#Polestar - Авто та транспорт
I appreciate that in refreshing the car, they introduced significant improvements to the drivetrain
We love our P2. We went with the dual motor cause at the time the 7ish second accel and the barely better range was not worth the savings, but the new single motor is the most improved and really the way to go unless you want to jump a couple steps up to the performance trim.
Thanks for the review. I’m looking to finally get a car after 12 years. I do love the look of the Polstar 2 but really REALLY dislike the vertical screen. Gives it an outdated feel in my opinion.
Looks great, and nice to hear about the range. I think the electric car market party trick of 0-60 in 1 sec is kinda passe. I rather 250 hp and 350 mi range any day.
I keep getting ads for this car, seems pretty solid
Nathan, this is how you do a car review video! you go into detail about the car.
Just bought similar Polestar. It is great indeed, also during Nordic winter.
I’ve always liked the look and interior materials of the Polestar 2. They made some good changes for the facelift but they fell down on not improving the cup holders and most of all not including adaptive cruise as standard. Make those changes and sell it for $40k and I’m in but not at $52k.
In my opinion you'd still be crazy to pay $40k for a made in China, 99% Chinese parts content vehicle over a domestic make - even if we set aside the tax credit and potentially supporting the CCP with your vehicle purchase.
@@1970351C2Vdo you really have to put the same comment on all Polestar videos? It’s annoying.
@MrSinnerBOFH It's a fair comment when the videos fail to mention it. The 800lb gorilla in the room is that they won't get flown out to Polestar events if they do.
@MrSinnerBOFH It's a fair comment when the videos fail to mention it...and we all know why.
@@1970351C2V Why
I ordered it 2 days ago here in Norway. Here the tax reduction is the same for all EV's and Polestar have them on sale until the end of the year! It actually came down a little higher than my previous Model 3, but it is better specs in many regards!
I do like the looks of the P2 over the M3, and that extended mileage range is really nice to have.
What is the battery chemistry for this vehicle?
Did they change how it fits on the driver side? The last time I test drove one, the driver position felt cramp because the center console was taking up so much space. I felt like I didn't have much room to spread my legs.
If a car has ultrasonic sensors it already has a significant advantage over a Tesla with the crappy “Tesla Vision” but if you plan on taking road trips in an electric car nothing can compete with a Tesla and their integrated charging network.
Took it for a test drive yesterday (I live in California). Pretty sweet inside. I’m a short guy and I’ll say that taller people will definitely have issues in there. Heavier people as well due to the seating being a bit tight. Rides smooth as hell, can’t feel any bumps in the road. Sound system is great, steering is light regardless of what mode you put it on (i currently drive a mustang). Overall, Great car. I would buy it if I truly needed a new car. If not, wait until they bring the price down early next year because they’ll be releasing the Polestar 3.
Bummer. 6 foot 7 here. Checks all the boxes but I have to fit in it.
@@BradThurber at 6’7 you’ll have a hard time in there lol. The back seats are insanely short as well. If you ride with other tall people or have over 2 kids, it’s a no go.
They won’t bring the price down, as Polestar 3 is a different carm a sporty SUV. But you can look at the used marked and get yourself a certified Pre-Owned with extended warranty for a bug chunk off the new price.
@@MrSinnerBOFH yeah, that’s what I’m referring to. You’ll find a pre owned at a good price once the new car drops.
You can now get $10K off from Polestar, plus an additional $2K off if you're a Costco member. I just leased a base single motor.
A key question: Will the updated Tesla Model 3 still qualify for any IRA tax credit?? If not, then it’s down to what the purchaser values more, price (M3 std range), range (close for RWD Polestar2 vs LR {AWD} M3), finish + more typical switchgear (Polestar 2). M3 LR will give AWD, and be faster. Maybe competition is finally starting to work in the EV market!
I have a '22 dual motor. I like all the upgrades except the new face. The old grille I have looks far nicer. Oh, and the cupholder situation... still bad.
Are those rims the default?
Waiting for my P2 LR Magnesium color to arrive 3 weeks left
I really want one but i can't decide if the two available packs are worth it
It certainly looks like Polestar is going in the right direction, 300 horses and rear wheel drive sounds like a fun driver 🤗🤗
Girl I spoke to yesterday wants a Polstar...she says its a Volvo product.. she's trading her 19' Toyota Camry in December
Can we normalize $50k cars aren't considered affordable (as in cheap by my understanding of the way it was used in the video)? Let's be real. Don't care where you live. 10 years and no interest or maintenance considered, $5k a year for a car...You can get a two year old base Sonata for $20k, and has all the safety you need.
Yeah although that sonata like most Korean vehicles probably won’t even make it to 10 years. Just think to yourself how often do you see old Korean cars compared to Japanese or even domestic.
Also that affordable is rather relative. If you look at a 50 year old mustang that cost 3k new and a new mustang. They cost the same, 2 years wages for their respective time for the lowest end of the income spectrum.
@@Bonanzaking it's becoming much more common, even though living in the Midwest it's still rare.
Need to compare apples to apples. What does a new Sonata cost? Looking real quick, local dealer has 3 , priced $30k-$35k. Then you got to compare options between them, which I am not going to do. A 2023 RWD Polstar is $47k. Minus $7500 Fed tax credit, that car is $39,500. Hmm Not to far off from a new Sonata. A 2024 RWD Polstar is $51500 minus $7500 and you get $44k. Still not far off from a new Sonata. Add State tax incentives, the gap is even closer. I am sure you will counter with either "What if you can't get the tax credit" and "We the public should not be funding EVs with our hard earned cash..."
Point is cars are expensive. This idea that ICE cars are not is just idiotic
@@gregpochet4812 won't counter with those as $44k is expensive. Cars are in general as you stated. Apples to apples would be dollar to dollar here. You can get a used (insert whatever $20-25k car you want here). What you get for $50k i don't consider affordable for a basic commuter car. If you're in the market for a 300 hp RWD sure you can find two-three year old options much cheaper. That's the point, not that it's an expensive $50k car, that $50k isn't affordable for a substantial amount of people.
@@zachc1297 There are also used EVs for 20 to 25k.
Polestar2 is the only ev I like the looks.
Are there any changes in efficiency? The earlier Polestar 2 was a good bit less efficient than a Tesla Model 3 Long Range or Hyundai Ioniq 6 Long Range.
This is based on a ICE platform used on thr XC40. It will be heavier than a dedicated BEV platform.
Yes, there are changes in efficiency in MY24. I just watch a review by an Australian guy who commented in improvement in efficiency.
Honestly, I wanted to get a pulse check and hear what people have to say. I love Polestar and their interior and exterior design. But, what’s up with the huge bezels around the screen? Does that bother anyone at all?
I like the style of this thing, but someone has to REALLY like that style to justify the cost vs a Tesla 3/Y post-tax-credit.
Is it made in Sweden?
With Tesla pricing, federal tax credit and potential state credits you could get a model X. For not much more access you're buying an American product with a reliable charging network. Or save $20K basically and get a model Y.
I hear a lot about how great and superior Tesla's Charging Network is. Yet I increasingly see Teslas being charged and waiting in line to be charged at Electrify America. I can say from personal experience Electrify America is horrid. When I ask Teslas owners why they typically comment that the Tesla Network is too busy.
Volvo and Polestar have both signed on to use the NACS and the Supercharger network.
Thanks for this. Thinking of a P2 for my beautiful young bride to replace her now-aging 2017 VW Golf Alltrak and to join our 2022 Ford Mach-e CA Rt 1. It isn't hard to surpass Tesla drive and build quality. I do like the Model S but will never get the Model Y.
That polestar 1 was sweet. This is neat too and glad they went to RWD. But hope they do a stepped down version of the 1.
Nice looking interior but I'm not ready yet to go full electric. My next car would be a plug-in hybrid.
Still, they refuse to change the cupholder situation and no flat floor in the back, other than that like the other changes but others have them beat with interior space and being family friendly.
The basic design is not going to change. It wasn't designed as an EV. It was the Volvo s40 that Volvo didn't use. That's what the Polestar 2 is. The Polestar 3 is designed as an EV and the cupholder and console design is open, nothing like the Polestar 2. It's also different on the XC40, sister to the Polestar 2. However, Polestar designed the big console to make for a cockpit feel.
Having to have the center console open to access the second cupholder is honestly a deal breaker for me. It's good to see they fixed it in the Polestar 3 however but that's too expensive
i wonder witch company is going to be the first one to have a built in PS5/ Xbox one X on their infotainments.
charging on any network besides Tesla's is a nightmare....Also charging on a road trip is almost the same as gas...
Tommy likes it better than mini electric?
Seems like almost no physical buttons at all and the UI looked like it thought you had four separate android phones.
Where are Polestars made/built?
Drove one of these at an auto show earlier this year, couldn’t wait to get out of it. Very cramped, thin hard seats. Cheap interior panels. Felt exactly like I was driving a 2012 Kia Sorento. It looks great, hope these seats are better than the previous model.
The materials are all vegan or reclaimed plastic bottles and old fish nets. The certain Volvo buyer looks for sustainability in their purchases, not all out luxury. Though there is a leather seating option.
@@normt430 Car doesn't seem cheap at all. It seems very solid and as you said, the interior is more sustainable than luxury. However, the Polestar 3 will be Scandinavian style luxury and the Polestar 4 is mostly as well. This is the entry -level car and it is about performance. Yes, it's not a roomy car but it's OK for 4 people who aren't tall.
Previous model looked better at the front.
Great video! I just ordered the RWD Polestar 2 here on Kangaroo Island and it gets delivered to me next month. I went Pilot only as I did not want the sunroof or wetsuit seats. I will never own Tesla because their cars are majorly meh and also Elon. Also, the AWD charges at 205kw too, but just too much power for me, not needed as I want my to be a road trip machine. Also it's vegan so no leather wheel. Ps I graduated from CU Boulder's school of journalism in 1995!
Why is there still a drive tunnel???
The Polestar 2 is based off the Volvo XC40 which has ICE in form of diesel and PHEV around thr world.
I root for any car that can challenge Tesla - competition is good for everyone. Sadly, this doesn't cut it. Price, Tech, charging network, performance, range - in every meaningful way it falls short. At nearly 60% price advantage at lower end Tesla has nothing to worry.
So in Canada where I live; Base Polestar 2, 55-58$ K price Canadian, 515km EPA range, 0-60 mile 6 seconds, top speed 200km/hour. Base model 3, 55$ K Canadian, 438km EPA range, 0-60 mile 5 seconds, 225km/hr top speed. So in other words a base model 3 has a slight performance edge, barely, and maybe better tech, whereas the base Pol 2 DESTROYS Tesla on range, build quality, style and design/luxury, the stuff that actually matters to most, for basically the same price…. Charging networks shouldn’t be that important either as most EV owners should charge at home, otherwise it isn’t smart to buy any EV for most. Pol 2 clear winner🎉
I bought a polestar 2. 3 weeks later it lost 5000€...
I'd say it's the car of the 90s farmer. It's solid, but otherwise it's not that great.
The pluses :
- quiet up to 90 km/h
- the interface is practical and fluid
- torquey engine
- it's not a tesla
Minuses
- not a very incisive drive
- much less efficient than the tesla
- few storage spaces, somes really not pratical
- rear seats for children
- no car parking (crazy eh)
- opening the boot with your foot works one time out of 2
- the adaptive cruise control makes you puke
- the polestar app is ultra slow
Clearly, my next car won't be a Polestar.
This will be good

Good review - although prob just compare fit and finish to something other that Tesla, as that f&f is absolute garbage
I am really impressed with this car. $50k is not affordable thought
The swedish can't design a cupholder efficiently huh? Still some odd qualities, the jack, but no spare, which they have the room under the liftgate, but hey, I wouldn't buy one, good video.
The cup holders ruin this car for me. my wife and I like both having drinks up there and flipping up the arm rest is a design fail
that shift though? WTF?
The lack of rear headroom and the general lack of visibility out the narrow windows are deal-breakers for me. I regularly drive/drove my previous Model 3 and current Model Y with four adults. And the Polestar is slow.
The sub-4 !and 455 hp is not slow considering it is based on a XC40 ICE platform.
@@normt430 The new 2024 Polestar 2 RWD which was the focus of this video is under 300HP and has a 0-60 of 5.9 seconds. I test drove a dual-motor Polestar 2 in Atlanta back in 2021. Versus my 2018 RWD Tesla, it was slow or at least felt slow.
@@bikergeekgd wait, are you saying the dual motor p*2 felt slower than the rwd model 3?!? it's objectively over a second faster. your bias is now officially showing.
@@suvann540i The sales numbers and success of the Tesla variants over the Polestar and Volvo options are conclusive. After trying Tesla and Polestar, I bought and own the better car, an M3 RWD and now an MYP.
@@bikergeekgd yes because the most popular car is the superior car. that's how the world works. popular = best. using your logic you should have bought a toyota carolla. "The sales numbers" don't lie.
Great specs and nice-looking car, but Geely.
Designed and engineered in Sweden by Volvo.
@@normt430 It's made in China with 99% Chinese parts content. The only Swedish bits exist for marketing purposes.
@@1970351C2V only 95% to be exact. It is so well made compared to some other ICE and EV's today, Lyft uses it as Lux tier, one up from stand Lyft and Lyft XL.
At 6’ this vehicle is a non-starter. Cleverly hiding the cup holders showcases the narrow cabin piano back center piece. Consuming space with silly directional switches seems Ol school in a never has been old product. Keep it off the screen yes, but there are plenty of other solutions to keep it from taking up 6sq inches that could’ve held another wireless charger and cup holder both. 🤷🏻 Why a slower charging DNA for two motor variant is just lazy engineering and will only tick off the unobservant buyer who bought the top trim for its features. 🤦🏻 9:02
Some countries (I believe Europe) get faster charging on dual motor models 😐
The front cup holder is a bad design on this car as you not be able rest your arm well the passenger has there drink in the holder odd
Another reason not to buy the first version of a new car. The polestar 2 is exhibit a
Yup those pesky start buttons 😅
We all know how these "big numbers" translate in real life scenarios...
Can’t see electric cars ever becoming affordable. Unless the battery pack is garbage by the time it gets there and needs replacing
Horrible headroom in the back seat. Not nearly the HP and torque it should have for $50k plus and basically it's not very attractive. It's a hard pass for me
Still way to expensive Even the standard range, highland model 3 looks better
this is not the basic if you have the pilot and plus pack lol
The battery sticker seems pointless and a waste of $$$$😂
I won't pay that kind of money for a Chinese car..
First! 😊
That glass roof. Yuck.
I prefer my roof to be metal. Blocks out the sun/heat and survives a hailstorm or a object hitting it much better.
Glass roof is an option.
Tesla Model 3 Highland: Hold my beer.
Tesla looks like a joke next to this car
It is way better than Tesla
Can’t get past the cup holders and that stupid design.
this is not affordable
Great video Tommy, listen you cannot compare this tiny and slow Polestar with Tesla model 3 or Y, I don't care about the fit and finish I'm not gonna eat the damn thing just gonna drive it, model Y is the best out there as of today and the sale numbers show that.
Not better than the new model 3, this polestar is expensive, lack of dealerships, it's not available to purchase over 150 miles away, if you do won't have any service, center console is cramped , with 2 plastic pieces hitting and hurting your side jne, just awful. Everything else is good,
0:01 - Muskrat is nothing but a ghoul who's ignorance and ego continue to cost Ukrainian lives.
It's Polestar for me, and twice on Sundays.
Interiors of polestars 2s are so closed in and boring
All glass roof, no thx, I don't want cancer😂
Plain glass already filters out nearly all UVB and UVC, and about 25% of UVA, but this glass sunroof has an added UV filter. 🤡
This car will hold no value. Have a look at with the 2022's are selling for. There is no possibility of any type of federal tax credit in the states.
But I know a lot of people like to throw money away. The math on this thing just doesn't make sense. Until these car manufacturers can't compete with Tesla you are just throwing money at vanity badging.
