Four years later and this video is sstill helping. I have an Old School TacKnives OTF. I followed this video and it helped but didin't resolve my issue, or so I thought. There was a build up under the release that looked like it was the finish but was actually black yuck. It was difficult to remove and took multiple passes. As always, I wish you much success. Thank you for a great product.
I put a very small amount of grease on the tracks on the blade and the knife did not work. I thinned it down with gun oil and cleaned away the grease and now it's working. So I guess that's a rule of thumb. Overall I am very impressed with this knife. Not only for its cost but for its quality.
Great video, I bought a Lightning Elite and it started misfiring soon after I bought it. Your video helped me take mine apart and it was bone dry, so I lubricated it and it works perfectly. I would like to buy an expensive OTF but I can’t justify the cost when they all do the same thing. Mainly the blade steel is better on the expensive ones. Thanks
Strangely enough, I have learned that otf knives should be oiled less than out the side traditional autos. When I was a greenhorn OTF owner I would keep them liberally oiled and I would have problems. I learned to use very little oil. The opposite is true for side folder autos. What do you think?
This is 100x easier to clean and work on than my kershaw speedsafe… one question, if the spring or other parts break can you contact tacknives and have them send you parts? I know kershaw has a form on their website to order any part you need for free, leatherman requires you to send the knives in and pay for the shipping, what is tacknives standard practice for something like a broken spring?
Looked at the website. If anything on the knife breaks that isn’t “wear and tear through normal usage” you can ship it to them and they will fix and repair it for free. However they charge $5 to ship it back.
@@timice3753 Yea.. then I’m sure they wonder why they have 50 subs and don’t get many views. Sounds good, basically the same policy as leatherman then, I have a 40% off coupon I’m just waiting to use for the right one, still haven’t decided yet. I know I don’t want one that weighs 8+ oz like most their regular ones.
@@travispratt6327 I just ordered a TK MT9DE for $27 I really want to get into collecting knives. But TK has some really good ones for 50% off and when you make an account with a new email, you get an additional 20% making their $70 knives $27.
I've got this knife a can't put it back together for the life of me,I'm doing something simple wrong I know it but just don't know what ?? Can't get it to spring
In the video he mentioned gun oil but I know that you can buy oil made for knives also but not sure if it's safe for otf. I also heard another UA-camr say wd40 is a good choice.
I wish they just made the handle form around the base (bolster/tang whatever) of the blade, that way they’d lock up nice and eliminate the play that nobody likes.

Glad you like them!
Just ordered my first one. Really looking forward to it.
Very well done, and deeply appreciated. I love your knives and this is just what I needed to keep them going. Thanks!!
Bought a MT9T a week ago and love it! Not as sharp as I thought it would be, but it still cuts. Plan on buying more!
Oh! I see this comment is 6 months old.
How's the knife treating you?
@@tacknives4189 has not failed me yet! Thanks for a great product!
This was kinda surprising to read, I bought one and it came razor sharp lol
Thank you for the video. I just got my first Tacknife and I have another ordered already!

That's great to hear. 11 months later, how are they holding up for you?
@@tacknives4189 holding up nicely 👌 still use them everyday with no issues
Great video, I’m gonna buy one from my friend and it needs cleaning so this helped a lot thx
No problem 👍

Clean and dry like a firearm
More video on your otf knives please
It's been 8 months... We posted more videos.

You keep saying "well oiled ".
I emailed to ask about lubricant and was told to run it dry.

You're welcome!
Super Video, really great, but I have to ask, are those cigarette burns on your hand???? Just asking?
We buy knives, not ciggs.
Monkey Pox
Probably knife wounds and cuts. Most knife guys have cuts or scars. It comes with the territory.

It's like he knows what he's doing.
But the dude can not call out the components correctly. You should have a Narrator for yourself. Kmsl
