- So its another instalment of taking the Land Rover Discovery off roading, and this time we wanted to push the boat out.. LITERALLY. We decided to cross a river, yes cross a river in our land rovers, and it DID NOT go to plan!
We literally almost sank the Land Rover, and we would have done if it wasn't for Kieran and his winch.. safe to say, this was terrifying and it was almost the end of the Land Rover haha!

Before you buy a winch buy a transfer box with Centre Difflock. This with traction control and big tyres will get you most places. LR fitted CDLs and the operating lever to later models while early Disco 2’s had CDL but the levers were not fitted so you couldn’t lock it unless you crawled underneath.
Right now traction control is all you have and it isn’t enough.
Be alot better if he stayed in 2nd gear and wasn't trying to do everything fast

Install a bilge pump like on a boat maybe to at least keep water low inside the car? Moveable one so you can pump at lowest point?

Do it mate, I used to do it a few years ago. Mates had discos but I had a Daihatsu fourtrak.
Billet parts in Jap stuff never fails. My mates in discos were always fixing them 😂

Oh mate I feel your pain. I was once completely stuck on Salisbury Plain, with water pouring into my Defender 90. My friend tried to tow me out with his Series 3, but his clutch started to slip and every rope + chain we had snapped. It was honestly terrifying. Thankfully we managed to free my Landy after 4hours, I could have cried I was so happy. We've now nicknamed the puddle "puddle of doom". 0/10 do I recommend 😂

If your on coils rather than bags then I wouldn't worry about the BCM as its mainly for the air suspension. I've taken the BCM out and not had any dramas.

I would check the diff and transfer oils now water will of got in and mixed with the oil if u dont have extended breathers happened to mine and didnt do my transfer box any good 😂 gradually got louder and louder was like milk when drained it !!
