- Peter gets knocked out during a robbery of a rare coin dealer. When he wakes and develops his film, he discovers that someone is trying to use him to frame an innocent person for the theft. Now he's in jail for contempt of court because he refuses to turn his pictures over to the police.

Nice to know that Peter can escape his cell, become Spiderman, fight bad guys and then get back to his cell, all unnoticed. During all the time he's gone, where are the guards? No patrols?

THIS was the episode being talked about in the first episode reviewed this season. Rita talking about Peter in the slammer. And Peter climbing out of prison was part of my favorite scenes from this series.
As a kid I didn't know about prison guards searching prisoners. So when I saw Peter in his Spidey suit I was happy to see Spider-Man.

It's unfortunate that the writers of this show veered off into making no sense at times. Spider-Man breaking out of the cell was ridiculous. There was nowhere for him to have his Spider-costume on his person in the cell. I guess the concept of Peter Parker busting out and retrieving his costume didn't occur to them, or they wanted to shoot the costume.
It's like in how "The Captive Tower" if the plastic explosive had blown the roof, the window washing gondola would have been out of commision. That means it could not have been used to send the money up to the computer room.
I don't blame the police for the search. I blame the judge who issued the warrant. It would be tossed in a trial. Otherwise anytime the police wanted to search, they'd get the janitor to make an anonymous phone call and use that to get the warrant.
The photo in question is perfectly shot. The camera is square to the subject, the gun conceals the face, and there is no blur. If I was a defense lawyer, I'd seize on that. Not to mention, the only witness who could authenticate it is hostile to the prosecution. Peter swears he didn't take the photo.
I'm unconvinced about the Mission: Impossible style caper at the end. I might buy it in today's world, but I don't know where they got the videotape equipment they'd need for that news broadcast back in 1978. VCRs were expensive then, and pretty bulky. Today's writers might have had them hack his smartphone.
Yeah, Pete's Spidey outfit in the jail. Yeah, sure!
I seem to recall a couple of times in the comics where Pete put something over his head, took off his shoes and did the Spidey thing in his civvies.

So does your reaction to this episode mean you're more in favour of pairing Peter & Julie than you are the match of Peter & Rita?
I CAN'T DECIDE! ARGH!!!! Seriously, Julie really grew on me, so I'm okay with either of them. I think Julie may win out, though, for reasons I'll mention next week.
