This is something sorely lacking from fighting games. Street Fighter may be the best with the challenge mode or w/e it is called for each character. Tekken should have a dash training (with dash cancels as part of it), punish training, and poking training at least. This shouldn't be hard to figure out for those developers.
You want to move quickly from Noob to Pro. 1.Stick to 1 character! . Some guys like easy input. Other like more complex input like Akuma. More Brute like Jack or more agile like Xiaoyu. Be diligent in making that character your main. You will never become good if u play too many characters. 2.Practice all command, and breakthrough with stands. For me Steve Fox. E.g 1 ,2 , forward(hold). I can use that as a down pressure with 1,2, forward(hold), down + 1. 3.Devote yourself into learning juggles. Long distance carry, and short distance to wall. Practice in different stage and different zone from the wall . Learn your launchers and punishes from blocking low attack and how ur counter hit do. Learn to do grounding pressure with hit that will re-ground the opponent like bk+1 with Bryan Fury. 4. The purpose of learning juggle isn't about trying over 4/7 times doing the most damaging juggle but learning to do them naturally. Big difference between a good juggler and a good player 5. Learn to play on both side right and left side because side swapping do happen in a match. 6. Once you finish assimilating the game-play of a character. Focus your attention during match on your opponent. Don't look at your controller , don't focus your attention on your character but keep an eye on the opponent. It can be hard to go on practice mode to learn and counter every move set of all characters some do it but end up being confused. While focusing your view on your opponent. it's easier to notice his low attack and if you're good, you will just frame a down+forward to drop him off for a juggle. 7. Even "Ultra Hard" mode isn't perfect. it's still an AI mean to repeat the same mistake. It's good to play vs the computer at first, but try to play vs good people even if u lose. U will improve
Luc Konosuke that's some good stuff I've been a tekken player since the tekken 1 and needed a refresher since moving to street fighter and it's good too see another Steve player out there
dude, you should like do blogging or something, I'm also a Steve main, still learning him, but I used to button mash alot at first, material like this can be very helpful. I'm sure you'll probably even get quite a bit of subscribers if you put out more content like this since there are newcomers to tekken everywhere now more than ever. thanks for this comment
i agree with the exception that you should take all the characters to training mode to become familiar with where and how they hit in their strings so that you can better defend yourself by not guessing if to block high or low, side step or challenge the attack and how.
Thanks for the basic to pro tutorials. I love that your out there helping tekken 7 noobs like me to level up our game. I just started playing competitively in tournaments at my local scene and I’ve tried watching Aris’ T7 tips for beginners at Avoiding The Puddle but, I like the way you format your videos better and your teaching style more.
Dude I'm only about 3 and a half minutes in, but one thing I love is that you showed what it looks like when you do it slow, that's something I've NEVER seen before in any guide for anything, that's amazing!
Dude, I'm reading this nearly 2 years later and it's excellent! Actually understanding A LOT more about Tekken just watching this first part. Will definitely be watching the rest!
Thank you because most people just talk too much during their tutorial videos and it's just annoying because they don't get to the point. PROPS TO YOU BROTHER🤜🏽🤛🏽👍🏽
I dont usually write commentaries but I think this video deserves it. Thank you for uploading it, I was completely lost in Tekken but now I know how to start learning. Thank you.
Just picked up Tekken 7 after only playing Tekken Tag Tournament 1 and 2. Its really interesting to see how learning things like this makes winning more rewarding than just button mashing. These are such a great help!
Kids nowadays are becoming younger and younger but getting increasingly better at videogames. That's especially evident in competitive smash. Eleven and twelve year olds winning tournaments lol it's crazy
Just got into Tekken coming from FIGHTERZ. Holy this game is hard LMAO. Thought having 400 hours in DBZF would help but these videos are godlike man definitely helping me
I played tekken on ps2 as a kid and in my middle school yrs I played tekken ta 1 n 2. I never took it seriously, but I just bought Tekken 7 and I really want to get into this game and main King for the nostalgia. These are helpful, so thank you.
im a NRS player and man oh man i didnt realize how babied we are lol, but the learning curve in this game is so crazy and fun. love this vids man keep them going!
This helps me. I love fighters but I never got to play many as I grew up I just picked up Tekken 7 and it's really really hard to get combos. Tekken is my favorite and now because if you I get to learn the combos and stuff. You are the hero mankind needed :')
Hey man! I know this is an older video but it's been a year since I got tekken 7 and this was the first video I've watched since I didn't know what I was doing, now I main Bryan and I'm able to do combos easily. thank you so much man!
The mechanics of this game are amazing. I have never played any fighting game, but this game is so good. Thanks for the tutorial. It really helped a lot
Helpped me a lot played a against a guy and he kept grabbing me 😅 I realized that I wasn't pressing 1+2 which saved my life, we both enjoyed fighting for about 7 matches wining and losing. Real thanks for the tutorial bro hope you the best
Big tip to newbies: There's so many places you can improve your game, if you are getting confused on more complex mechanics then move on to something else. There's combos, punishment, side stepping, stage awareness, there are many many many areas to work on your game and improve yourself. You can't hit a wall in this game because that would mean there's a wall all around you. There's always some other aspect you can improve in yourself in Tekken. That's something I got from Aris.
You probably get told this alot, but your videos are GOLD. Growth and encouragement are essential to the heart of any community, and you promote both with pride and class. I gave you a shoutout in my latest video while learning this damn game, but I pronounced it wrong lmao. I'll fix it on the next video. Much love, man, and keep up the stellar work. :)
Was feeling intimidated about picking up this game ever since it came out bc my friends are super into it. These vids are very well thought out and explained keep it up
i am really enjoying the game right now, i forgot how much i actually love this series. Good work on the videos its helping me remember a lot. you should do a video on side stepping, wall splats, screw etc it would help me a lot
Just subbed. Thanks for doing a series like this. I play good at times and play like garbage at times. Some thing like this shows me what kind of habits I need to have. And some combos on top of that.
And you just earned a sub. I have ALWAYS loved Teeken from the very 1st Teeken. I never bothered to learn Teeken when I was younger and just button mashed. Try to either crush with a low, block and punish, or duck and punish (for highs at least). After knocking them down, stay in their face with mixups and lots of counter hit launchers, it at least scares them a bit of pressing so many buttons
Hey I know it's been a while since these were uploaded but I just wanted to say thank you! I'm a newcomer to 3D fighters and your tutorials helped so much, thanks! ^-^
Hey man, most likely you won’t see this comment due to how long ago you posted this video but I just want to say thank you so much! This video was very helpful.

Thanks so much for this guide. Since this is a recent post, is this guide still accurate 4 years later? I'm trying to get into T7
cool to see players put out tutorials namco-bandai couldn't put in themselves. All the noobs appreciate this kind of stuff man. thank you!!!!
Sir1626 word like shit make the noobs and beginners feel welcome lol
lol, this def helps.

Jack Burton Nah, SF tutorials suck. They barely explain anything. Skullgirls, Blazblue and Guilty Gear are all leagues above it, prolly top 3.
Ah cool. I haven't played those (I played GGXXR back in the day). UA-cam does what Namco don't.
You want to move quickly from Noob to Pro.

yeah it's weird that the game doesn't seem to have a tutorial mode or that the story mode doesn't try and build newer players up...
Phillip Alcorn It does try it just isn't very in- depth.
HighLanderPony what if... they made a tutorial where a young kazuya is being taught how to fight by heihachi or kazumi???
Maybe because they're on their 7th standard title? Probably more concerned about the current fanbase than the newcomers.
Logan Boyette ok fair enough
Tekken is the kinda game that goes hard on new players, you kinda have to know the combos and stuff

Lol meanwhile he took 60 seconds before he actually got the game started
Mr. Sausage Fest 60 seconds complaining about that? Go watch the other tutorials then tell me how long they took.
King Jae! Thanks for this bro, we're Tekken noobs over here & will be putting this to good use!
I dont usually write commentaries but I think this video deserves it. Thank you for uploading it, I was completely lost in Tekken but now I know how to start learning. Thank you.

thank you so much about telling me what is 1 2 3 4 . I couldnt figure out devil jins stupid controls. and again thank you so much
My niece had been kicking my ass in this game and she's 7 year old. Now I'm trying to learn just to stop humiliating myself against a kid.

The way my game has IMMEDIATELY improved by watching this video is crazy. Thank you so much!
New to tekken. was slightly just a button smasher, but this gives me hope. The community will grow partly because of you I think.
I played tekken on ps2 as a kid and in my middle school yrs I played tekken ta 1 n 2. I never took it seriously, but I just bought Tekken 7 and I really want to get into this game and main King for the nostalgia. These are helpful, so thank you.

I love you for this. You have no idea how crucial this series helps us noobs out. 5/5 good stuff.
Great video. I'm trying to learn how to play Tekken, and there's not a lot of resources to use. Your tutorials help me a lot.
The tutorial you give out is really precise and easy to follow

New too Tekken, played most DoA but nice too see someone doing some good guides! will be watching your stuff to become a better player!
Thanks for these guides. Havent really played a Tekken since 3 but it was too daunting to get back into it.
You probably get told this alot, but your videos are GOLD. Growth and encouragement are essential to the heart of any community, and you promote both with pride and class. Thanks for the tutorial !

Thanks for your vids dude. Getting back into tekken after playing 5 on the PSP for years.
Excellent tutorial man. Look forward to your next vids because I have no clue what I'm doing on this game lol
great video. keep them coming. As a former tekken player that's been gone far too long (tekken 3) this is a great re-intro to the series.
Brilliant vids mate, haven't played since the ps1 era so this is much appreciated.
i am really enjoying the game right now, i forgot how much i actually love this series. Good work on the videos its helping me remember a lot. you should do a video on side stepping, wall splats, screw etc it would help me a lot
this is the first time that i'm going to learn tekken . thank you! Cheers
how did it go for you
Ive always loved watching tekken but have always sucked when i try to play, thanks man.
However now I really want to learn the game. I am much more patient and willing to learn now than I was a young patient kid.
The really funny part is it was my mom that recommended this game. No I'm not kidding. She doesn't even play games but I told her I was going to buy SFV and she said what about Teeken? I went and looked a videos online and purchased Teeken 7 today.
I have a doctor's appointment I am not to keen on and saving Tekken 7 till than but I intend to watch some of these videos to get the mechanics of the game down in my head.
Also I love that their is a gallery mode. IE Nostalgic Movie land.
And may i just add this game was criminally under marketed. Like to the point I didn't even know/forgot it existed.
TLDR: Thank you for these videos and you just earned a sub.
Very good video I had always been in the fgc mainly with street fighter and I was planning to try tekken but now I know how to read the combos
look at one of your old videos and i gained cancer, thank goodness this one cured it.
Very useful video jay, keep it up!
Bro ur content is amazing, so much quality content by u , hats off to you
yhea, it sucks that side step wont work on button smasher players im always getting caught with mid attack punish, whats the best way to prevent that?
Try to either crush with a low, block and punish, or duck and punish (for highs at least). After knocking them down, stay in their face with mixups and lots of counter hit launchers, it at least scares them a bit of pressing so many buttons
great video dude. Nice to an older gamer like me doing videos! loving the game its great fun
Nice guide. I know from the intent alone that you're doing it to help the community thrive. You deserve a medal, mate!
Thanks man the game doesn't have tutorials like this
Hey I know it's been a while since these were uploaded but I just wanted to say thank you! I'm a newcomer to 3D fighters and your tutorials helped so much, thanks! ^-^
Thank you king jae. Now I can back dash, reverse throws and low parry or block low spams on reaction
holy shit, never felt better to subscribe to someone
Love your vids and Twitch man, greetings from Germany!
Nice Video, Jae. Hope you do another vid on how to Parry Punches 'n' Kicks. All Highs, Mids 'n' Lows
Just bought it on sale from the store, really excited to learn everything.
