Garth Thanks for the kind words. Seems like for every hour I work on the teardrop, it takes about 30 minutes to an hour of video editing! I enjoy it though.
Brian Bouman Thank you! It good to have you aboard. I’ve bought lots of stuff from eBay, Amazon, Lowe’s, and , Albany County Fasteners, and Vintage Technologies.
I am building doors too for a teerdrop and was wondering how much more am I supposed to cut the door opening for the door, I have the same t molding for door jamb
falcon7350 Oh yeah! I’ve been flying since June of 91’. So, pretty much the same time! I hope to have the teardrop ready for Joe Nall in a few weeks. You gonna be there?
Great build!! could you do a video detailing installing the bulb seal on the doors and rear hatch and maybe go into installing aluminum trim on rear hatch a little better ?
Ok. Thanks. I thought I had gone through all of the ones in the build. I shall keep looking. Great job on this. I'm trying to restore a 2014 teardrop I just purchased. Builder did not use a hurricane hinge. Water damage to the hatch and both side panels.
Thanks! I actually made these doors different than most other builders. Mine stick out from the walls, while most others are inset flush. I wanted the seal on the outside. The other piece of trim is L trim. Both can be found at Vintage Technologies. Disclaimer, I hope to have it on the road next week, so we’ll see how well the seal works. Fingers crossed!
Hi I really like the hinges you have, I can’t find those hear in australia could you please let me know where you got yours and if you have a link to a website I can get them from would be really helpful if you have one, thanks
I'm building doors to for a teerdrop too and I have three layers for the walls (1/2 inch plywood, 1/2 inch hard foam insulation, and 8 mm ply) do I need to make the door with the same layers?
That’s what I did, but after adding the rubber seals, my doors stick out from the camper walls the thickness of the seal. I could always change it, but don’t mind that they stick out. I ended up going with a rubber seal from Vintage Technologies that’s the shape of an arrow head. The tip of the arrow goes in my T molding in the door. When closed, the seal makes the door wider than the door opening, so the seal basically compressed against the outer wall of the camper. A bit non-traditional, but it works great for keeping the rain out. If you don’t want yours to stick out, you’ll either need to make the doors thinner than the walls to account for the added thickness of the seal, or make an inner door jam that is waterproof. Check out the website TNTTT. Lots of door ideas there.
DIY is no problem! You only build a camper one piece at a time. No need to worry about wiring when you’re working on doors. No need to worry about plumbing when you’re working on wiring. You got this!
I have a question. I noticed that most doors are 1-1/2" and I am doing my sides 3/4inch... how do you recommend I fill the gap? Can I cut the door frame? doesnt look like it. Thanks again.
Gotcha. You must be talking about pre-made doors. Jay Poore with the Facebook group “DIY Teardrop Campers Community” would be the guy to ask about that. My doors are homemade and the same thickness as the walls. All that being said, I’ll bet you could cut a 3/4” door frame spacer to fill the gap.
M Langford I just went to my purchases section of eBay, and that item in my list is grayed out. It won’t allow me to click or open it. So, I can’t see who the seller is. It could be that the seller is no longer an ebayer. However, if you’ll type “frameless rv window” in the eBay search box, you’ll have a bunch to choose from.
I really appreciate the time and energy you put into these videos. Great craftsmanship!

I like your airplane collection 😎
It’s more of a bad habit! Lol!
We are proud of your great work
Thank you!
@@CampandCamera If possible, I would know the measures of length, width, and height from inside and outside if possible
Happy new year as well. Thanks for video. Looking forward to one with the whole door highlights.

What an awesome job! Hopefully as I go back through all of your videos I can figure out where you got all of your materials. Thanks!

Happy New Year! Looks great. Love the frameless window.
RogMc Happy New Year! Yeah, I’m so tickled with how they turned out!!
Much appreciated all the effort you put into showing the door build in detail. Looking good!
You'll have to add a link to those windows. I need them 😉
SkyroofNova72 Thank you! I picked the windows up on eBay, but the brand is “Cleer Vision”. I’m really digging the frameless look.
Happy new year! Excellent work! Looking forward to the next one!
psykomsn Thank you! Happy New Year to you!
You should do an informational video to teach other UA-camrs how to do a how to do video. You’re awesome.
Gregorio J I really appreciate that! Words of encouragement keep me going.

M105a2 DIY Camper Thank you! I’m glad that one is over. One more to go!
Camp & Camera the second one should be A lot easier and I’m sure it will look as good as the first one.
Awesome series. I've been binge watching. Which episode covers the galley hatch hurricane hinge install?
One of the earlier video covers the hatch build.

Here’s a link to the hatch video. It doesn’t cover the hinge though.

What was the trim that you used for the door , I no one is called t trim but what was the other , cause it really makes a nice finish

Hey, thanks! Just search for chrome refrigerator hinges or heavy duty chrome trailer hinges in eBay.

Good night, could you tell me the material of the thin sheet that you glued to the wood?
It’s 0.040” pre-painted aluminum sheet. I ordered it from a local sign shop. The brand is Wrisco.
How are the hand made doors holding up after the years?
They’re doing great. So far, not one problem.
@@CampandCamera watching your videos have put me into less of a self doubting mind set. A great boost of confidence!

the size of the gap around the door?
sorry. I was referring to the thickness.

Where did you get that hinge
I picked the door hinges up on eBay. I searched “Chrome trailer hinges.” Some also call them refrigerator hinges.
Thanks
Just any refrigerator hinge or how much clearance, I have the t molding
