whats the running temp? i have the same block basically (1999 90hp) and it runs only 90 degrees at idle. the manual says exactly nothing about where to check the temp (usually at the top of the head but again nothing). i have tried 2 new OEM thermostats, a new spring and seal with new clip and they all run 89-96f at the top of the head. the t stat is supposed to open at 130f! i even relieved some pressure by removing the top brass plug and added an additional indicator hose, and that did exactly nothing. ill check my pump pressure at idle, but i put the exact same replacement water pump in. driving me nuts! or is the temp reading taken on the head faces? makes no sense . i even added washers on the spring in the housing , and put a notch in one of the t stats to try to relieve pressure. all did nothing!
Certainly not a bad idea to change, especially on a used motor. 👍👍
That was my friends thought, glad we were able to get it changed for him.
Perfect, I'm going to change mine as it overheats if your not on plain pushing a lot of water, it must be stuck half open.
All my gaakets were shot and thermostat never worked in mine got it all changed up
Outstanding!
Thank You!
Glad the video helped you out!
I took mine out and it had gravel in it!
