Dude I’m having a rough time with this game. Memorizing each icon on the cards… what a charge is? Is that just your amount of moves? But I believe that’s “energy” not charges.I been waiting for this game forever on xb and I’m so discouraged right now…. I played so many of these games but this one’s a lot to take in…. Don’t give up right? It’ll eventually click right lol? And for the love of heyzues, what’s the meter under the character that goes from yellow to green and has a number next to it

late response, but tireless is considered an energy generation at turn start, so counts into the '-10 (re)gen' part of the item. basically you won't get the energy from tireless (unless breaking the 10 barrier).

Hey this looks great, thanks for sharing the video. I typically love the party and base management as much if not more than the actual combat gameplay in games like this. Just a shame there’s no Coop like ATO had - if there’s some keys still to spare it would be good to give it a go! Thanks again.

Way way many keys left, haha. For steam key requests, its probably best to make a new comment so that my YT app gives me a new notification. I completely forgot to say a bunch of the tips I had, I will definitely have to make a new video with just them. For now: 1-2 main parties is ideal, more just spreads you out too much. STR or INT each damage dealer, even DEX characters have their dmg based on STR. Each class has unique traits that are sometimes hard to see in the UI, the trainer class preview part has them (Bards dont use INT at all). I am sure there is more I missed... Have fun!

mainly nex spamming the single target heal with bless on it (name slipping atm), as well as late game gustav song of war
@@deckertech-aaron i tried essentially doing your nez video’s build but more skill focused and using divine power along with bless perks…worked out really well and I 1 shot almost every combat including the final boss. The 5 cost legendary single target attack is perfect to finish off the build if you can find it! I think 15 stacks of powerful at 10% each was a large contributor as well though.

This was a really great guide! Malukah's quickly become one of my favorites alongside Sylvie and Thuls. I had a question though: I've been running Malukah as Insanity+Dark. I'm not sure how "on hit," works in this game, but I've had the best time with the Terror Ring, and eventually a Singing Sword. Could also rock a Megaphone. Although the duplicate spell and cost 0 is awesome as well. The ring opens up Pandemonium, Hallucination, Mind Blast, and Spectral Missiles. It seems to grossly inflate the dark applications. Hallucination for instance... Let's say it's +5 Insane and +5 Dark. It applies the +5 Dark, and then applies +10 Dark from the Insane charges (+5 Insane, with the +5 Dark Charge Bonuses), on top of Malukah's level 2 talent; and eventually on top of the Singing Sword on hit effect (Which would also apply ~7 Insane as Dark charges, that would then be boosted by +Dark Charges). Every spell has 3 applications of Dark happening. At least that's how it feels it's been working? Unfortunately it's possible that I just can't notice with how quickly the Dark charges explode.
I can't look at all the specifics right now, but singing sword does an extra instance of damage, so it notorious for triggering things an additional time. I'm not sure if it's working as you described, but the template on singing swird is fairly unique, where it has that additional damage part up top. I think there might only be 1-2 other items that do it (i think i went into detail on them in the dps gustav video?). The status effects can chain, if you have insane causes dark and on-hit insane, then that is basically another set of on-hit dark. Exploding dark charges is very satisfying gameplay! edit: oh, i think i just understoid part of the question. if you have +2 insane, +2 dark, and you apply 1 insane, then that should net you 5 dark. At least it worked that way once upon a time. that interaction has changed a few times over the years.

Why is blackguard not good?
There are a couple of Zek's cards and talents that want Dark on Zek. It's not so much that Blackguard is never good on him, it's more that you have to be careful that you don't oops-ruin your run by preventing him from getting Dark stacks.
@@deckertech-aaron This makes sense, as I had a run recently where I got Blackguard and it felt incredible. I can see where it wouldn't be good though. Thanks for the quick reply and for your videos, I love to min-max and I've been having a lot of fun with team comps thanks to your vids!

Idk if this is relevant a year later with patches and all but if you take the perk where bleeds aren't applied until end of the turn, you can dispel his fury bleed a number of ways. Blue or purple blood for blood (not ideal for this build) Burning blood is the best. Turns your blood to fire and makes fury.
Yeah, that's definitely a fun way to build his deck. It existed at the time too, and I briefly mention it in my Bless Combo video I think. I felt like it was a little more risky and complicated than this version, but I may have been wrong. If I end up making another Grukli dps vid it will likely be the very consistent 2nd turn max fury version. Especially since you don't have to rely on anyone else to set yup up, which is more appropriate foe multiplayer.
Just unlocked Ottis. Brought him in for a game (He's now rank 11). I had watched a little of this previously. Enough to know he heals totally differently. I LOATHE this character. Holy crap. It was a miserable run. He would be more use as a plate of bacon with no stats. Sylvie, and Thuls play very differently from Andruin. That's no problem. Heiner plays differently from Magnus. That's no problem. I'm fine with a different play style. I couldn't figure out how to have fun with Ottis. Got to the last area, but it was miserable.
Sorry to hear. That's interesting though, because most ppl stick with Ottis for along time after first trying him. Any idea what you disliked? the shield heals part? or maybe his dmg spells split between fire and holy? For me, it's the noise he makes when damaged. I haven't rewatched this vid yet, but I know some of his cards have changed a little and are worse after perks were introduced.
@@deckertech-aaron Typed out a long response and ... google was google and it's gone. The healing feels incredibly weak. Very little ability to respond to burst damage. I don't have the ability to get all the perks. I tried to go in on the gimmick for the character. I put full points into shield. I could be wrong but it seemed like when a percentage of the shield is converted into heal .... things that increase heal modifier don't count. I wasn't seeing things trigger. So, a thing like ... bless/powerful/stealth which increases healing does nothing (from what I saw ... it isn't like there was text on screen that said "you shielded for 10 and then you healed for 2 plus your weapon for 2 plus your bless for 3 plus stealth for another 2" or whatever). Right? Things that said they would add the heal over time when you heal weren't triggering when the shield is applied and some is converted into a heal. I see equipment and things that benefit block. I don't see anything for shield (I don't have every thing that drops everywhere memorized). So, if you use the default healer .... it's easy to get things that ... increase raw heal (weapons, armor, jewelry, accessories). and bless increases heal. and powerful. and stealth. and it's easy to increase your heal over time numbers. and it's easy to have those trigger when you apply a basic heal where ALL of those things trigger at the same time. and you can use a heal to buff someone with bless and also heal them ... which can also heal over time them. And you can heal yourself plus another ... plus the heals over time. And you can heal the whole party ... plus the heals over time. Easy. Simple. Effective. Why would I want to bend over backwards trying to figure out how to make this other style of healing .... functional? Basic healing works. And, functionally there isn't much difference between shield and the heal over time. Prevent 15 damage ...vs take 15 damage and heal 15 health as soon as the turn starts without having to devote any attention to it. I don't have the perks to get all of the heal perks and also all of the shield perks and also get the other important healer related things. I have plenty of perks to get the heal perks, plus perks for heal over time and powerful and bless and speed and energy and also things left over to boost holy damage and on and on. I absolutely believe that it's possible to use this character in the highest levels of difficulty and my inability to get to the final boss in the basic difficulty is my own issue. But, I shouldn't have to have everything in the game memorized to have a character be functional. I shouldn't have to know .. go here and then here to get the tiny handful of gear specific to this character ... or maybe some pet I don't have meshes with him perfectly. Whatever the case may be. The other healer just works. It isn't just a change in healing play style. I applied the shields and I had the shield perks. I experimented with the cards and tried out different things and tried to blend in some basic raw heals. If it was a play style thing ... then if I had shifted to focus on the shield method of healing ... I should have been ... reasonably close to how I function with the basic healer. As soon as real damage started coming in the game was over. I felt like ... I could use the basic tank guy to put block on the party and prevent more damage than Ottis can match with his shields and the small amount of extra healing that happens. Hell, I feel like I can run the basic healer and spend about a third of my deck just on dealing offensive damage and still have plenty of healing available. It works. The experience with Ottis was miserable. Unfun.
@zero11010 i have had google delete my response more times than i can count. so frustrating. yeah, none of the heal perks or items help ottis shield/heal. and there are very few items that help his kit. the orby pet is a big power spike for him when/if you get that. 100% agree with stick with what you like, and that things in this game can be artificially overcomplicated. :P ottis gets around the half healing corruptor (decadence?), so that's one of his claims to fame as you push up the difficulty. He is definitely not a required character though. I personally prefer either version of Malukah healing to him. Best of luck in future runs. maybe feed Ottis to Hogger a few times. :)
@deckertech-aaron thanks for the input. I’m not giving up on him. I’ll try again at some point. But, my initial impression is that he’s trash. Not just less effective, but actually bad. That just may mean he’s more complex and I don’t understand enough mechanics to make him functional. Still, he’s an easy early unlock. Something people can get EARLY. So, I can’t have been the only player to feel this way. Can’t help but notice most of the achievements I get are things that 50% or fewer of the population have. It’s a sign that people didn’t really enjoy the game. I’m expecting to find more issues. I enjoy the core mechanics. I’ll keep playing. But, there are several game design decisions that have left me scratching my head.

Just got the game this week. Got to the final boss and I don’t really know how I’m supposed to beat it. I finished pretty much every single fight in the campaign in the first three rounds with an “excellent” score. None of the bosses were an issue. Final boss though? I think it had almost 1k hit points left when I died. Enough to where there was no reason to retry. My builds weren’t going to output that much damage in four rounds. I got to a second phase. I don’t know if there are more phases. You go from fights with a total enemy HP of about 600-800 to now a boss with 6k. It was pretty crazy. I’m not a fan of the jump in difficulty. If content leading up was harder and harder that would be one thing. This feels like artificial difficulty … like asking a player to find a thousand acorns hidden in the game … that’s just lazy design to try to keep (some) people engaged. That was my first time reaching the boss. Several other games didn’t get that far while I experimented with cards and mechanics. A non linear difficulty progression doesn’t make me want to keep playing. The options and events in the game are already obscenely overwhelming. I’m at a week of play on a year old game and most of these Steam achievements I’m getting are 50% and less of the player base who have done this basic stuff. So, it’s not a very popular game (I enjoyed it), and most people who have it spent less than 20-30 hours in the game. I don’t care for this design philosophy. I also don’t like that unless you keep a journal to write everything down (or play for hundreds of hours) there’s no way to know what’s going on unless you look things up online (poor design). Play 5 games …. 56% Spend 30 supplies on town …. 55% Kill the boss Ignidoh ….. 57% Upgrade 100 cards …. 48% Kill the boss DT-800 …. 24% With an all time Steam peak of 14k players 2 years ago and it normally sits at about 1k concurrent players.
Excellent summation on Archon (final boss), you really are playing two different games between normal fights and him. It is definitely an artificial jump. You may also have noticed that many of the Act 4 monsters have abilities that straight up hard counter certain strategies. Both archon and the hard counter Act 4 monsters are a result of Act 4 being added to the game after so many players were stomping the (then 3 acts) game in early access. A lot of Act 4 was influenced by the meta of the game at the time, sadly. When Archon was added there was a big push to get it to be an optional boss or extra event or such, so that you could complete a tun without it. The Dev was pretty hard set on having a "heart" fight like slay the spire. So now when we plan out runs we have to prepare for all the 'hallway' fights, and then for Archon separately. Usually I start pivoting my deck halfway through Act 3, once you get that level 4 power spike. In act 4 I end up adding 1-2 cards to my deck that I won't even use until archon, just because that's the last point to pick it up; then I have to make sure I have space to cut some of the hallway cards once your on the top floor. Very frustrating overall, more so because it didn't start that way. I normally just end my runs after the Twins, unless I am trying to 1-round the archon for funzies; because even a winning fight on Archon can drag out for so little enjoyment.
I picked this gem of a game up recently and have been messing about with madness. I gotta say that even with all the changes made, these videos have been extremely helpful to help me learn to play the game better! Thank you for the amazing content.
