottis dps? Also, what woudl you think of Bree replacing magnus in this team and taking the "thorns does holy damage" talent?
The combats were nice! They go quick as there isn't much need for explanation, just pew pew. I didn't notice voice quality issues. We're always our own harshest critic. The one bit I'd like you to add is a moment where you say 'I'm not going over the cards I've chosen for the other characters, but I'll click on their lists so you can see what I've done with them. Just pause on each one if you'd like to look carefully.' You can do that in 5 seconds after showing us the main DPS' cards, and that will help with getting a full idea of what you're grabbing. Thanks!
Hi deckertech. Really like your video. I agree with kyle k that some kind of „here are the other heroes decks“ would be nice but maybe your planning to do a own video about each of them. A spontaneous idea i had is that you could create a playlist for each team you present. So you could put the (future) DD-Andrin, heal-reginald, support ewelyn and „tank“-magnus videos into one playlist and name it e.g. „the usual suspects“ or simply „starter team“. This DD-Reginald video could be the beginning for a team/playlist called e.g. „Deus Vult“ or simply DD-Reginald. Again thanks for your videos and keep up your good work 👍.
You're easily the best across the obelisk UA-camr and I hope your channel, as well as this beautifully crafted game get the attention they deserve. Keep it up homie.
Something really crazy happened to me. I saw you in my dream because I wanted to let you know I obtained corrupted lightbringer for Reginald and pwned all enemies even when I didnt know who you are or how do you look like or answer. You looked like a generic dude and told me something along the lines "thats good, buddy, keep playing". I saw many of your videos and my gameplay improved much with your guidance. I believe I will be able to hit maxx difficulty someday... So many thanks and keep up your good work.
Love you're videos. I just have two suggestions that would help me when trying to use the builds you make. Suggestions 1 could you show in the team comp section really quickly each of the characters perk selection for like 5 seconds so we can see the ideal perks that work with the comp. Also when you show the different act decks could you show the deck of each character for a few seconds to see what cards you are using. Thank you for all you're hard work i look forward to seeing more of your videos!
Of course! I will work something like this out. Sometimes for clarity I will spend more shards on the highlighted character than I would to keep the team rounded out, which is why I have been avoiding showing the other decks in the past. In future videos I will find some middle ground though and show off the whole team long enough to pause and take a look. (the next two videos are already scheduled, but the next ones I record will keep this in mind).
@@deckertech-aaron thank you so much for considering my suggestions. Yeah im just lost on how to build Otis and magnus to best work with this type of build and the decks that go with it. New players probably even more lost lol i have 100 hours already and man am i still learning so much from you. Thank you have a wonderful day!
Another awesome guide sir! You make these characters look so easy to play. As for the format I think you're on the right track. One or two combats is good. The one thing I would say is to not feel rushed, longer video formats (up to an hour) are just fine because you've got the time markers for people to jump around to if needed. I don't know if that messes with the algorithms to be honest so do whatever works best for channel growth (might be something to test) but I feel like you've got a good personality and silly you is a good thing. Hope you're not straining your voice with all these videos. I'm loving all the content tho and looking forward every new video. I'd love to see some full runs (even if they were just light commentary/self talking). Cheers!
Thank you so much! I think a full run on something like M12+ will be coming soon. I just haven't picked out the team I want to do it with first. Looking for something I know well enough to talk while playing, but not the same Regi comp I have done before (or silly sylvie).
Hey man, thanks again for these videos. Just got my first clear with the starter team thanks to your info! the twin fight is so brutal compared to anything else - even the ones following them i had no problem with. Had to reload the twin fight like 6 times to figure that one out (stacking burn and skipping cards fishing for big hits seemed to be key). Going for a no reload clear next before moving onto madness. Anywhoooo looking forward to digging into this game some more and will continue supporting!
Thank you so much! The Twins are definitely considered a DPS check, I think they have easily the least forgiving of enchantments. The Dawn enchantment even scales with HP, so it gets worse on higher Madness. Most of us don't let Dawn see the light of day... ;)
Love your guides! Reginald is such a good DPS, wow... I always hesitate to try using priest characters as DPS but Reggie really is a far better DPS than he is a healer. Did my second run with him as a DPS and with enough perks on everyone, he was usually clearing the field on turn 1.
Are you on twitch? I always throw my prime sub to someone like you that makes awesome content on a smaller channel. thanks so much for the videos, AtO has gotten most of my free seconds this week and you've added to the enjoyability of it a lot.
Thank you, this sort of compliment means a lot to me. I have not setup with Twitch. It's on the to-do list, but has a high spoon cost (overwhelming/time intensive).
Just add to the supporting cast. Pretty much do a quick 60 second run down on each one. Essentially the talent line, starting deck and the role. So pretty much a snapshot so you can get a better idea of how things function outside of just combat and what you are supposed to be thinking about with progression. Beyond that good job. The supporting cast doesnt need to be a full breakdown, really just snapshot it with kind of the idea that the character fills and how it does that.
liked the breakdown of cards, even if it took time its interesting to hear the thought process behind it. lets me also think about how i could include some of the worse cards if i just find them interesting or want to give it a shot lol. rather than just following meta builds and all
Great guide once again, this was a build I tried to run on my own after seeing your Evelyn support video, and yet again I see a lot of things to improve for myself. Personally I went by Ottis’ church while both Ottis and Regi were in my team, allowing me to pick up Ottis’ card on Regi, which was a mainstay throughout the run, what’s your opinion on that? Is it worth the opportunity cost of missing out on doing the suspicious hatch? As for the points you mentioned; Personally I really love seeing the combats, especially with how short they are, I think you nailed them. Showing an act 4 fight was especially good and I would love to see fights like that in future videos, too. (Particularly for damage characters and/or more complex setup builds) Personally I didn’t feel like the pace was too quick, nor did I find the breathing problems very noticeable, keep going! As for the one thing I would say is that you don’t need to apologize as much, you’re doing a great job, although even then the apologizing didn’t become frequent enough to be at risk of dragging down the video. As for the spells, I personally think it’s always great to know which spells are worth picking up, especially when purples can be hard to decide on and you normally don’t build around getting a purple, knowing which are worth considering and which aren’t. How many of certain card you want (and their roles) is paramount for the use of a build and I would definitely keep the spells in as a section. It also helps a lot that you explain why trap cards are traps. All in all, a great guide that somehow yet again managed to make an improvement to the formula. Ps. Congrats on 1k+ subs! You earned it!
Thank you so much! All the little improvements along the way have been from great responses like these that help me gauge how well certain parts are being received. I like the combats too, although I think I'll probably be saving them just for DPS or complex turns as you suggest. I already did the Ottis and Corn vids and was like "i dont know what to showcase". As for the card from the chapel, I can't find it in the ToK right now, but I recall it was real strong. If you're keeping it until the end, then it's probably worth skipping hatch for. The Regi team isn't picking up any of the Items from Belphy anyhow.
If you're still looking for video idea's have you thought about doing some shorts for getting the best perks for each role? I know you can get the info from the discord and there is a written perk guide out there, but UA-cam rarely answers such questions or can tell you what certain events do. I bet there are people out there for example who want to know the answers to those questions and they don't want a 20 minute Google search to get an answer!
I really like the idea of Shorts for each event! I will have to get my feet wet on how to make those happen. I should be able to make a 10 second version of Perks as well. Thank you so much.
I got this game last week and these guides are fantastic! I'm looking forward to the rest of the cast, and possibly alternative role guides for some characters if you continue making them. I have a couple questions, one general and one specific to Reginald. For the general question, how do you feel about the Carp card you can get in your deck from the fishing event in the first zone? It seems to me like its basically a blessing and I've been keeping it in my decks. For the Reginald question, its actually less of a question and more of a suggestion. If you have Ottis in your party and visit where where his quest starts, you can have Reginald get Atonement in his deck, which is essentially a free Sunbeam that vanishes. I found its absolutely worth picking up, but not sure if I'm missing out on some other good stuff in the starting zone by going for it.
I find the Carp fantastic, and all fishing poles are great items! For the Regi, I think the biggest issue there is that you skip out on all of the Hatch; definitely worth visiting Ottis's place for the card though. I try not to spoil all the little goodies in the game with these guides. I find the Atonement a solid card, but not Deck defining enough that I have to point it out. Leave something for folks to find. =) The exploration is one of my fav parts of this game. Good find!
The best Ripple is probably the Yellow one, and I would rather play the Blue Storm over it. The problem with Ripple is that it is only best on 2 targets, for 1,3,4 it falls behind other spells.
Have you tried the new characters on Across the Obelisk.... I know they are knew, but i was wondering if you had a favourite of tbe two new characters?
I have only played holy cat so far, been doing some M14-16 runs with her to make a guide. will do the dark one next. hoping to have a guide out by end of next week if life cooperates. Dark explosions are much more enjoyable to me than holy damage, so odds are I know which one will be my favorite in the end.
So far your guides have been fantastic. I’m watching this because although your Sylvie guide now makes her the best damage carry in the game imo now, Reginald was still the first heavy hitter I came across and I wanted to up my game. You explained why you take the 0 mana flashes, I take the card draw ones to get through my deck faster, do you not like that idea?
It's just a matter of Energy cost. Switch between the 0/1 cost flashes depending on if you can cast all the cards from your hand or not. If you are ever left with a spell in hand you couldn't cast, then the 0-cost would have served you better. Usually I start leaning into the 1-costs in Act 3 for when I get Holy Crusader and need to ensure I draw it turn 1.
@@deckertech-aaron is there a good pet for Reginald? I’ve been unlocking pets lately since Zek was the last character I needed (he’s super fun btw I’m gonna watch your video on him soon) and none of them really synergize with the holy damage playstyle. Not like Orby for instance who seems perfect for Ottis.
For Regi I find the best pet is actually betty. You just need a pet that has an attack, since it will scale with Bless. There is one MAJOR drawback of running an attack pet on him though. The pet attack can accidentally trigger enchantments on enemies you don't want to hit; like the ones that nuke your team or silence your hero. Betty silencing me had ruined runs in the past. If not an attack pet, then get pickup one of the AoE debuff ones like Oculy or Slimy to clear buffer from the enemies.
@@deckertech-aaron yes the reason I stopped putting Betty on him was she would always manage to hit that silence unit in act 4. Do you have any 7 cost spells you like running for any build? The only one I’ve made work so far is the upgraded whirlwind for grukli, but one of his cards reduces the cost of that anyway.
Only ones I can think of that I consistently use are Whirlwind and Ball Lightning. Malukah uses the 6-cost storm. I also don't mind running corrupted versions of some of the super healer cards that doing things like aoe bless. Usually I only pick those up if I have a lot of energy support or a Vampiric Tutor (whichever one is the Priest version).
Thanks, thats very valid. I think some of my later guides I started showing a very brief glimpse at each deck, trying to not take too long but still get them on screen long enough to pause and look. Any future videos will definitely find a way to include it. I also briefly made some shorts for some the the character builds. Maybe I will finish those out and add their links to comment/description for quicker access.
Would you mind explaining what you meant with having two people having the Sanctify Perk please? If Ottis had the choice perk of the left one (Charges that you apply +1), does that mean Reginald would apply one more Sanctify also?
Some perks affect the team as a whole, others do not. The +1 sanct charges is for that hero only, but the other one I mention (I cant recall name atm) affects the whole team. So your main sanct applier gets +charges, and the other person gets the team perk.
I am on my first time in act 4. Otis, Reginald, Heiner, and Andrin. My Reginald has a 3 energy cost Sanctification. The letters are purple and the diamond on top is orange/amber looking color. Deals 19 holy damage to all monsters and doubles Target Sanctify. Vanish. Is this the corrupted version? And should I keep it in the deck. Reggie my main DPS.
Purple letters is corrupted. I'd say give it a whirl and see if you are enjoying the results. :) I like to try all the big flashy cards at least once. Simply don't get baited into keeping cards just because of their rarity.
I made a team as your video's showing, but I couldn't even pass the MAD7 because in act1 and act2 I find it very slow to finish the battle, Reginald does little damage in the early game and it took several turns for him add up bless. Am I doing something wrong?
Making sure that you are casting Holy Smite often and early is key. Make sure that you have a small deck, and hopefully feed him some Inspire and/or Energize. A big factor will also be if you have unlocked the Bless Perk. I think it takes around 30 points to unlock it? That will be your biggest spike in Regi power, as long as you are casting a lot of Bless cards. Lastly, be sure to check the resists and Vulnerable stacking on the enemies. Making sure you are lowering their resistance as much as possible will be a very important part of your damage. I'm happy to troubleshoot this with you, let me know if any of this helps. When watching the Regi guide, be sure to compare the buffs/debuffs and let's see what is different in what you are experiencing.
@@deckertech-aaron Thank you so much for the reply ! I'm not sure what "unlocked the Bless Perk" means but I have 50 points and I just follow the perks in the video, I will play it for more serveral times.
@@deckertech-aaron Hi, Just want to thanks for the sharing! I have passed the mad7 by your building and it's really pleasure after Reginald get his third talent when facing the mob. But it stills takes me 7 turns to beat the last boss. Anyway, thank you👍
Do you think Bless stacking is in any way competitive compared to sharpness stacking? It feels like it's very hard to stack Bless while it is very easy to stack a lot of sharpness.
Your analysis is spot on. The issue with Bless is that I have made numerous videos of Bless stacking in the past. This led to a series of nerfs to all things Bless. Since I never got around to making Sharp teams back in the day it was overlooked. Sharp works exactly like Bless, and is definitely easier to stack (for the moment), especially with Gustav starting deck. Historically physical teams were by far the weakest because there was no way to lower physical resistances enough to compete with the other damage types (and some of us hadn't had enough time to explore Sharp builds and highlight their effectivness). So no, I do not think Bless stacking is that competitive with Sharp stacking. Hopefully that changes in a good way soon.
@@deckertech-aaron Since we are on this topic, what are your thoughts on mark/wet? It feels like it's even worse than bless because you can't scale that damage in any way or do you think it has its niche uses?
I haven't tested Wet yet this patch. Wet had some very powerful Perks, an unequal portion of it. So I think Wet may be competitive. Mark and Crack still look weak to me because of their lack of interaction with either Resistances or Powerful.
Right now is simply a matter of time management. I can make 3-4 hero guides with the same effort it takes to record a full run of any significance. I will make it a priority to do some gameplay soon. What part of gameplay are you most interested in? Me running a M12/14 and just talking through my strategy work?
@@deckertech-aaron I'm a type of person that likes watching streams so subjectively watching your run high madness is nice, but when you talk through your strategy and highlight some of the harder fights (and probably final boss) is objectively better

It would be nice to show the decks of the 3 other heroes, because Idk what to get on them
Thanks, thats very valid.
@@deckertech-aaron ok so it's because Ottis is my Sanctify champ and Reginald my Bless champ 🏆.
Yeah, they definitely fight over the chalice. In my opinion Bless is just harder to come by and more of a premium.
@@deckertech-aaron thanks for the fast replies and advice good sir.
Besides, is the holy smite the highest priority to cast when you don't have enough energy to play it all?
Anyway, thank you👍
The perk code did not work for me (one toughness point only). Love the videos!
I'll check the code next time I am at the comp. Thanks!
I wish you had entire runs recorded too
Right now is simply a matter of time management.
Hey man. If you're online wanna do a co op?
Not online atm. I might eventually find a way to be more accessible for co-ops.

Thanks!
Thank you so much! This is a fantastic help.
Thanks!
🥳 thank you!
no problem! My friends and I are using your guides and are pushing up the madness ladder :D@@deckertech-aaron
