The driver in the video was not the triple diamond, it was the max. Reference is 7:51 in the video. So does the cover of the video, can’t trust anyone besides TXG for unbiased reviews.
@coreylaughlin6057 Yeah Club Champion (FKA TXG) are great for data driven reviews, I love their reviews. However, I do enjoy the personal touch and emotion Pete brings to reviews. Obviously feel and looks are subjective. We all have biases in life, you might prefer the looks and feel of a Srixon driver over a TM driver so if the two clubs were around the same in performance, you would be biased towards the Srixon, and there's nothing wrong with having a personal preference.
Although Taylormade Callaway ping make great drivers someone of your capabilities could use any of the drivers paid sponsors again
Thanks Pete! I think it’s been long enough that we may need look at all drivers in the last 5 years and see which would be ideal on a budget. Then we could look at not only performance vs new, but also durability.
Just buy Tour Edge, affordable and lifetime warranty. I snapped a shaft on the driving range, totally my fault, emailed them, they asked for pictures, sent them pictures, they recommended a stiffer shaft and I said okay. They sent it and I had it within a week.

Great, concise breakdown of how you selected your driver for '24. Not overly surprised with QFTO and needing accuracy. The G430 10K does sound like a real unicorn. Nice job team. Look forward to the rest of the WITB series!
From another review of the Ping 430 Max 10k the reviewer said that Ping have managed to not only make it forgiving it has also managed to keep the spin down. Being forgiving usually means high spin which leads to less distance. Ping has managed to lower the spin and to keep up with the QI10 and Callaway Max for distance. Quite a feat I reckon, deserves to be in your bag.
You're spot on, he said he wanted maximum forgiveness so it can't be anyone else but Ping
got last years model after going to buy a Taylormade (also my usual brand) and loved it. Will probably upgrade to the 10k this year. Not a huge fan of the look at address, but the club has made a crazy improvement in my drives in one year. Consistency and distance. can't wait to try the 10k!
I am envious of you Pete been able to test a drivers over several sessions. This is something I think us regular golfers don't get the luxury. Normally you get a 30-60min session then you have to make a decision. Would be nice if pro's and shops would let you have a demo to trial in real life situations not just in a simulator.

I would guess you’re finding the center more often with the Ping because of the heavier head weight. Could also be the shape, who knows? But I always loved the slightly heavier head weight Ping offers.
Srixon blows all the other overhyped overpriced crap away.

Any chance we could ever see a 2023 WITB VS 2024 WITB to demonstrate the gains or impact of the old gear VS new gear? Maybe even go with further year gaps as a nostalgia trip and to see how tech evolved?
Maybe broken down to different parts of the bag like your 2023 driver VS 2024 driver, iron etc.
Not sure how appealing the idea is or not, I just feel it'd be really cool to see some of the old legend clubs face off against their new counterparts.

Also though I love that there is a clear winner and Ping G430 Max 10k looks like it will have some staying power to be a club I could use for the next 5 years and be better for it! Would wanted to see one of the PXGs available. Even if its the Gen-5 with the included fitting or even Gen-6 or Black-Ops??

Great choice in the G430 max 10k. I play it as well as the fairway and hybrid. I also play the Ping Blueprint S irons and the new cleveland RTX Wedges and Ping PLD Primt Tyne 4 putter.

That's why I bought the g430max I hit it 10 times in a sim hit the dead center every time. I have never had a driver do that. Other than my burner mini
Great video, enjoyed the thoughtful analysis. Question: do you check swingweight of the drivers with your chosen shaft? Just asking because I know Ping often usually counterbalanced shafts due to the heavy head weight. Just wondering if that might have led to you finding the middle of the Ping more often.
All I can say is I'm 64 , hitting darkspeed ls with ventus black ,non velocore, 280 to 325 with maxfli tour x and I don't think anything can do better than that for me 😊
Being a scratch golfer in 2019 due to putting & chipping & my awesome 2 wood original 1 TaylorMade mini driver that will never leave my bag for its low sping accuracy versatility of the deck .
I have always struggled with driver when used .
But i have always wanted a driver with total forgiveness more than anything & accuracy a little bit more than my 2 wood would be incredible
This Ping when i saw it in Drummond golf i absolutely loved it have not tried it yet .
But loved the feed back on this pete

YESSS!! You won't be disappointed Peter! Even with "Looks" questionably being worth as much as distance/forgiveness/feel it still smashed the Qi10!
Why are eliminating the Titleist TSI4 in 2024. You shouldn't even be testing the TSI4 in 2024. You should be testing the TSR4 in 2024. That's my favorite driver. It's not the arrow, it's the Indian.
Looks, sound, and feel are completely irrelevant if you’re trying to qualify for the open 😂 golfers are fashionistas. The G430 Max 10k won the distance and accuracy AND forgiveness. End of story.
Ping G430 max 10K sells for $879 at Golftown in western Canada. I’ll just stick with my Callaway Epic Flash driver for now. NEXT
Driver tick, irons (just watched latest vid, tick) will the Ping glide 4.0's get in the bag or will Vokey's , TMG's , MacDaddy's or Mizuno T24's win the day?, aint worried about the flat stick I use a white hot 2 ball original, there is no better putter.
All don’t get fooled as a pro you should be able to drive a broom stick 300 yards us novices are crying out for you top UA-camrs to get us 18 handicappers to try them and not bemuse us with techno and how far you can smash em you might be able to build the bag with a 9 degree rocket but us mortals can’t
If I have to buy an expensive driver ? Then I’ll go for the PXG black ops .. my mind says I’ll just go for the Wilson carbon driver for now..
Cut into a taylormade stealth and you know what it had no special bridge insert, 70% plastic, people are getting ripped off, most driver's that pros use are definitely not from the store, so watch out, my taylormade M2 2016 goes just as far and as forgiving as the stealth, buyer beware save your money and stick with what you have, the only difference it the face of most new so called top of the range driver's, to be honest most of these videos are just the users opinions, (this driver compared to that driver reviews are just personal preference) 2016 compared to 2024 not much has changed in shape and feel.
Sorry to be slightly negative but player A preference might be cobra and player B preference titlist and so on, so opinions are very different and when people don't get to try 100 drivers, how do us normal golfers get to try numerous brands, so reviews are so controversial and somewhat not reality to the average golfer.
I know someone who worked in a certain brand and the materials for the completed head what £40 shocking.

Why did you try TSI instead of TSR?
Even as someone who, as a huge motorsports fan, loves the aero on race cars, including the fins (vortex generators) on top to reduce drag, seeing them on a driver is just jarring and ugly AF.
I couldn't buy the Ping simply on the looks alone. I'd give up 1-2 fairways per round if it meant I don't have to look at it 😂
I had the original stealth and got fit this month.....I went with the AI Smoke MAX, my stats and feel with the Qi10 were TERRIBLE hahaha
Havent had a chance to try any of this years models out yet but I’ve really been impressed by what everyone is saying about the Ping. Really looking forward to trying it out.

My uncle,an engineer, works at Ping. They are actually serious on the engineering side, and more focused on improvements of the club than marketing...They won't push out a driver if it doesn't have a few yards improvement in distance, etc...@@peterfinchgolf
Great video. Your final result agrees with many articles I have read about the Ping. Will be testing it with others this weekend.
The problem Peter is all your buddies that do this same thing all have different findings. One is TM, another Callaway, etc, etc.. Tough on whom to actually believe and go for that driver..

I may be looking for new ones for the same reason you are. I love the P-7MB but I may need a CB for forgiveness (6 handicap)
Im not buying this insanity. Putting a new fancy paint job and making a few small changes to a driver and then slapping an 800 to 1k price tag on it is complete insanity. I'll keep my 450 dollar epic flash.

Love these kind of videos, they're so refreshing. I'm playing the Belfrey for a stag this summer, I've watched so many driver reviews this past month and I'm still very confused on what i should be getting myself as a 'treat' for myself. I think I'm leaning towards a PING purely for the forgiveness
You do realize that virtually none of this review applies to 90% of the people that watch it due to the fact that he is swinging 15 mph faster than you can ever swing, using loft you cold never get off the ground and a shaft you could never properly load... Very well done review, but meaningless to 90% who watch it.
The G425 was way better than my former TSi3 I had. These Ping drivers are sbsolute fairway finders and that's all I need.
You should retry the G430 max and just turn the driver down. Will drop the spin but still give great forgiveness.
Just got my ping g430 max 10k today. Its great, big improvement compared to g425max.

No offence I've tested the new ping vs old and no difference. For 599£ I got an aerojet max for 200£ and its better than the new ping.

Too many dark black drivers. I miss the biocell era when cobra had 5-6 different colors available for the same club.

Thanks for the video. I may buy new clubs in spring, I want a driver I can work in both directions my normal ball flight is pretty straight. What should I be looking at? It can be a few years old as I probably wouldn't spring for a new one, I don't play enough anymore to justify the cost.
LOL. The Mizuno ST-Z is in the hands of the top driver on the PGA tour. And the Srixon is currently leading Club Champion’s bracket.

I still think the TSR3 is unbeatable by any of the current newer drivers

people this is the right driver for him ! not for everyone go get fitted properly and test everything everyone is different his choice was based on the way he plays not everyone else
Most people don't get fitted because they don't want to spend $800 on a new club. Or too embarrassed to get fitted and tell the guy "Thanks for taking an hour fitting me with this nice club. I'm going on Ebay and getting one. Cya.".
I’m sure the ping is amazing I would struggle getting over the looks
