I made longbows years ago. I’ve never had anyone call me with any issues. Never a delaminating etc. The clear coat can easily be redone and the bow looks new. It is a labor of love to build them. No mistakes allowed. Made one that was 90# draw. Materials cost about $90 then. Sold some for $450-$500.
I purchased a Bodnik Slick Stick long bow used from Rocky Mountain Specialty Gear. As recurve shooter I was very impressed and surprised $265. dollar used bow was that good! I can’t imagine why any bow at any quality level would have a price point of $3000. it’s just not in my wheelhouse. Enjoy!
I had no problems with warranty with bearpaw. I had delamination in the riser and the glue gave way on the limb tip on my mohawk. I took a picture of it and sent the pictures to bearpaw. They sent me a new riser and limbs with no charge . I live in Canada and they sent me a new bow free of charge... Back then my bearpaw cost me 500.00 Canadian.. I also like my cheap China black hunter longbows for170.00 as the bow just shoots good...
Wow - that's a chunk of change! I've had my 60# Damon Howatt longbow for 40 or so years and still shoots as well as ever after thousands of shots. That sure is a pretty bow though!
Beautiful bow, i have 2 Bearpaw bows (not the Bodnik Signature longbow) and they are superb but i also have 3 Falco longbows and they are also superb and i would say the equal to the Bearpaw bows that i own. John England,UK
One piece version is 1700 Euro, break down version 2500 Euro over here in Germany. Here in Germany the Bodnik/Bearpaw bows have like a cult following. Not bad bows but i saw several of the highter priced ones with twisted limbs, bad tiller and rought string grooves in my archery clubs and at tournaments. The bows used to be made in Germany, later on eastern Europe and now China. Guess what. Prices have gone up ever since, even before the pandemic and all this shit.
All the high end Bodnik bows are manufactured in Tachov (Czech Republic) to a very high standard, with the 30 year warranty. The Bearpaw Penthalon product are made to a more affordable price point elsewhere (Asia as far as I understand it) and don’t come with the 30 year warranty. I have one of the Penthalon products in my collection and when customer service was needed, under the 2 year warranty, it was handled professionally and the riser was replaced. Archers I have known and met, with Bodnik custom bows, have overwhelmingly been positive about their experiences.
HI, Well comparing Bodnik bows with Bear Archery is not the right comparaison when it comes to the signature bows. Better compare the Bodnik bows with Black Widow or Big Jim's bows. Henry, truly is a great guy, excellent archer and made his dream come true with his company, and his bows are just insanely good with most of them a lifetime warranty. but Big Jim's and Black Widows are not bad either. It's all in the eyes of the beholder, but you'll never go wrong with a bow from Henry Bodnik! If something bad would happen , you'd just a get a free bow ! His name means everything to him. He will always go above and beyond to make sure the customer is a happy one !
Another is the newer GREAT PLAINS TRADITIONAL ARCHERY COMPANY, they will make a bow custom to order within reason of the styles of wood layups and handle styles they make including stippling. Oh, do ask right now (not on the menu) if you need the Kids bows the Recurve or Longbow at a draw of 24--26 inches for your draw, some adults me included got the bows, I did at the standard 24 inch draw but then my draw is 24.5---25 inches, those kids bow models can draw to 28 inches but no much further like 29 inches if by accident a few times. Same with the Howard Hill model that comes normally with a universal notched/locator grip as it is not up on the website. All The bow models are a 6--12 months wait right now.
Yeah... no...Bodnik is taking the piss. I'm german and met him. Nice guy, good products, but also very much in love with money. Get yourself a second hand 350-400€ quick stick and you have pretty much the same bow. Btw Mycarta which is a big part of the riser isnt even a wood. Its mainly linen fabric and epoxy. Actually quite a cheap material with some awesome qualities for bows. Still... Way, way, way too much money.
The non Custom bows they make are for USA in the $550--$700 range and still have a 20 or 25 year warranty on them. The longbow with universal left and right, has about a 10% chance of breaking as a standard production bow.
@@caseysmith544 Yeah, these kind of prices are nonsense. Can´t blame him for charging that much though if there are idiots out there willing to spend that kind of money...
@@theREDC0de Then get the Bear priced Bearpaw versions of the bows that are made cheaper in Asia or India somewhere. They are not bad bows either. I was offering up a solution to the Bearpaw models that are about as good as a Bear model is currently and in USA they offer more models of the stock Bodnik bows from Germany that have a good warranty unlike Bearpaw that is only 5 models at best.
The non signature versions that are more basic are in the $550 to $700 range and they have a 20 or 25 year warranty however the duel sided longbow has some issues as people have pointed out and really only the signature version is the one that is guaranteed to last, the other should but 10% of the time the bow does not.
Thats a $100.00 a year for the warranty! I have 18 Traditional bows , the ones I bought laterly , I've watched reviews on UA-cam snd made the decision to buy them . There's alot of Great Traditional bows out there , For Far Less Money !
Harvey Archery custom bows $750.00 base price draw weight up to max 70lb three models Raptor, Crowned Eagle & Lillyhammer. As for Bickerstaffe makes longbows and flabows material wood used at least 200 years old all made by hand poundage max 60lb. Warbow poundage unknown? price £900.00 There are better and cheaper versions than paying £$3000.00 for a bow. As for me I get a Bickerstaffe reactment longbow bow 35lb 29 draw lengh hand made £250.00 a bargain.
I win 3-d and field archery competitions routinely with a $300 bow. It shoots great, Im used to it. I can understand a bow with dyed, impregnated burl, giraffe bone, water buffalo horn etc, but that bow really isn't anything special. $3,000? 🙄
That bow looks like it is overpriced by $2200. Looks like a $600-$800 longbow to me. A Toelke longbow looks a lot better, and so does a Centaur. My Centaur longbow was just over $1800 and a lot more care went into making it than this Bodnik overpriced bow.
By all respect, this is just something for blinded fanboys! Never ever this bow is worth 3K! But every day one idiot is getting up LOL Dont get me wrong here, the bow looks awesome...but common, 3K???? NEVER! I´d rather buy a Mathews Safari Monster for 1,8K LOL
$3K for a bow is a shitload. But, it is a quality product and probably worth every cent of it. You get what you pay for, and that's a beautiful bow! Would I pay that much for a bow? Not in my current income bracket. Would I if I was rich? Hell yes! It is an investment in yourself as an archer. If people complain about the price point, they are not meant to have that bow. A fact of life is you can't have everything. If you don't have the money, you can't have the bow. You also can't own an AMG S Class Mercedes Benz. The world doesn't owe everyone everything. We need to learn to live within our means. That doesn't mean, that if you do really believe something will make you happy, that you can't save up and work towards acquiring it if it is possible. I did that with my trad bow and arrows/accessories. A long wait until I could acquire and further before I could shoot it, but to me, that is also half the fun. Planning and expectation. Anyway, beautiful bow and great review Steve!
I think you need to do a lot more research on what constitutes a quality longbow instead of making generalisations such as "But it is a quality product and is probably worth every cent of it." There are far better looking bows made with more fit and finish than this Bodnick, and priced $1250 (entry level Blacktail longbows) and Big Jim's longbows, approx $1400-$1600.
So you buy a bow for 3000$ and you have to tape the sight window, because the bow has blemishes which could be used for aiming, according to wa rules. Couldn't they made it with an uniform looking wood in an area if sight window?

I have the bodnik slick stick and it has the same 30 year warranty so tell me why again the 3000$ signature series is the way to go??!!!

Do you sell Black Widow bows? Top of line hand made in Missouri USA
Love my Black Widow...
If you're saying $ 3,000 AUSTRALIAN dollars, that would be $ 1,956.79 US dollars.
Still a lot of cabbage.
