Sturer Emil. It's got the range, the gun depression and the firepower to take anything out on the field of battle. Only 15 shells though, so make them count.
I love how Bawz is a youtuber that actually brings somewhat of a lineup to help win the game for his team, and doesn't leave at the slightest sign of a game loss!
The better and more experienced I get the more I realise you don't usually need a 6+ vehicle lineup and you can usually make due with 2 vehicles and maybe a backup.

The problem is that even normally useless rifle caliber rounds from a plane will do you in.
It can actually excel in urban maps if you know the maps pretty well, its advantage is a very high gun placement and scope allows you to peak over a lot of urban terrain most can't and if you find a nice building to sit in makes it very hard for planes to even notice you, trick is to find a spot like this that can cover high traffic crossings at a good distance

It's my personal favorite tank. I don't know if the way i play it just catches people off guard but I take the Nashorn into somewhat close to medium engagements and still come out on top.
The Dicker Max - Nashorn are amazing for Hull Down Combat. I'm a passive sniper player most of the time, I only push when I'm positive I can make it to a good spot and help the team out.
I honestly love the Emil Sturer, one step below the nashorn. Get cannon with -15 degrees of depression. And the BR is better imho. If the Nashorn had more gun depression then you can just sit on top of hills sniping long distances but you really can’t. Still fun but still an open top with paper armor.
Well, proxy fuze would be unhistorical af... But I think it would be fun to have the crew automatically guess the enemies distancr and speed and setting the time fuze accordingly and have a decent way to manually set a fuze-distance.
On those sorts of vehicles they need to make it so that the driver in the hull can't be overpressured then put another crewman in the hull sitting next to him. That way even if you're hit by HE/HEAT you have 2 crewmen who always survive.
I have been taking a break from War Thunder and now I found you finally playing the Nashorn. Despite how overpressure and CAS can shred you, I found it deceptively survivable at times due to No armor best armor shenanigans. Taking around 25 rounds empties the ammo on the sides and many AP rounds simply pass right through the top superstructure without detonating. Since this thing is not very common and not considered that much of a threat, many people are not fully aware of its layout and might fail to disable you with one shot of AP. My preferred playstyle is using this as a first spawn and staying somewhat close to teammates. Just enough to know that they are engaged with something and take it out if its giving them trouble. Or park in chokepoints where enemies will drive right into my sights. In my lineup, my goal is to use it to soften the enemy as much as possible before I use the Tiger to clean up the rest late game.
My fav TD used to be Ferdinand, but when Gaijin up tiered it, I drop playing it. Shifted to Nashorn and never complain ). Almost same performance, except it is not tanking, it is just living a bit more under fire). My favorite application of his gun: Cargo port - those shoot outs along the highway, Tunisia - east spawn on a beach allows you to shoot tanks incoming to the city right from the spawn -:) and of course Firearc, and other big maps to use snipe shooting. Eastern Province? Where people can shoot from spawns directly 2450 meters to take out any tank who appeared out of hills (if your spawn on the west)
I often play the Flakbus and death by air with angry revenge kill is common, proxy fuse would be awesome, I probably get around one kill a month with the timed fuses on soft targets.
the gun depression is why the Dicker and the Sturer Emil are better, the gun at their BR doesn't really matter, the gun depression on those tanks is pretty much their only saving grace
@35:20 "German 88 proxy fuzes?" But the Germans never had proxy fuses during WWII, so it wouldn't be historical. But they SHOULD give tanks with time delay fuses much faster ranging/setting, since IRL they would have had someone yelling out the range for the loaders to set the fuse to as they were throwing them into the breech.
2:30 The discussion about why the Nashorn isn’t good does sum up quite well the problem with lightly armored TDs. I never bothered with TDs playing Germany in BR 1.0-3.7 since I always had good guns at my disposal, while the TDs do have better penetration or damage, they only matter in a few edge cases and the lack of a turret, thin armor, and open top just make them not worthwhile. I did use the ZiS-30 at BRs 3.3-3.7 in USSR since Russian guns are not as powerful and do struggle with against Sherman’s in frontal engagements and is inconsistent with the up-armored Pz.III and Pz.IV as well, so taking something with a more powerful gun does make sense but it was horrible otherwise. I didn’t have much success with the SU-85 but it was far more survivable. Sadly these vehicles are difficult to make worthwhile, since there isn’t any benefit to having far more penetration than necessary and you can’t make things more dead past a certain point. I only see them beneficial to nations with generally weak guns like low tier Japan, France, or Italy.
I still wonder why you cant elevate the mg34s upwards to disencourage planes... They have anti air visors and are clearly modeled on a pivot mount. Would be nice to crit a plane before getting quashed
Proxy fuzes would make those vehicles so much more fun to play, and considering this BR is always full of powerful props I think it would make the matches more interesting.
2 things I would say, I cannot imagine nashorn being above dicker-max. Nashorn have speed, but every other metrics is weaker. 105 on d-max and -15 depression is absurdly stronger. if you find a steep hill D can shoot without showing himself at all, which is nice.
the Nashorn is a great support vehicle, very good sniper, if you play it properly it can be a menace. And it has decent mobility for re-locating when needed. The gun for it's BR is just insane. Correct camouflage, bush it up and you're very good to go.
If you load the front of the Nashorn or any of the german SPGs with foliage you can sit right out in the open for at least one good shot. But you're not big on camouflage.
Instead of giving them proximity fuses, they should give each team a radar station on the map to feed rangefinding data to AA platforms. Make the timed fuzes take their timer setting from the range you set your scope to instead of having to rangefind to a random rock or tree.
Good to see that the Nashorn still can do the job - in the hands of someone that knows what they are doing - and at the same time deliver some funny comments on the way. Im impressed :)
Yup, I love the Nashorn, but as the BRs increase, I like the three SPGs less. Dicker Max is by far my favourite (I actually have a video on my channel where I use it) and the Sturer is fun, 128mm bonk is a joke and then the Nashorn just gets honked by most things and the 88 is pretty standard at 5.3 Not to mention it only has 5 degrees depression, compared to the Dicker Max and Sturer Emil with the ability to peek over hills (very useful)

@@shronkler1994 Yes, I agree that the 88 is a great gun at 6.7 and is kinda OP at 5.3, the pen is absolutely incredible, but post-pen and also armour isn’t great, at least compared to the Dicker Max and Sturer Emil. The Sturer Emil actually has more penetration with its upgraded round than the Nashorn’s Pzrgr 39/43 and has more post-pen explosives
what really kills this thing is the lack of gun depression. The Sturer Emil is a vastly superior vehicle, with actual armor and even a better gun - a full BR lower.
Regarding the video title, it's even worse in combined simulator battles, since you can spawn a plane immeadietly. If you roll thru an open field on a large map it's over. Sam if you show up in a destruction feed. I try to look where it happened and go after the open top vehicle. Marder, Dicker Max, Nashorn, VFW..

Nice! You should play the M103. It's funny how far it is from real life, because real life the M103 could pen the front of even the T10M, but in Gaijin-land it can't even pen the upper frontal plate of a Tiger II
Gotta luv it when you play a tank that needs a specific type of map and for many many games gaijin just doesn't want to give you a viable map for the tank you are grinding out. But around this BR I think is the most fun for tanks between 4.0 and 5.7 rite in that spot where its not a tank with a million different types of equipment and you have to use your good ole eye sight to spot enemy with out thermals.
With you and a few other content creators around playing this game and basically offering advice about map advice and positioning it is insane how many teammates so often seen completely oblivious as to a good way forward... It's like it's their first time playing the game, every time 😔😔😔
Nah, Nashorn was not SPAA, but flak bus actually was. Probably adding proxy fuse is not great idea, but time fuse mechanic should be reworked somehow in order to be more usable.
That first match, poor YanVit, man was just tryna recover from the first cheek clappin Odd gave him... And then Odd flips him over and does it again...😅😆
When a glass cannon like the Nashorn and the rolling bunker that is the Tiger II (even the Porsche) are within matchmaking distance of each other, you know there's a problem with Gaijin's balancing. Sure, you say it can fight 4.3, the likes of the KV-1 ZiS-5 and Churchill Mk III, heavies which can't stop that round at all. It can also fight the Jumbo 76 and late IS-2 at 6.3, not to mention HEATFS slingers. At that BR, it has literally no advantages over some of its own teammates, let alone the enemies it can face. I've said it before, I'll say it again. Gaijin needs to reduce the BR bracket from 1.0 to 0.7. That way, 5.3 would only fight a minimum of 4.7, and a maximum of 6.0. Apply this to the whole game, and it might solve so many problems.
Yo odd it's been like two years since you had a mid-low tier Sweden air support vid like the j21 a3. Just started playing Sweden so I'd love to see it!
My most played vehicle actually. Love it. I feel it's really survivable to most things but MGs. But that's usually not an issue as I sit at range mostly.
That's the typical German expirience if you play a TD like the Nashorn and you can't really push and take caps . Lot's of kills but you loose the game .
In the polen map I slaugther the spawn from longrange with the Nashorn. I would had gotten many nukes if it had it at that BR. Why not, I thinks it is fair as getting slaugthered by air everytime. War in a nutshell.
I like the new overpressure mechanic, I just think it's far to powerful. If it just stunned the crew for a period of time instead of out right killing them all. I think that would be a more balanced game.
I think over pressure is fine. People barely even use high explosive because it doesn’t do anything to most tanks unless it’s a meme caliber. But these things really suffer to as close air support and machine guns from everything.
i remember when i played the nashorn i had went into a brawl with a t-34-57 and we kept going around and around, it was so funny and even thought the t-34 had so many opportunities to shoot me i think they had breach damage or smth. i ended up killing 2 other tanks and the t-34 and died from a bomb literally inside my vehicle
Must admit it’s alway a pleasure to strafe these in a 20mm Corsair. In the right hands (and right conditions) this thing can easily turn the tide of a battle.

Multiple Shermans 76 losing on the move encounter with Nashorn frontally is like BRUH...
Lol! You said it! He did not angle today. Please do something with Dollar! I am waiting for so long to see that happening.
Odd try saying purple burgler alarm 3 times in your scottish accent
With you and a few other content creators around playing this game and basically offering advice about map advice and positioning it is insane how many teammates so often seen completely oblivious as to a good way forward...
It's like it's their first time playing the game, every time 😔😔😔
Nah, Nashorn was not SPAA, but flak bus actually was. Probably adding proxy fuse is not great idea, but time fuse mechanic should be reworked somehow in order to be more usable.
Yeah, if I am in CAS and see that there are enemy Nashorns, Dickers, or Waffletractors out and about, you better believe I am looking for them!
first time i hawe heard him sneeze 6:40 *silently* UAAAAACHAAAH👹👹👹
That first match, poor YanVit, man was just tryna recover from the first cheek clappin Odd gave him...
And then Odd flips him over and does it again...😅😆
Bro when you said “Tiger don’t die here” you sounded like a Dollar store Arnold Schwarznegger
I wish the 2 machine guns could cover more vertical space, to help deter strafing runs.
making oddbawz laugh is the best thing
I unlocked it a few days ago and this thing rocks
grind harder
@@subzerosugar7161 already on it
Or maybe they could change the game mechanic that adds the timed fuse setting to work off zeroing with its own sight instead of range finding
Hey Odd, thx for giving some love to the Nashorn and Me 410. Can you play the Japanese Sub-l-ll next?
Yeah the Pershing is a monster when down tiered. I got 8 kills with it just taking shots from panthers and tigers.
Yo bawz can you do a video on the M24 Chaffee sometime?
This video was awesome by the way
I like how you pronounced this vehicle correctly :)
Yo odd it's been like two years since you had a mid-low tier Sweden air support vid like the j21 a3. Just started playing Sweden so I'd love to see it!
Should try the amx-10 rc next. A french, wheeled vehicle that turns like it's a tank with neutral steering because why not.
My poor Dicker Max crew knows this pain all too well.
I take the 75mm m3 up to 5.3 to hurt tiger 1 feelings, I could imagine what someone your skills could do with it
In the polen map I slaugther the spawn from longrange with the Nashorn.
If you want a difficult challenge try playing the Churchill 1 but only using the secondary HE cannon
A Panzerjäger vid would be cool to watch
i do believe things like the flak bus should get proxy fuse but gaijin does not know what balance is
Must admit it’s alway a pleasure to strafe these in a 20mm Corsair. In the right hands (and right conditions) this thing can easily turn the tide of a battle.
i have the bst rounds for a long time with the nashorn. this is an awsome tank
Open top SPGs like this should get scouting and arty
They need some sort of buff
Just completed my 5.3 line up, even stock, this thing slaps, but yeah, you MUST play it a bit passive, always sneaking around in ambush
you know what’s even more of a cas magnet the VFW.
