2 bucks for sauce is a bit raw. The most I have seen is 50 cents, which is already a lot. I do get why everybody charges for it, though. Back when the vendor put the sauce on it was free. Then the little packets were free, then the packets because those harder plastic packages. People started grabbing them by the handful to take home. They cost the vendor money and people were essentially stealing them like nobody's business, so vendors started charging.
