- Using whole genome sequence data to aid bacterial species identification and the Genome Comparator tool at PubMLST.
The Genome Comparator is used to compare whole genome data of isolates within the database using either the database defined loci or the coding sequences of an annotated genome as the comparator. The output is equivalent to a whole genome MLST profile, a distance matrix calculated based on allelic differences and a NeighborNet graph generated from this distance matrix.
The beginning of the video covers the PubMLST database and where to find isolate genome data, the secod half of the video covers the Genome comparator.
The Public databases for molecular typing and microbial genome diversity can be found at PubMLST at: pubmlst.org/.
