    I live on the outskirts of Ramallah. It was during operation cast lead my home was invaded by the Israeli Army , my daughter who was 16 at the time was babysitting her younger brothers and sisters and they heard loud banging on the door, they were already traumatized due to the extreme violence that was in the country at the time, so they naturally reacted by not wanting to open the door for reason that they were in fear for their lives. When they finally got them to open the door they seen my kids were very frightened. so they held them at gunpoint while some of them were dispersed into the house to search every room ransacking, and vandalizing and the soldiers that were with my children in the room kept asking them questions and some were very aggressive with the children, and some were just trying to calm them with questions like what school do you go to? and what soccer teams do you like and complimenting my youngest daughter who was 3 at the time
    to those who have shown my children kindness I am thankful .
    They remained in the house with them for four hours and when we came home my kids were cold, worn out and terrified beyond measure and til this day they remember what happened that night, there are so many stories I could tell you that have happened during my life here in the Occupied West Bank that's just one of them.

    GOD our Creator is just Testing us in this life to separate the Good from the Bad. There will be Eternal Paradise for the Good, and Eternal Hell for the Bad. Now you may think the Palestinians lost, but don't worry, it wont be long when we are all... all standing silent in front of our Creator and all our deeds will be presented, and on that day, there will be no excuses, no do overs, no second chances, the evil will be dragged into hell.

    This is quite brave and admirable and may be a sort of catharsis for the gentleman, but doesn't come close to describing the real misery of the Palestinians both under occupation and as refugees outside for decades and generations. The situation has only got much worse with time. There's no hope of any change from within. Yiztiak Rabin tried and paid for it with his life. Only sustained pressure from the outside will bring freedom for the Palestinians.

    I come from Christian background married to a Muslim may he rest in peace. My husband used to talk proudly about the Jews that lived in Casablanca in Morocco and i had mixed feelings towards jews because my heart has always supported Palestinians since i was a girl. When i saw an orthodox jew rabbi shaking hands with an Iranian leader and checking information I understood about that the opposition to the state of Israel has been there in the consciousness despite propaganda and brain washing. Zionism is humanity enemy. They manipulate us to hate and fight. I support Palestine and jews that want to built one single nation as it used to be for centuries.
    In November 2023, I agree that the future of Israel as a state is getting gloomy. No matter how much Zionist want to make themselves some prophesies come true by themselves. They just want war and bloodshed and the whole land for Zionist.

    Breaking The Silence is an important organisation within the discussion of the occupation. Another is Jewish Voice For Peace. There are others, like If Americans Knew, Jews For Justice For Palestnians and Not In My Name. There is also one about Zionism is Not Judaism or something like that. It should be better known how many decent Jewish people are ashamed and troubled by Israel's persecution of the Palestinians under military occupation and blockade. And this guy was a serving occupation soldier, so he knows at first hand what he was ordered to do against ordinary Palestinian civilians - women, children, sick and elderly. If you can't stand al the preliminaries, start @ 8 minutes. And then go for Miko Peled, also from this church in Seattle. These are first-hand accounts, in Peled''s case plus being the son of a famous Israeli general. These facts are carefully hidden by Israeli hasbara because using atrocities to enforce the stealing of land to drive out the indigenous people to make a home for a special breed, is too terrible to believe.

    Do you guys get this guy, he is american decent, his parents were born and raised in america. Yet he and his parents think they have more right to the land of Palestine than someone who has lived there for centuries. He is nuts. I got bored with this speech, it says nothing new and its really is about feeding guilt, without change. He is so careful not to blame Israel and does not give much detail.

    I am so sorry for this man's pain where he was forced and tricked to do things when he was so young. Bless him for letting people know what is going on. Jesus will forgive him for repenting and trying to make restitution. May he find peace in the Lord. Even so, come Lord Jesus and terminate the evil and diadem the right, oh Righteous Judge come in mercy and might soon. I pray that there be as little suffering as possible.

    if people want to speak about the U.N., and what they say, they have just said the Palestinians are justified and LEGAL for what they do because they are resisting occupation. It comes down to this- do I have the right to take your property? Do I have that right if someone else tells me I can take your property?

    It says something that the first question was "how many Palestinians, on average, does each soldier kill." That someone in the audience would have that view maybe indicates that the BtS rhetoric goes too (or perhaps just how far left and distorted audience members tend to be.) (But kudos to Shaul for unequivocally dismissing the idea.)

    Everything in this lecture is based on a 100 soldiers out of 100,000 each recruitment cycle. That's 0.1% of the soldiers you are listening to. What about 99.9% of the soldiers that think the opposite and you are choosing to ignore? Basing a whole theory and a lecture out of what a 100 soldiers out of 100,000 think is complete ignorance. Presenting the opinion of 0.1% as facts is an insult to your listeners.

    • @ToddBoyle
      @ToddBoyle  8 років тому +13

      +Michael Elboim Oh, you mean the people with no opinion? Anybody can step forward and indeed some of the soldiers in the book are pro-occupation. But the 99% with no opinion? That's highly correlated with having no moral compass, either.

    • @msElboim
      @msElboim 8 років тому +2

      +Todd Boyle If 0.1% join you in your cause, can you automatically say that the other 99.9% lack opinion? Is there no possibility that they might think the opposite - and that is the reason they did not join you?
      Currently, Breaking the Silence is called, even in the media, "the most hated organization by Israelis", and that's saying something. Unlike most countries, specifically in the USA and Europe, in Israel, almost every citizen was a soldier at one point.
      Saying that the citizens do not know what they are sending soldiers to do is illogical, since most citizens WERE those soldiers and did exactly the same. In Israel, the citizens know EXACTLY what soldiers do, where they go and how they treat their enemies, since they did it themselves. Since only 0.1% joined Breaking the Silence, that means that only few agree with their claims, while the majority of citizens and soldiers believe it is not true.
      Netanyahu is still elected by a majority of votes every time - and in a democracy, that means that the citizens support him. The Israeli citizens are not ignorant - they were in the IDF just like Mr. Shaul was, saw everything that he saw, but understood something else.

      @msElboim 8 років тому +2

      +Liza Tanzawa Unlike the WW2 period, I have the internet and I have been indoctrinated only by objective information which I've collected myself - from both sides. An absurd majority of soldiers claim Mr. Shaul is a liar. His whole unit wrote a letter saying he's a liar. His information is based on nothing, and you believe his absurd stories without wanting a single proof.

    • @msElboim
      @msElboim 8 років тому +1

      +James Fletcher If this is what you see when you look at Gaza, we clearly see the world differently, and nothing I say can change that. I will say what I see and hope that you can accept that we will probably never agree.
      I see a terrorist organization that hides weapons inside those homes, schools and hospitals, who wants to get as much money as it can from European countries and Human Rights groups, and will fire rockets from within ranks of his own children onto Israel, just to prepare a camera and publish fabricated reality that will wink at the hearts of people like you, who are blind and oblivious to facts.
      The truth is that Islam tries in many ways and forms to replace the western world, as it was created to replace Judaism and Christianity. Israel is a part of the western world, and so should be anyone who opposes groups such as ISIS. Would you be angry at France or USA if they killed children, destroyed homes, schools and hospitals and enforced many war crimes - onto ISIS? In Israel's eyes, this is exactly the same.
      Those "war crimes" are necessary to keep the civilized western world intact. According to my educational compass, calling the destruction of a hospital filled with weapons a war crime is a crime itself.

    Sorry we survived the pogroms, deportations, ghettos, extermination camps and the Holocaust.
    Sorry we were not destroyed. Although they tried. Many have tried. Really tried. Throughout history.
    Sorry we survived the horrors and persecutions.
    Sorry we returned to the land of our ancestors (following pogroms and persecution and then following the Holocaust) and settled in it, after we were deported and exiled and deported and exiled again.
    Sorry we returned to the land of our ancestors. Which is ours. And unlike a host of other peoples, we also have historical evidence and documentation of our right to live here.
    Sorry we got the partition plan in 1947, and agreed to establish a state within ridiculous borders.
    Sorry we were not destroyed in the War of Independence.
    Sorry we were not destroyed by the Palestinian Arabs in the kind of riots that have been perpetrated on us since the day we returned here, back in the 19th century. They have been killing us ever since. So really sorry.
    Sorry we built a strong army. To protect us. We even defined it as a defense army.
    Sorry we built ourselves in the Middle East. With ten fingers we built it, and during non-stop wars and incessant violence from all sides.
    Sorry we found solutions to all the military challenges our enemies posed to us.
    Sorry we won the wars. Sorry we were not destroyed. Sorry we were not thrown into the sea, or returned to Europe and the Arab countries, to live in ghettos.
    Sorry we developed Iron Dome.
    Sorry we found a technological solution to the tunnel problem, from which hundreds of terrorists were to emerge and entire communities of Jews were murdered. Just sorry about that.
    Sorry we offered the Palestinians a state three times, but we refused to include the entire territory of our state. Sorry we did not give up everything for them.
    Sorry we would rather win a war than be slaughtered in it and murdered and killed.
    Sorry we have imagination, resourcefulness and ingenuity.
    Sorry we insist on being strong in a reality where countries like Iran openly call for our destruction. And organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah say out loud that we have no right to live and exist.
    Sorry we insist on living and existing.
    Sorry we are stronger than Hamas. And Hezbollah. And Iran. And Syria. And Lebanon. And insist on maintaining our strength, for the simple reason that if we become weak, we simply will not exist. We'd be destroyed. Deported. Concentrated again in the camps.
    Sorry we are not symmetrical. Sorry we are investing billions in protection. Tens of billions, actually.
    Sorry we are investing billions in anti-missile weapons. Sorry we do not let 4000 missiles fired at us fall on Israel. In the name of symmetry.
    Sorry we insist on staying alive. It's not symmetrical, I know. But if symmetry means being like Hamas - both in terms of victims and in the folly of eliminating their people and their future - then we give up. Prefer the asymmetry. Because symmetry in the Middle East means destruction for the Jews.
    So sorry we are not symmetrical. Sorry we refuse to die, be destroyed or live in insane poverty because we have invested all our money in weapons. Look at us - we have also managed to invest billions in the IDF and in security and also to establish a prosperous state. Sorry we are not like Hamas - which is incapable. Sorry we are not like Arafat and Abu Mazen, who just do not want a state. Sorry we have progressed and we are looking forward to the future of our people.
    Sorry we are not symmetrical. And sorry for the following words too: But take your symmetry and shove it to a place where the sun don't shine.
    We will continue to be asymmetrical. Because our very existence depends on it. And we intend to continue to exist.
    Sorry we intend to continue to exist. At all costs. At almost any cost we will continue to exist. So sorry about that in advance. Right from the bottom of my heart. Sorry.

    I'm Israeli, I served 3 years, and I've got to say that I didn't know some of these things. It make no sense to me and it sounds really bad. I still think the IDF is the most humane army in the world. Far from being perfect, and some commanders can be very stupid and cruel, but the fact that people can speak against it like this guy in the video means everything. This is true democracy. Didn't like what you see? say it out loud. The scare tactic should be stopped, and the settlements should be ruined but for peace. True peace.

    In Gaza all Israelis were forced to move out of Gaza. Why in Judea and Sameria for the last 50 years, did the Palestinians not move out to Jordan or Gaza? In 1967 six day war Israel won Jerusalem and West Bank so why not do the same as Israel was required to do in Gaza? They have had 50 1/2 years to locate outside of the won territory of Israel. If the same thing that happened in Gaza with Israelis living there had happened in Judea and Sameria 50 years ago by forcing the won territory to have all Palestinians move out, wouldn't there be no need to have the IDF in the West Bank doing these things? This must stop but if it continues as it is how can peace be acquired?

    • @ToddBoyle
      @ToddBoyle  6 років тому +9

      Rebecca thank for your question "how can peace be acquired?" The answer is simple. Abolish the existing government of Israel-Palestine and all its walls and differetn statuses-- Establish a standard, generic democratic country, guaranteeing equal rights to all. Start a truth and reconciliation commission including RETURN of large fractions of stolen property to the rightful owners.

      @@ToddBoyle You said it Todd. But people like Ms Freeman are willfully blind... and I mean willfully. They know the truth, they know they forcefully stole the land from an indigenous set of people who were already there when the European Jews arrived in Palestine. So what to do... well create a new narrative... lie. aka. Hasbara... create realities on the ground even if you have to commit atrocities. They think all the justification about the land belonging to them because the GOD of the Bible told them so is sufficient for killing people so they can forced out of their homes will not do. The world knows it... and these 50 years are but a blink of time... it seems long but Israel will surely sow what it has reaped. Its the law of nature... one cannot live by the sword and not expect to die by it. Happened to every colonial enterprise... Romans, Chinese, Ottomans, Greek... the list goes on. This is no different.

    It's all fucked up. Isreal wants a homeland, Palestinians have resisted it all along, Israel is the strongest and on in goes. They both need to compromise, they all continue to live together or they will die together. They should create 2 States with Israel slighty smaller, so Palestinians won't feel threatened. After all , the lived there longer ,but at the same time, Jews want some help as they are homeless and they have been taken to holocaust.
