Your video is one of the better ones I've been looking for. You are actually smart and not taking risks and actually covering up some critical stuff just in case. I'm gonna do the same. Then just do the critical stuff and stuff I covered up by hand with a damp rag etc. I need my car to work after I'm done! lol
I had done it before with other vehicles and never had a problem. The best ally is to have patience to cover all the electronic components for a good wash. Great video and thanks for sharing....cheers!!!
I recently got an 07 Civic coupe and when I popped the hood, I was shocked at how much salt was in the engine bay, I got the car without any splash guard underneath, no fender liners or anything in the wheel wells. So, thank you for the help!
One best Videos i have seen for cleaning the engine compartment. Ive been keeping my 04 Accord EXV6 Sedan. With only 90,900 miles. Real nice purchased it with 66,501 back in 2020.
Nice vid!! I have an 09 Civic LX so the engine bay is almost identical to yours with a few exceptions. Gonna give this a go tomorrow on my day off from work just in case anything doesn't work after. Cheers man!
Thanks for this video 👍. My Honda engine haven't been wash since day 1, lol, 3 years now. 😄. No oil nor grease seen thou but bit of dust settle here and there. going to give her an egnine was at last after 3 years.😄
This might be a dumb question but where does the air duct connect too at the bottom? I see it curve down.. I'm asking cuz my civic dx didn't come with an air duct and the air box just has a hole in it from where the air duct is supposed to be.
What if you have already wash the engine with water without covering and EGR connector, plugs, coil packs, o2 sensor etc. how do you fix the problem if the is not moving as fast as it used to ?
does a 2012 civic non si have vtech engine too? my friend has a si model and i can feel and hear when the vtech kicks in but i cant feel it on mine i have the 1.8L exl model.
with the r18, vtech is basically reversed from what you expect from other models. the little eco button is part of it. it changes cam profile to improve economy instead of changing to improve power. having driven a k24 on 91-93 octane as advised in the user manual, i honestly miss the eco button after driving an r18 for two years. 39mpg hwy down to 31(at best, usually 25 for normal driving) with the k24.
Anyone know what the part that has the blue cable connected to it called? I’ve notice my car gives off steam/smoke. I want to do some research about it but I have no idea what the whole part is called.
What cleaning solution did you use? I just bought a used civic and the engine bay is bad, there’s oil everywhere and wanna know if what you used would work
What's that thing mounted to the engine (with the aluminum cover) with the blue cable connected to it ? My keeps getting hot as soon as I turn on my car
@@doublehelix3306 Both alcohol and brake cleaner can dry out and damage rubber and plastic components. Not smart to spray it all around your engine bay. I use Meguiar's All Purpose Cleaner for the bay and finish it with 303 Aerospace Protectant on all rubber and plastic.
@@ben-7403 I use it for machine parts, not plastic. Mostly just steel and aluminum. And it was directed at a 12 year neglected car. I just use water because I dont neglect my car.
Hey when you get a chance bro check out my channel and look at the video of my Honda Civic making a weird noise at cold Start, maybe you can help me figure it out what it is
Check the exhaust heat shields and catalytic converter heat shields. It also looks like the car has a aftermarket exhaust on it. Did you buy it new or used? Does the noise happen when you're driving or only strictly on cold starts?
It's not a full exhaust, cheap Chinese cover $16 on eBay, only happens on cold starts but I started noticing it sounds a little bit when I'm taking off at first on first gear, after that I won't hear the noise again until the morning, that noise is driving me crazy bro, nobody I know knows what is it, i'm going to have to leave it at Honda overnight so they can hear the noise in the morning

I really recommend getting the splash shields installed. May be a piece of plastic but it protects the engine components.

That's a gem
Thanks! Just bought me a used civic for work but wanting to take care of her. Foil technique was genius.

Awesome! Thanks for the video. Now I know how to clean the engine bay in the Civic ;)
Thanks brother!
You're welcome.
Thank you so much for making the video I requested! You're Awesome!
Thanks! Sorry for the delay!
Neat little vid.
Will keep on deck for future reference.
I appreciate your videos. Watch most of them
I am terrified to do this to my car but it needs a wash so bad.
You'll be fine. Just cover up the ECU, alternator, and other sensitive electronics.
Thanks for this video 👍. My Honda engine haven't been wash since day 1, lol, 3 years now. 😄. No oil nor grease seen thou but bit of dust settle here and there.

I don't think I'm brave enough to spray water on the engine like that. Almost gave me heart attack when you did that. XD
Memo Pony you’ll be fine. Just cover the sensitive stuff and you’ll be good.
Same here. I am not enthusiast of washing engine bay but I love to watch when others do :)
Thank you for sharing this video, helpful and gave me tips on what to do.
Great video, i'm still waiting on those front brakes bro lol, take your time😁
glad to see this, easy as hell but for my case I have coldair intake and need to put foil in it too lol.
This one is really helpful, thank you for the video!
Foil technique. Smart. Thank you!
I drive a 2013 Honda Civic LX, would it be the about same procedure?
yes any car in that matter
At what intervals should valve adjustment be done?
How many kilometers
Like at 100k miles
This might be a dumb question but where does the air duct connect too at the bottom? I see it curve down.. I'm asking cuz my civic dx didn't come with an air duct and the air box just has a hole in it from where the air duct is supposed to be.
The intake resonator
You disconnected the battery first right ?
No I didn't
What if you have already wash the engine with water without covering and EGR connector, plugs, coil packs, o2 sensor etc. how do you fix the problem if the is not moving as fast as it used to ?
pop the hood and let it dry. hopefully the electronics didn't get too damaged
does a 2012 civic non si have vtech engine too? my friend has a si model and i can feel and hear when the vtech kicks in but i cant feel it on mine i have the 1.8L exl model.
Yes almost all hondas have vtec. The Si has the k24 motor while the normal civics have the r18 motor.
VTec works differently on the SI vs other models. Vtech has kind of the opposite effect with 1.8L, as it's for fuel economy.
Pedal to the floor till the needle touches the red
my 2012 civic ex sedan is kinda slow :(
with the r18, vtech is basically reversed from what you expect from other models. the little eco button is part of it. it changes cam profile to improve economy instead of changing to improve power.

What kind of vacuum is that? I’m looking for a small one with a blow function
It's the armor-all vacuum. It's a great vacuum and blower, best bang for your buck.
Adrian you can use any small shop vac that has a port to blow the air out, just hook up the hose to that and it becomes a blower.
Just reverse your shop vac…
Anyone know what the part that has the blue cable connected to it called? I’ve notice my car gives off steam/smoke. I want to do some research about it but I have no idea what the whole part is called.
A/F ratio sensor
What cleaning solution did you use? I just bought a used civic and the engine bay is bad, there’s oil everywhere and wanna know if what you used would work
Link in the description, best cheap cleaner.
What kind of brush you use?
The one I used in the video is a hog's hair brush.
Thank you idol, now i know what to do👌
Can I used pressure wash? Whit aluminum covered?
No pressure wash
Spray must be diluted with water? Or can be applied directly as it comes from amazon?
You can dilute it or use it direct
@@MrRangerZr1 thank you, very helpful your video!
I never thought of tin foil that’s smart 🤟🏽
What are the names of the things inside you car you covered with foil ?
ignition coil, egr valve, ecu etc. Basically the sensitive electronic components.
@@MrRangerZr1 .. thank you ! Appreciate it
Can anyone tell me in 1:25 he cover that stuff what its called like that black big motor what its name and its work near oxygen sensor wires!

Mike Mike 3286 the catalytic converter

That is O2 sensor, install on the exhuast manifold.
The catalytic convertor is underneth the car, connected to the exhuast pipe.
What kind of chemical are you using in that spray bottle? Is it a little dish soap or some kind of degreaser?
Regular car soap. I use Meguairs super degreaser now.
Just get a damp rag and detail it by hand. Takes like 5 mins, and yes I have the same car.
Nothing wrong doing it by hand but this is more effective.
Yea and if you've neglected it for 12 years like me a damp rag wont do anything
Denatured alcohol and breakleen. That's what I clean most machine parts with. Denatured alcohol can get a lot of nasty shit off.

Down south of the states
thanks buddy
Do you use any soap?
I use regular car soap. Don't like using heavy degreasers unless needed.
Thanks a lot. I followed your directions and the result was amazing!
Very helpful thanks bro 😎👍🏻
😁👍🏻
What do you need to cover up, to spray it down?
Did you watch the video?
do you have an Ig by anychance?

I risk it for my viewers...
Risk what engines get wet all time

Sounds like something got in the muffler or the muffler internals broken off.
MrRangerZr1 I took it to Honda Friday night so they came here Saturday morning they said it is a bad Catalytic converter 😩 $500 just for the part
Straight pipe it or universal cat installed at a muffler shop. Heck try finding a used cat.
