Watch your input levels when recording these demos. Got some cracking. I had the RD 700NX and just upgraded to the 800 and WOW, what an upgrade. Granted Kurzweil is a force to be reckoned with but this is so straight forward it's eerie. Not a lot of effects but just great sounds. And that's what we want. If you want effects buy a pedal. If you want a great sounding keyboard buy the Roland RD 800

The Roland RD800 sounds great, do you experience any distortion when layering 3 or more sounds and using the sustain pedal. I heard this is a problem with 128 polyphony?
I got a question does this keybaord have realistic sounds of strings, cello violins, french horns, etc etc?.. Cuz i want to buy this keyboard and play epic film music on this pls answer me thx

However, the Roland can't compete with Korg when it comes to either stacking sounds and to modify them or to create rythms and backing tracks. Neither can the Roland compete with Yamaha in realistic sounds (I mean those strings were really horrible). And Rolands screen should have been larger..... And why all those sound effects? Why? However, Roland focuses on what it is: It is a stage piano that has the best piano sound of them all. So me? My first piano of choice now would be the Roland RD-800. Because I want the best key-action and the best piano sound. Anything else is extra. I'd also like a Yamaha CVP-model for the Natural Articulation sounds but I guess I can't have them both. But I gotta say that the looks of the RD-800 is not as good as the 700 (imho). It does not look "pro". It looks too... smooth and non-aggressive in comparison. Is there any reason why the RD-800 is so "cheap"? Does it feature the same amazing I-can't-be-destroyed build quality as the RD700? I mean the old model was more expensive. Both Yamaha's and Korg's rival pianos are over 2000 USD. What has been removed as both weight and price has been lost?
all round better sounds.. but.. I prefer the feel of the old NX and I like black.. still don't like the Clavi sounds.. I find they lack any aftertouch like the motif or nord. organs.. ok.. bass sounds not bad.. but is it enough for me to upgrade from the NX?.. no.. I have tweaked the shit out of the E piano sound (had to because the stock ones are shit). although the Rhodes sounds are much better.. but I also have a motif XF6 which has great sounds.. it's a good combo to use together.. Roland NX on the bottom and Yamaha XF6 on top... if you end up buying a new one every year because it has better sounds.. I think your better off going with a sampler keyboard.. might last longer and give you more options long term..
HONESTLY, THIS WAS A BAD DEMO. how do you demo the organ without using the leslie effect and chorus? the reed piano demo was HORRIBLE. no wonder roland sales has dropped off
there is no V/C in this tonewheel engine, and the Leslie is whack. The next model RD-2000 has a better additional Leslie effect after a firmware update.
For real good TW sounds look at GSI Gemini. RD pianos dont even come close. You need a setup with an organ keybed and the GSI and the RD for piano sounds.
My God, I've just watched it twice for the sheer hell of it. Jack's a great entertainer and that's a great product

Wistbacka - Why all the sound effects? Because it’s GM compatible, and they are part of the standard GM soundset.

The only stage piano that will give Nord a run for its money! This thing is wonderful (still prefer a nord though)

Andy Young rd 800 is a great piece. I have a kronos 2, and a nord electro as well. But having a stage piano is a different level
