From all the videos that I have seen about expanding storage on a Mac, this one is the best from of all them! Great video straight to the point!

Great idea 🤓! Didn’t thought that was possible! I.e. RAID!

Good advice, I use a 2.5gb connection to a local server which runs 24/7 anyway but only with gen 3 pcie...it's not quite as fast as working locally (benchmarked) but not perceptively slower unless working with loads of large files.

That’s an interesting solution. Will try it out for sure

    This a fantastic alternativa!
Is there an enclosure for multiple SSD to configure the RAID in the option that gives you redundancy and also more speed for better data security?

Thanks! Really appreciate the comment. I don’t know of any dual ssd enclosure. But will comment here if I find one

Oh I do not know that you can setup raid on exteranal disks. Great tip, even I do not need it, good to know.

Thunderbolt 3/USB 4 reserves around 20% of the 40Gb/s for Video. I have built an external storage and even with the fastest cards the best I have seen is around 3200GBps read write (M1 Max Studio) , using a striped RAID like this will almost definitely end up in tears. As one dislodged cable at the wrong time and both drives will end up corrupted.

Agree with the speed limitation. That’s why we saw 2700mb/s even with those cards. And yes, the rate of failure with striped set is also higher than single card solution. I mentioned this in the video that the option 2 would be the best solution for most people. Thanks for watching!

Waste one money depending on use case. If you just want to store a lot of data, do not waste your money on an SSD. An SSD should only be used for demanding tasks that require high transfer speeds. Otherwise, buy a seagate HDD like 8TB for $100 and a $30 seagate enclosure, or other brand, that plugs in with USB. It will be a little loud while data is transferring but idle makes no noise.

Agreed. I mentioned this in the video that I am discussing only SSDs in this video. I myself you a Devante HDD for storing large files. I use my SSD primarily for editing my videos off
