just realized I have been watching peter for around 3 years and I am not subscribed LOL.
the real question is whether you subscribed after this revelation...
OR, you DID subscribe at some point, but YT has silently unsubscribed you at some point. I know it happened a lot at some point for no apparent reason. I'm 100% sure that I had it happen too (and a few maybes to add), but this was also seen in the comments on many channels.
I haven't seen or faced it anymore though, for a year or so.
@@Garbox80 how many times can you say "at some point" lmao
I've been watching about the same length of time, I am subscribed, and I forgot to sign before watching, so we're going to hell together. The good news is that golf is most people's idea of hell so we'll actually be in heaven.😁
I'm starting to wonder though if Wilson's lower price point comes at the cost of material strength in their construction. I have a C300 driver which, like Pete and the Dynapower, I absolutely love but after a year a playing 3 times a week on average, it had lost an upper and lower power hole infill which I had to fill with black silicone sealant. For the uninitiated, some models including D7s and D9s have urethane inserts around the perimiter that allow the face to flex more on impact, improving distance and forgiveness. A particularly violent swing also accounted for the Fujikura shaft which has since been swapped for an Aldalite shaft and a GP Tour 360 grip + 5 tapes (it's the hockey player in me!).
Don't get me wrong, I'm a Wilson fanboy (Launchpad irons and Infinite L putter) and I'd recommend them to anyone but if Dynapower finally gets them back to the big table, maybe they could still stay a little under the competition's pricing but improve the strength at the critical points.
Get that right and Wilson could be world beaters again.
Interestingly enough same here.
Peter, can you update everyone on Wilson’s reaction to the driver head problem just as you did with the Taylor Made driver issue. Keep up the good work.
This is the content I signed up for. A thorough, scientific, deep dive of your dog. And golf club comparisons.
When your wife walks in the room & Mr Finch is shouting “that’s massive, that’s massive, get in the hole, GET IN THE HOLE” & you get the stare 😂
It's really great to see Wilson getting more love. Loved the video by the way. Have been saying for some time now that if wilson was just able to sponsor the right player on tour, more things would happen. I don't think Gary Woodland was a loss at all. Very exited about how dynapower is getting so much attention.
I wouldn't even call it shocking anymore, every video I've seen of the Wilson had nothing but praise for it. I think 9 out of 10 golfers could save 150 and get this.
Maybe not 9/10, if the forgiveness is an issue. All the big brands other than Wilson have been shifting towards forgiveness for a couple of years now (since they weren't going to gain much on ball speed etc. anymore), but obviously Wilson HAD to get it's ball speed and carry on par first. Next revision will probably be more consistent throughout the whole face.
I own the C300...absolutely luv them..
Most golfers could save money by just not going for the newest driver/clubs. I play a G400 with a HZRDS black smoke. $200 head $50 shaft. If I break it I buy the exact same combo.
@@Huddle_House56 I bought the Epic Speed for 250 in July. Was a store demo. Thing is awesome, incredibly forgiving and I love the sounds. So much better than the Cobra Speedzone Xtreme I had before that. I'm keeping this one for the next years at least.
I agree also not many of us average golfers can swing a club that fast 😂
So this shows that the dynapower is literally the longest driver on the market!? That’s insane and I’m happy for Ol Willy
Walked in for stealth irons at a fitting walked out with Willson. Absolutely love and half the price!
Nice review but way too busy on the colour spinning when showing the table data…. No need for it imho 🧐
Yeah I'd agree, the other Wilson test video was really busy too. Form follows function!
Peter absolutely loves the driver, but I guarantee it won’t go in the bag. That’s the golfers ego, everybody does it
While I love the idea of playing Wilson, the driver just isn't for me. It has two really big negatives - a heel and a toe. If they could move those to the middle and move the middle to the extremities, it would be perfect 🤪
😂😂😂
I really liked this comparison video. Would definitely be interested in a follow up about what happened to the face and what Wilson responded
I don’t think my 95 mph swing speed will dent my Wilson. Lay off the spinach Pete!
Tried this at a club fitting today and bought it!
I’ve been saying this for a few years! Wilson was gonna come back and beat out the top dogs! Hope this goes in the bag! That would be huge for Wilson!
Seamless transition into the subscribe prompt. We come for the golf but we stay for the professionalism
You’re cranking that ball out there man !! Kudos !! So sad to see that face cave in though 😮
Pretty awesome! And to think you almost wouldn’t have even considered this one earlier in the year… It’s definitely a snake in the grass and it’s got a mean bite. Love it 👍
Some description 😂
I'll probably give the Wilson a try at the store, thanks Pete
Man, those were insane numbers! I guessed correct on your Instagram post earlier this week! My wife tried this driver recently and it was pretty hot off the face!
Wilson are so under-rated. I bought their D9 irons last year and I love them! Great to see them getting the airtime their clubs now deserve
I have the CBs from last year. Loved em so much I bought the 2,3,4 irons afterwards. Great clubs. Switched from my titleist 704cb irons I’ve had for years. Triad and duo optix golf balls have also been great. Excited to try this new driver.
In the full speed test, the Dynapower destroys the others. Yes, off the toe and heel, your finding the spin to be all over the place but its the better players driver, so its meant to be hit out the middle, more than often. Hence why they have the titanium model, for the not so better players. Hopefully the face issue, is just a one off issue.
Great review and insane #s......but we all know Pete.will never play the lowly Wilson!!!!
Great to see Wilson making a comeback!
Also, those are some really impressive swings Pete, very well done!
A lot of the long drive guys dent their faces, At the speeds you are producing certainly dent your club.
Liked the review. Makes me want to try the club. I was wandering why you went with the stealth 2 when your best club was the paradigm. Acc to your data graph that’s was shown in the vid.
Full speed testing and on the course Stealth was huge, pure distance decision
Thanks for that Pete! Appreciate you bringing this out and it’s great to see it head to head against the others all out. #wilson!!!
The dog being in the video has made my day. More appearances please
Wilson has stepped up its game Big Time. So much so that, I have the full Wilson Staff CB now in my bag and their wedges! Will have to test drive this driver soon!
Ditto and ditto . . . ⛳️🏌♂️
I’m literally ordering a set tomorrow!
Excellent performance, looks and the price is spot on
I’ve just got into golf and purchased the D9 Forged Irons think I’ve just found the Driver to match, great review Pete
I've had those irons for about 3 months- they are great 👌
D9 forged are great clubs. I tested them along with some more forgiving mizuno's as I'm debating to stop punishing mysefl wtih MP blades anymore, and they were awesome.
Got fitted into D9 forged last week the are the softest clubs I’ve ever hit, the outclassed mizunos when I tried both up against eachother
Well, i'm glad to see Wilson is finally getting as much love shown to it as Tom Hanks showed to his pseudo wife.
Never heard of a face collapsing like that.....possibly a defect or non-conforming manufacturing error?
LOVE this driver! My buddy bought one and even though I already got my Aerojet LS, I can see myself buying the Carbon Dynapwr
Wow. Big call! (Not having a crack. I’m a massive Wilson fan. Cheers)
You lost me at : the face caved in... 😂.
That caved in face was acting as a trampoline... Hence the ball speed and distance.
HEY Peter can you review the PXG Gen 6 driver's next !!??
Tbf drivers have really been at the limit of performance for a few years now, so it’s not completely shocking that lower price ‘less premium’ models should be coming up to challenge the bigger boys.
Wilson fg tour 100 irons one of the best irons I've ever used and owned and the c300 forged aslo incredible irons glad the drivers are catching up now
C300 Forged are my gamers. Definitely went under the radar that model. Brilliant irons
Longest straightest driver I have played. Love my Carbon Wilson!
Out of curiousity when you have an issue like this with the head does the brand reach out to you and ask for the club / head back so they can investigate?
Great question! Hope we get an answer from Pete on that
Wilson never put any money into serious advertising hype like the others. They've been making clubs as good as any other forever. If its good enough for Paddy Harrington, its good enough for anyone, including me. I've been playing FG Tour V2 Irons forever. Wore em out and im gonna get me a set of the D9 forged and one of these drivers for the end stage of my golfing days!
I'd like to see a couple videos with average everyday golfers hitting Paradym, Ping Max, Stealth 2, AeroJet and the Wilson. Preferably someone who doesn't hit the ball straight most of the time. Start out with their current driver and then have them hit all these. It's one thing to see you or Rick hit them, it's another to see someone who isn't as good as you hit them.
The outcome would be the same. If a hack slices a callaway he'll slice any other brand. It's cheaper than the rest and it's probably all a hack really needs.
Love the club and the stats. Not sure about the reliability now with that bent face.. 🤔 hmmmm.
Now Finchie, come on coach! Get a new head, & play a couple of 9 hole 2 ball rounds with the Wilson vs TaylorMade or the 2nd best driver in your prior evaluation. 😊
People seem to forget how gigantic Wilson as a sporting goods manufacturer is. If they decide to build a better tool, they have the capital. All it takes is a Chairman with the will.
Presumably you’re going to try and return that head and get a replacement? Let us know what Wilson say about the damage…
It doesn’t matter how good the club is if you have to buy a new one every month.
Yeah they are sending another, I’ve no major concerns, sure it’s an isolated case
Pete at your normal swing speed how accurate was the Wilson . That is more important . Even if few yards shorter but you are hitting it straight is the goal
Who thought it was a good idea to put white text on a moving neon green background....fire them.
Ive got the Wilson D9 Forged irons - absolutely brilliant for the money 👌
I am definitely looking at these after the summer , change from GIs to D9F will have to read up on cavity back v forged'
Given the state of that face, might the massive distances been a result of the face wearing and becoming springier as testing went on rather than being the quality of the club? It’s a known thing with drivers after all….
Nah only had this driver a few weeks, face wear only happens after an extended period
I play with wilson launchpad irons, I'm a high handicap beginner. Absolutely love them, so easy to hit consistently. I know they are pretty ugly, but who cares when your enjoying every round. Even play with fairly decent players who love having a few shots with them in a round.
Careful there son, you're talking about my ladies too!🤣
When you look at them up close, they are an acquired taste (could they be the world's first Butterface clubs?) but you get used to them quickly and, unless you worry about looks over performance, you wont let it bother you anyway. At address it's only really noticeable on the long irons anyway but they are a superb set for a high handicapper (me too) and really give you the confidence to go for it which is why I love them too. Wilson Smartcore golf balls are equally good value and perform well off LP's.
Bizarrely though, I don't particularly fancy the Launchpad 2, I guess she just isn't my type.
Glad you did a proper review on this club.
I really hope Wilson makes a dent in the market this year with this driver. Someone needs to compete at a more reasonable price. We can't keep letting these companies increase their prices by 50$ per year.
Will the next face, be as lively...🤷
I've run through all the new drivers quite thoroughly and the Dynapower arrives next week...it's going in the bag. The Paradym I got too early will likely be donated to a charitable cause. None of the drivers compare to the Wilson...period.
Wow! 😮
@@cameronloveless1751I can't find any Ti. Reviews that get as much praise as the carbon , doesnt seem as popular and it's for the average player too
Update: I've had the Wilson DP Carbon for four months now...I'm 60 years old...I've driven seven greens on par four holes over 300 yards...the longest was 346...all I can say is, "get one!"
I've had misc. Wilson golf clubs off on for years, but never really considered the Driver????? Till now! Thanks Peter!
BTW - Kyle Berkshire has been doing this for Cobra for a few years now.....and Cobra signed him on to destroy their drivers in order to make them better. Maybe Wilson with Peter Finch???
Can we get more Murph, please? Thanks. Dead serious. Please.
I bought this driver without a fitting just 10,5 with stiff shaft and I am so happy. Thank you Peter for the last video you did on the Wilson.
Yes yes. Driver driver. I'm here for the dog.
The face caving in is concerning for a BRAND NEW club! How many balls did you strike with it?
Alternatively, do your research, try before you buy and you'll get a big name, very good condition, fully adjustable 2nd hand driver for under £250. There's plenty to choose from. The pricing of these new clubs is now way beyond totally ridiculous, and the difference between them and what was the latest thing say 3 years ago (or more) is marginal and for me doesn't even begin to justify the cost difference.
Had Wilson V6 forged irons but they pitted unlike Srixons. I guess you get what you pay for and add in poor residual value not such a good investment.
Pete, this driver is an absolute beast. This needs to go in the bag, at least for a few months to get used to it
Bloody hell Pete that was an absolute bomb! This driver has put a cat amongst the pigeons hasn’t it 👍😂
Stick it in the bag....give the under🐶 a go.....
👍🏼 Thumbs up just for the gorgeous doggo 🐕
What's the doggos name Petey? 💕
Murph, and he says “Hi!”
@@peterfinchgolfoh yeah
Murph Woz Ere 23 🤣
Nice touch
Serious question tho Peter is how a 90-100mph swing works with all the clubs you have tested, I would like to see if the Wilson V Rest still stacks up as most of us don’t swing at 120mph, btw do love your swing (envious to the max)🎉
Hi wow what a transformation to their previous drivers. l do hope Wilson send another head so that the faces can be compared. l would buy this driver for sure if the face dose not cave in. Plz up date us Pete.
Face issue could explain why it was hot/going so far. Drivers usually go longest just before the face gives in.
I tried out the Carbon at the PGA store here in Utah, 9 degree head turned down to 8. x-stiff 60g Project-X Black RDX... I fell in love with it. The sound is amazing. I was looking at the Paradym, but I am going to get the Wilson instead.
Who are you kidding, TM not going anywhere. 😆
Please compare this one to the cheaper all-titanium model.
I have the dynapower titanium, I love it, nowhere near these distances lol but for not touching a club for almost 20 years then getting back into it, I'm happy I bought this driver Forgiving enough and happy with distance while finding my swing again.
I know distance is your bag but how do they all compare on dispersion? Great video, really surprising results.
The problem with all these club testers these days is you’re all low handicap players with high swing speeds generally speaking. Someone needs to do something rating clubs with progressively slower swing speeds and then lets digest the data and compare. I just think it’s a very narrow testing window used by content creators in this space. It doesn’t give a true picture for the masses. A fifteen handicap player is rarely going to hit the center of the club face much less hit the fairway. Club review are almost all biased toward the very best players. It’s not reality. It’s just another component of subliminal marketing. There’s really not much of a reason why we all need new clubs every year.
My new driver and it's been going well 👌 ☺️
Am I the only one who has no faith in these simulator tests? Maybe they are ok for giving you a benchmark, but I'd much rather see comparisons done outdoors on the course or a range. I hit in a simulator one time, and the numbers were completely off. Maybe I just need more simulator exposure, but I'm not fond of them.
Great looking product from Wilson
How is the forgiveness compared to the stealth 2? The real question
Stealth 2 is trash
Yeah mean "FARgiveness"
@@lc-ii9ii everyone worries about forgiveness? Even pros would like a club that performs the same on different strikes. This is just a stupid comment
@@lc-ii9ii this is a dumb comment
I have cracked the face on two Wilson D7 3 woods this year.
I have a really hard time with the lack of symmetry in the topline. I also prefer when companies ad a bit of transition between paint and carbon. Mizuno historically has done it the best with the old mp-001 forged driver paint fading into the subtle carbon section, and the newer ST-230 with some thin black lines between the black leading edge of the crown and the carbon. Little thing i know. But i just think it could look better
Ive literally just ordered this in an 8 degree head 💪💪
Love it! I'm a huge Wilson Staff fan, I have irons and love this review!
Been using one since September and I love it! 9 degree head. Canada though so no winter golf. 6-7 rounds plus a few indoors. Glad to hear it exceeded expectations. Great review Pete!
We demand more of Pete’s dog
I completely understand the hype surrounding the Wilson Dynapower driver. It's from a historic company which faded away to almost non-existence over the years and now they have a product which can compete with the big brands in golf. However, and this is a big "However", the all-mighty capitalism has taken over and there isn't a single place in the states where you can buy the carbon version of the Dynapower for less than $499.99. So for me, the hype is completely gone. I don't care how good the club is if it's going to be in the same ballpark (cost-wise) as the other drivers. It seems outrageous for clubs to be as expensive as they are nowadays and I can't comprehend paying $530.00+ (includes tax, shipping, etc.) for a single, decent club.
It’s performing as good, if not better than all the drivers that are MORE expensive, and you’re complaining? You don’t think they spent a truckload on R&D to get that improvement? And while the other companies rake in the $, you don’t want them to be able make a similar return on their investment? Part of Wilson returning to the top will see a price rise - and if they can do that, they deserve to be able to charge more instead of always being cheaper. It will be a pain I have to pay more for my Wilson clubs, but should ensure that they remain profitable and can sink more money into R&D to find those tiny incremental improvements every few years.
@@cameronloveless1751 correct. They have every right and deserve to charge whatever they want. And just like you have the right to pay it, I have the exact same right to never pay that much for a club. Regardless for how good it is. Or if the face caves in. Which I'll never have to worry about since I can't come anywhere near to 127mph swing speed. But yes, you are correct in your opinion and I am correct in my opinion.
@@chrissnyder7245 only ever owned 3 brand new drivers in my life (I’m nearly 50), and only one club in my bag right now was new when I got it: the putter, and it’s now almost 29 years old! 🤣 I want Wilson to return to its former glory, and be a successful company, so they’re around making great clubs for the rest of my playing days - which means they need to be profitable.
I just think if their driver is as good as the big boys, and they are charging $30-$70 less, can we really gripe about their pricing? They still have the D9 driver if people want new at a cheaper price point, but it’s not as high tech, and doesn’t go as far. Like most things in life, you get what you pay for. Cheers
The DP carbon in the UK would be 640 USD then so it costs even more over here
You're just an animal, Pete!💪🏼 Dented this Wilslon Dynapower Carbon. Then cracked your TaylorMade Stealth 2.0!?!🤷♂️😲 Lol.
Got the 13 degree titanium dynapower, the best driver I’ve ever had, always had Callaways and a stealth of late, but this is better than them all.everyone who has a go with it,bombs it long and straight.only paid £200,for an excellent condition one.wouldn’t advise getting the carbon one thou unless your below a 5 handicap.
I was looking to see if the tech in my Callaway Rogue was outdated. Reading the Hot List, I thought maybe.
So I hit a local store and took my old driver into the simulator. Got some numbers. Hit Titleist (I play their irons), Callaway, TaylorMade, etc, etc. Nothing was much different. A little less spin here, a little more distance there but all in all.. not worth the cash.
The tech handed me a Driver and said don’t look at the manufacturer. Just hit it.
Wow.
18 yards more distance. Better launch, speed, dispersion… well, everything. I bought it. It’s been in the bag for a couple of rounds and couldn’t be happier. The numbers in the sim are reflected on the course.
Switched to the dyna power a few weeks ago; replacing my cobra speed zone. It is slightly longer than my speed zone but only 8-10 yards so nothing massive the main thing for me is just how accurate it is; I honestly cannot recommend this driver Enougth to anyone watching. #dynarod power 😂
Murph is the best guest appearance on this channel and there have been some greats!
I mean nice numbers but it doesn’t matter how good the club is if you have to buy a new one every month. You don't even save money if that breaks that fast...woudln't be an issue maybe for me and the rest of us swining it slower but idk
Superfinch! Us mere mortals aren’t caving it in, that’s for sure
If this driver had Taylormade written on it. It would be in your bag. The stealth 2's face has massive manufacturing issues, as it continually removes its self from the club head. Best driver of 2023 for me
Metal drivers should be banned for the pros, just like metal bats are banned for the pros. I agree with Sir Nick Faldo, "The art of being a great driver has been lost." Pick up a persimmon driver at a thrift store for a couple bucks and learn how to hit a golf ball the right way!
As ever a decent review. But WTF was going on with the background graphic with the first table? Could barely see what was on it because of the movement.
Wilson/Staff are not Wilson box sets, just like Callaway are not Strata box sets. Disappointing to see someone like Pete still making that incorrect assumption.
Do NOT buy from Peter Finch's store. He is completely unprofessional never responding to repeated emails to rectify items that were not shipped. People like Peter Finch who cheat you out of money and deny any responsibility should not be allowed to sell items.
The original Stealth is now $399. It is a superior driver than Stealth II in just about every category and has plenty of availability.
It shouldn't be talking to anyone who follows golf equipment anymore that Wilson is making high-quality equipment and has been for several years now
I still play a few rounds with my Deep Red Fat Shaft irons &. Few rounds with my Di9 irons every year… these were great clubs can7 seem to part with them
Hey Peter,, Did you get a response from WILSON after you damaged the face during the origional test
