so brave I never realized how many of us women go thru the same situation.. There's power in hair and how it makes us feel .. these magazines with women and thick luscious hair make me frustrated with the thinning and bald spots due to my meds and stress.. I do the same type cover up.. your amazing and beautiful thanks for sharing.

I pray that you get whatever results you're looking for. After watching you shave your hair with a razor, l was blown away. Sister, beautiful queen, find out what's missing external such as low iron, thyroid issues, vitamin b1,D, Fe, allergies ,thyroid issues. I stumbled on your video and l was lost for words.
Get a throughly blood panel check. Read into hair loss regarding vitamins and minerals absorption because obvious you have more than alopecia issues from looking at your skin and hair
Try botion, copper, zinc, selenium, folic acid and avoid " dairy "for 60 days, l guarantee your skin will be flawless and hair texture strong, l will say your hair type need to be left alone, no skintight hairdos, just daily massages, natural hair ,major vitamins and restricted diet for whatever shows up in your allergy results...Stay beautiful and do not razor your beautiful head.....

Trish, you have given me a sense of inspiration. Right now I'm in the process of waiting from the doctors about my thyroid, and Lupus test. I had bald patches on both sides of my hair line and the back as well. So after being depressed about it I finally stood up and said I'M READY. I shaved all 3 bald spots completely bare on both sides of my head and gave myself an neat undercut. Since my hair is natural it's super duper thick so a perm rod set will cover all my spots. I created my own hair care regimen using all natural pure oils. I know it's going to grow back, with care and prayer!!!!! Thank you for being so bold and posting this. You just helped someone that actually felt suicidal. I suffer from PTSD. I'm currently going through therapy and on meds. I'm feeling very hopeful though and shaving my head gave me some "peace" for some reason if that makes any sense. Thank you. I don't need ppl coming for me, I made my choice and I'm damn proud of it!!!!

Hi Trish, what I personally highly recommend is to use a mixture of:
    Castor oil
    Rosemary oil
    avocado oil
    sweet almond oil
    Jojoba oil
Vitamin E (liquid or you or you can also open the soft capsules)
Vitamin B (you must smash it)
(All in equal quantities. The vitamins: about 5 capsules of each one for every 100 or 150 ml of the mixture)
Use it every night before bed, giving a soft massage for about 5 minutes (Its much better if you put your head down -toward the floor- )and wash your hair the next day or every two days.
Somenthing which they are also recommended a looot is to use a shampoo with onion, and there are lots of recipes on the internet where lot of girls teach you how to prepare it. It is highly recommended for hair loss and to make it grow very fast.

I'm going through that same shit but my one is right on the centre hair line so I can't cover it in anyway n it's thinning day after day!! U r so sweet and strong I can relate girl.. people make comments they don't realise we didn't do that to ourselves n their so quick to judge but they need to understand that's one of the most stressful shit is to go
Through hair thinning or boldness, it's funny how u get so stressed out when ur hair is thinning then u stress even more that the stress is gonna worsen it so u learn to live with it... u go

The key to taking care of kinky hair is to moisture it. Avoid too much heat on the hair and tend to the area that needs the most care. Co-wash it and let it air dry when it's damp.

I started eating avocado for the first time in my life, 6 weeks ago and I noticed recently that my hairline is getting thicker. There's baby hairs there. I use coconut oil on the ends to avoid splitting and eat avocados. That's it. I finally found something that works! I do not blame you for trying out shaving. You know, I'm glad I saw this video because I thought I was the only one with this logic lol. I did the same thing with the nape of my neck because when I was transitioning, my nape hair broke so bad and it just wouldn't grow no matter how much i trimmed it. I finally just asked my guy friend who is a barber to give me an undercut, you know like the cute designs in the back of your head, i brushed it everyday with JBCO and my hair grew back like wildflowers after that.
I think maybe I should do the same with the hair near my right temple. Its been thinning badly lately since I got those stupid box braids back in October. NEVER AGAIN. Currently using JBCO and Doo Gro oil and its filling in slowly.

If Yalll want something for edges or just growing your hair period try "wild hair growth"! I had a bald spot right where my edges were supposed to be a few months later it was gone! And I went natural a few months ago my hair is thriving because of it! Put in some twist or braids leaving out your edges so no stress! Then apply the wild growth every 3-5 days. You can also try the inversion method( I think that's what it's called)using the wild growth it works wonders!

someone recommended supergrow by gnld and it worked wonders for my hair volume and edges, I used this as a leave in after steaming every two weeks without fail for about 6 months.
in addition only use a silk headscarf to bed to avoid tagging on the edges. All the best hope it works out for you.x

Don't worry hon...I wasnt even aware that anyone else did a fade or shave their edges like I...glad to see I'm not the only one. I went to the barber on Christmas Eve and cut off my dreadlocks and asked him to give me a fade so that my thin edges wouldn't be so obvious. I've refaded them nearly every month since. I was using a mixture of JBCO, Shea Butter and Coconut oil, with Rosemary and Tea Tree oil, but my twin reminded me a week ago that I have a tub of Profectiv Anti-thinning Temple Recovery. I have committed myself to using it as recommended, 2 times per day for the next 2 - 3 months to see if it really works as the reviews state. I find that whatever you decide to use, you have to commit to giving it a reasonable time to work and be consistent. All the best to you!

Shaving off your edges will not help them grow When you cut your hair it seems like it grows faster just because it's noticeable and it seems like it grows longer because cutting hair removes split ends that cause it to break. Edges don't really get split ends. Thinning edges are usually caused by traction alopecia. Which is caused by really tight braids and styles that pull out your hair in order to grow them back you need to leave them alone and keep it moisturized. Tea tree oil and JBCO helps a lot. You should watch a video on traction alopecia by green beauty channel. Unfortunately some traction alopecia is permanent because hair follicles can be damaged the only way to fix it is to get surgery and place other hair follicles on other parts of your head to the front and sides

It was like an inch of stubborn baby hairs back there lol it frustrated me so much one day that i shaved it hoping it'll look like a normal hairline and it looked terrible (was super high) lol so i put my hair in singles and let it down to cover it and what do you know it took a bout 2 month for the hair to fit in plaits (which never happened before) and the hair back there eventually grew to the same length as my other hair. Your theory works. At least for me.

+Ashley B that's a coincidence it was prob because you weren't putting as much pressure on those parts you were just letting your hair down. Shaving your hair in those areas won't hurt your hair growth but it also won't help it either

Do you know how when you first started shaving your legs in middle/high school and your legs would be smooth for a week or longer without needing to shave again? But over time, you noticed that you had to shave more often, and maybe even got to a point where you would shave and a few days later have stubble there again? The more you shave your legs the more your body thought it needed to make more because we are supposed to have hair there and taking it away kind of makes your body freak out and grow it back faster and faster. Same idea applies here. The more you shave an area that naturally grows hair, the faster that area will try to grow the hair back. If the hair is still there, usually it won't grow past a certain length (not including the hair on your scalp). If you notice after going a week or two without shaving your legs or if you've never shaved your legs before, the hair will usually reach a certain length and stay there.

+Sienna Barlow Thinning edges are not the always signs of traction alopecia, could be something simply as stress (most common). The thought that cutting your hair makes it grow longer and thicker has been around for a while. I'm sure it was for a reason. Edges get split ends just as much as any other hair on your head because it's still hair. I don't understand how it wouldnt?

I applaud you in doing whatever it takes to grow your hair back. I'm a hairstylist and I wouldn't recommend cutting your edges off unless it is completely damaged (like from a relaxer)...other than that I would just keep applying oil everyday on the edges and stay away from the gels and edge controls for awhile.

Please read this you don't need to shave your hair! Use rice water it's doing an amazing job on my hair I've not seen a curl in my hair for 24 years till I started using it and yes I did what you did too previously and it's kinda helped but rice water makes it so you don't need to do things like this, anyway good luck

Trish's World hi sorry for the late reply, the way I found worked is by taking the water from cooking rice, some use uncooked rice water but i think i found it works more if you get the water out while its cooking the rice, you can keep the rice water after its cooled in the fridge and it will become gloopy, apply on clean hair and leave for 30 mins or how ever you feel u need, then wash it clean, there are many videos on UA-cam explaining better than I have so pls have a look.

Ok do you wash it out with shampoo or with water?
      Thanks!!

Trish's World hi, firstly I use very gentle shampoo on my hair, the more natural the shampoo the better, after shampoo I apply the rice water to clean hair so when I wash it out i use plain water then on the next day I'll wash it with shampoo but only if it smells, I'll use a natural harsh free shampoo on the same day if the smell is apparent. After washing I oil my hair while still wet with water, hope that is clear.

Yes I did this as a teenager and it worked! My logic was that my brothers cut their hair every two weeks and it grew back strong and I knew cutting your hair makes it grow back stronger so I did and bam edges on fleek!!

  • @WannahJevida

The reason your hair looks like it grows faster when you cut it is because it grows back more evenly . The hair grows in 3 different phases anagen, catogen, telogen . Depending what phase you're in as well is how fast your hair will grow . Smh

That shaver you used is the business. My hubby uses the same one. And I use the ladies version, it has 5 blades, and gives a close smooth shave to any area. I love that you don't even need shaving cream.
