I've used this guide back when I played AtO and beat Archon. Honestly, your guides with decklists and perks are what carried me through madness. Thank you Decker.
This was a great video! I had previously always cut twin scrolls. The interaction with twin scrolls, transcribe, and spell echo was super interesting. Thank you for showing the combat example, I really like those in your video showcases.
Thanks a lot for the video, I love this comp, probably the most fun I have tried so far. The "combat example" section is amazing, thanks a lot for adding that. So helpful to see how it works together.
I've been watching your videos extensively for two weeks, and it is easily the best across the obelisk content out there. Finally I realized that I had not done anything to thank you.
You're too kind! Thank you so much, this goes a long way. As is a common phrase in WoW: [Videos] are free, tips welcome. :) I'm never expecting anything in return. Ty again!
I noticed the vid was longer then usual only at the end haha, the example and explication were good. Keep the good work and I hope you feel better too. Wilbur didn't seem interesting when I checked him but now that I understand how spark works, I feel I'll have to try him when I have time!
my friend recently got into the game and we unlocked wilbur for him, i had never played wilbur but i went with big block magnus, energize cornelius with around 47 perks, and he a brand new player with wilbur and reginald, his wilbur was pumping
Appreciate all your guides! It really helped with the deck building at the first town as I was overlooking cost efficient cards like detoxify and your perk set ups are great.
I'm really enjoying your videos. I have to say powerful + sharp seems to be the key. 1 fighter + 3 scouts = Battle Shout/Ode of War/Chant of Accuracy + sweet melody on the 2 support scouts. The sharp builds up super fast and usually a full stack of 12 powerful with lots of mark on the intended target.
Your wealth of knowledge has made playing on high madness much easier, Thank You Decker. How about a DPS Grukli video? I've been having a lot of fun with him lately.
Grukli is on the to do list, but will be about another week I think. For now I suggest focusing on Sweeping Strike and Flanking Strike early, lots of fury and powerful, and as much inspire and energize to him from the team as you can. I really enjoy Grukli gameplay and hope to get his guide out soon.
Gustav is slated for the next team. After this next setup I will have at least one guide done for everyone other than Grukli and Thuls. Goal is of course to have 2 guides for every hero.
Hey man, I'm super happy to have these character guides to look into. I just beat the final boss for the first time and this game can get so muddied with possible combinations, its helpful to get ideas from these guides. Im about to look up if you have a guide for that fire mage, hope so xD
It's an older one, he was heavily nerfed shortly after. A majority of the strategy is still the same, just don't pickup most of the items from it. ua-cam.com/users/livebjBlIUJW_Us?feature=share I have a few highlight videos for him as well. Also a support guide if not a fan of the selfburn.

@@deckertech-aaron I totally understand, you do what you need to do ❤️ By the way that Lightning Ball combo is awesome. I never would've thought of that myself. Keep up the awesome content!
Love the vids, been very helpful in learning the game. I found the item/route discussion in this one especially useful, have you thought of doing a vid on the "good" routes and bosses for the best items/events in each biome .
I have an older video labeled "which way to go". I plan on remaking it now that the Blue Biome is out. I think eventually I will make a series of 5 videos where I discuss pathing in each zone and all the important items and events in them. lots of homework and prep for those videos, so I won't be touching them until I am done with all the character guides.
@@deckertech-aaron Thanks, I look forward to the rest of the character guides. I think I would have quit playing without your vids, I went from struggling at M4 to clearing the highest levels thanks to tips learnt from these vids.
Do you have to play around with baptism or bless with this comp? Are you gimping yourself if you just go with a standard Ottis healer? Great video as usual, always waiting for these to come out before I try new characters!
No need for Baptism in this comp. I was just testing changes to Wet and seeing how Baptism would fit in these days. That's why I didn't show Baptism in the video.
Probably Nez for the Fate talent card that allows Wilbur to cast Ball Lightning. Or Ottis for a safer team. Regi if you want to stack Bless, just keep Wilbur the lowest HP of team.
I have a few old ones posted. I also have a new one possibly coming out. What aspects of that sort of video are you most interested in? I have a few problems to solve with them. I lost a lot of energy in my most recent one because I didn't have sound setup correctly where I could have music playing but not get recorded on the stream. I also have to record in one sitting, so it's hard to find time blocks big enough to record. A bunch of little things like that. The more feedback I get, the better I can craft those vids.
Great vids 👍. I’m still new to the game but was wondering how come in some games I get to the last town there are gold items and other games there are not?. Like I had games where I didn’t have much money and there where like multiple golds and each time I rolled for more there where more golds and the time I saved to get golds none even after spending thousands of gold refreshing the store? Is there a mechanic behind it?
Loving the vids…. Possible note was wondering if you would be willing to make the deck to play and put it in your saved decks so we can see the shard cost for said deck in town one?
It's definitely worth considering. My biggest issue with that and making these videos in general is that I am showing a more expensive version of the deck than I usually run in order to find a middle ground on difficulties and starting resources. There are about 8 different levels of resources people will start a game with. I will definitely consider it, and if I do it would probably be me saving 3-4 versions of the deck at different costs.
@deckertech ya I can see how that could cause problems with adding length to vids and might clog up the start a little, but I love the idea of mult decks with different cards for starting people. Personally I don’t mind the adding of 5-10 min to the video for a more in-depth look into this kind of stuff. I do understand this may put more of a strain on you and wouldn’t want this change if it took you a lot more time. Either way will definitely watch the next one😀
I know you play completely spike but I'd love some vids on Timmy or Johnny decks if you've ever experimented that route? I don't get enough time as parenting gets in the way
I feel you misunderstand me. I am absolutely not a Spike. 100% a Johnny player. Don't let efficient plays and cards fool you. I am also here to teach and help others explore. I am the ultimate Johnny, because not only do I want to be creative and expressive, I would also like to encourage others to explore and be creative. I am the 100% biggest advocate of making ALL builds viable in AtO; which is exactly what me and the Devs argued about time and time again. I do not plan on showing off clunky or unbalanced cards because those limit your options. Once you start playing efficiently, then you have more space to cast those crazy overcosted Disintegrates and Ice Comets for the sheer joy of it. I will indeed be recording a Thorns playthrough as my first full gameplay video. Thorns is absolutely not in a competitive spot, but it's an enjoyable mechanic that people like to play. I hope that the more visuals I can provide to the devs about how imbalanced mechanics like thorns are, the more they will consider buffing Thorns and similarly non-meta builds so that they can all have the option of 'high level play'. Good gameplay does not a Spike make. Good day. ua-cam.com/video/O5AtvWUJ3iQ/v-deo.html (Now that my rant is over... Please let me know what type of builds you are looking for so that I can accommodate in future videos and builds).
Hey, is there any chance you could talk about corrupted cards? Specifically, when you should deviate from your gameplan to snag one? If I'm rolling around with Reginald as my dps and a purple anthem of hope shows up, do I take it? Do I snag a purple maim for my tank Heimer? Thanks for any insight you have!
I would still stick with your gameplan, DPS cards for DPS and Tank cards for Tank. As nice as it would be to have that +1 Inspire each from corrupted Anthem, it's better to just have Regi going pew pew and pay a little extra energy for the other characters on the team to do the Inspire+Courage plans. That said, do what sounds fun; then cut it if you end up not enjoying it.
Thank you for being patient with the muting for coughs; I didn't want to miss out on recording today since there is so much content to make for Across the Obelisk right now. I also forgot to explain why all the Energize cards are just not worth it. Remember that Energize does nothing the turn you get it, and compare the damage and # of hits of the Energize Lightning cards... the math just does not check out.
No problem on the muting for coughs/etc. Probably best to just not bring it up; your audience likely doesn't care if you mute or cut for brief periods (but pointing it out brings it to their attention)
Great video, as always love your content it has helped me enjoy the game so much. Would you mind explaining a bit about Evelyn's starter deck in this comp as an electric support? Thanks!
I'm going with the assumption that you have seen the Eve Support Guide. Add white rains in act 1 for clearing burn, then upgrade them to monster only when you go to the Green zone. Charge Battery is still a bad card, even for a lightning team, so stick with frost bolts and ice lances. Aim to pickup the (i think named deluge) frost+wet aoe, or if you dont find that, a 3-cost shock nova is perfect because it is speed manipulation and spark application. That should cover all the differences between the Eve video and this specific team's Eve. Lemme know if you still need more info.
can u also show last boss encounter (small clips) on your guides? because its all cool and dandy but 1 kill turn builds do fall tremendously behind on sustain and survivability vs last dude
Archon dies to 5 Ball Lightnings. ;) haha, jk. (it's true though). I have definitely considered showing Archon fights, but that fight is such a Bore-fest imo, so I would need a real compelling reason to add it in. The play pattern of the hero and team is still the same, make as many Ball Lightnings as possible and cast them at face. I also have been trying to ensure I talk about any deck changes you have to make for Archon fight (using the final Altar + Church). I am unsure of what the Archon clip would be adding; please let me know what specifically about it you are interested in seeing? That would be a big help.
Aight, made a clip of what it would look like recording Archon. This is a decently quick version, the M14 version was about 2-3 times as long. Please let me know what you think needs to be included from this in the Hero Guides. ua-cam.com/video/t0BZDsZ8-Jg/v-deo.html
@@deckertech-aaron you definitely nailed it down and had some GG items (20 vulv on boss, good bless stacking etc). i dont think its boring fight, its rather interesting to see how people handle boss "1 shot turns" or how much max damage they can perform outside turn 1
Thanks for the video, love hearing your thoughts! Curious what kind of teams you think Andrin frontline works well with. I see that he can get lots of block and evasion, but I'm not sure how he helps his team out as much as a warrior frontline with their vulnerability application.
You pointed out his biggest flaw, lack of Vuln, especially now that you can cap it at 12. In the past, Andrin tank was best used in a Baptize Combo deck. He was there to go very fast, speed up the slow mage+healer on the team, and to Trace two decks to ensure the correct cards were drawn. It was super effective. I have not tried him since then, because as is the case with any Early Access videos I made, the team was nerfed immediately after. His biggest claim to fame is his speed and his starting card.
Thanks for the video, if i understand well, spell Echo is mandatory (so evelyn is?) in order to play this ball lightning deck ? what if you dont have Spell Echo available ?
So I have a question for you, I am also a big fan of really compact deck sizes. When you complete quests and get those in game like draw a card get an effect thing. Is it worth go keep them or replace them in a deck size of 15?
If you are referring to Boons, then those are fantastic! What I love about boons is that they replace themselves AS you draw, instead of after. This means they work a lot better with any hero talents that reduce the cost of certain card types in your starting hand; compared to things like deflect that actively hurt that talent.
@@deckertech-aaron I am, so should I remove cards from like my base deck to stay down to 15 with boons in? For example would I get rid of like a barricade or something on magnunus to keep deck size down?
You will want to keep your core cards for the character, but 95% of the time you can cut something to bring the whole deck back to 15, I've run many a deck with only 12-13 cards in it because of boons. As long as you are still able to play your main strategy, then the thinner the better foe consistency.
edit: I've also checked the purple event in green zone for you, even if the event is there, it's still possible to get the trident as the reward. On a little side-note, there is supposed to be an optional boss there, in the green zone, called Graendor, do you possibly know if it's an event boss or can he be found every time, like the spider queen? Any idea where he is? Trying to optimize my green-zone runs as I think that's my favourite one for act 2 when running high madness.
Just in case anyone stumbles upon this, lemme add that the option to get the trident is to threaten the refugees. Source: I thought I had to kill them and only got the ruby out of it. Had to redo the node to confirm if it was threatening or taking a skill the option that would drop the weapon. A damn shame if you ask me, thunderfury looks pretty darn wild.
You are saying that Chain Lightning is better than Shock Nova. But if on 4 targets shock nova hits all for 17 dmg + sparks total of 68 dmg On 4 chain lightning will hits for 34>17>8>4 for a total of 63 dmg Both giving 5 sparks to each, and shock nova also slowing
Great point! There are a couple things that are important outside the overall damage. Chain will outperform on 1+2+3 targets, Nova only stays on par at 4 targets. Chain also is much more directed damage, you will notice in Wilbur play pattern that you struggle to keep damage even across targets, Chain helps even things out by targeting the highest HP target with the majority of it's damage; Nova often wastes some of its damage.
The play pattern doesn't quite make sense to me yet either. Gustav just plays so much more into being a Support or Healer. I will be making a Healer Guide for him first, but will play around more with some DPS options and see what I can make sense of it this week. Overall, I think any viable DPS on Gustav will be a little forced.
@@deckertech-aaron That makes sense that he cant be viable dps, I just assumed he could be from his enchantment that can give him pierce. But super excited for any video about him! Gustav and wilbur are my favorite !!
They changed that in one of the patches. now 15 non-boon is the minimum. So keep some more of his draw cards in the deck, or any of the last to cut cards that I mentioned. Some boons are actually bad now sadly, because they can make deck manipulation harder with no usable benefit.
I found Tesla coil was amazing, scrolls of intellect are never bad, and he is usually paired with a support mage, who is feeding him free scrolls of intellect to play. Really strong talent with honestly.
Yeah all the good books cost 0.. so a discount on books is not that great right? I think Tesla and transcribe are about equal in power. It really comes down to whether you have more books or energize. If you only have 1 book in your deck and 1 source of energize transcribe feels a bit better no?
Guides are always appreciated, keep up the great work !!!

As long as you are still able to play your main strategy, then the thinner the better foe consistency.
Thanks!
Thank you so much!
edit: I've also checked the purple event in green zone for you, even if the event is there, it's still possible to get the trident as the reward.
Awesome, thank you!
As for the boss, I only know of the Fisherman top-right and the Spider Queen in the south dungeon.
this boss is in the blue biome in the armory on top of the map
@@loicpharao1029 thanks mate, much appreciated
Just in case anyone stumbles upon this, lemme add that the option to get the trident is to threaten the refugees. Source: I thought I had to kill them and only got the ruby out of it. Had to redo the node to confirm if it was threatening or taking a skill the option that would drop the weapon. A damn shame if you ask me, thunderfury looks pretty darn wild.
how do you upgrade the character cards? like the one you start with. see it in your vids but no idea how
Do you mean cards like „twin scrolls“ in this video? These cards get upgraded when you rank up with this hero.
You are saying that Chain Lightning is better than Shock Nova.
But if on 4 targets shock nova hits all for 17 dmg + sparks total of 68 dmg
On 4 chain lightning will hits for 34>17>8>4 for a total of 63 dmg
Both giving 5 sparks to each, and shock nova also slowing
Great point! There are a couple things that are important outside the overall damage.
Chain will outperform on 1+2+3 targets, Nova only stays on par at 4 targets. Chain also is much more directed damage, you will notice in Wilbur play pattern that you struggle to keep damage even across targets, Chain helps even things out by targeting the highest HP target with the majority of it's damage; Nova often wastes some of its damage.
Can we get a gustav dps build. Not sure how good it is, but im confused how to mix in pierce and insane.
Gustav and wilbur are my favorite !!
would you still go for ball lightning without an evelyn support?
Yes, and just engineer a way to cast it every turn with energize and cost reduction. It's his best single target option atm.
When i add boons to my deck i still have to equip 15 other normal cards with it. How do you equip 3 boons and 12 cards?
They changed that in one of the patches. now 15 non-boon is the minimum. So keep some more of his draw cards in the deck, or any of the last to cut cards that I mentioned.
Some boons are actually bad now sadly, because they can make deck manipulation harder with no usable benefit.
ohhh i see, thanks for clarifying. Keep up the good work my man!@@deckertech-aaron
