I've always played Carlos Alomar's part (intro) in drop D, and it's played as mentioned, almost like a bass riff, the second run climbing up the A string, 2, 3, 4 and terminating on the 5th fret of the low E (now dropped to D), so I play it similar to this version, but I'm assuming that you're in Standard tuning as there's no mention of drop D, (at least I didn't here it). There's a great video on UA-cam of Tony Visconti explaining Robert Fripp's part for those interested. Basically three tracks of Robert's distorted Les Paul at varying distances from the amp for feedback, which they marked on the floor with tape. When you listen to Fripp's tracks isolated, it's really feedbacking quite a lot, and you can really hear it screeching, even on the finished track. Most probably are aware that this track was mixed and recorded at the infamous Hansa studios in Berlin. Great tutorial, I've watched a few others that you've put together as well

Thanks!! Yes I saw the Tony Visconti video. I did this quite a while ago so I need to look back to remind myself what I did! To be totally honest, this was new territory for me. I did a collaboration on Produce Like A Pro, and featured it also on my channel, so I’m probably a little ill educated on this. So thanks for pointing out the Drop D. I’ll have to have another listen.

I discovered only now that this old genius was guitar lead on this title, and with eno on synths, what a dream team. Thanks very nice lesson again.

Great overview and it is enough for us to have fun with this song. I don't think we needed more really. Well done!
