With water steaming out of the sauce, the sides of the pot need a constant scraping down to keep that thickened tomato on the edge from being wasted.

John, the poor woman who's grieving inconsolably is the mother of the deceased son, not her husband. I have to say the actress is outstanding in translating a heartbreaking and realistic performance in this scene.
