I too think you did a very good with the vid. 1 thing maybe I missed it but I don't recall you mentioning the color coded circles on the trees. One color meant you were heading AWAY from the park & the other color meant you were heading back TO the park. Good idea. I've been going there since early 70s, before so many wooden walks & decks. There used to be a tram (cable car) going from mainland to the island where they had a runway & plane rides. Campground was IN the park. You mentioned boatrides, they had those too. Went from the park to the bottom of the dam, you walk up the stairs to catch a second boat that went to a small barge with a tiny building on it. You could buy soft drinks, chips, etc. You'd walk off that right back to Horseshoe Canyon(old name) & waterfall. Great hike. Your mom might remember this. You mentioned birds chirping, I think that may have been Dan talking about me saying' cheap, cheap, cheap instead of chirp,chirp... Lol. I would still highly recommend this place to everybody & as I tell my friends " take only pictures, leave only footprints.' Thanks.🙏💓🇺🇸😊
TOP Destination? More like a hole in the wall! Garbage all over, graffiti all over everything, even on the canyon walls. Watch where you walk cause there is dog shit all over too! Want to get back to nature, go there and you can listen to loud music in the parking lot and on the trails, especially when camping, it's party city. There are no rangers or tree cops around so it's a free for all. The lookouts are all hidden with tree cover so you see almost nothing. I saw no less than 3 people relieving themselves on the trails, that was a real class act! I've been there twice, once on the weekend and it's packed, wall to wall idiots. The weekday wasn't too bad but the idiots don't seem to leave. Illinois is broke and it shows in this park! It's basically an overcrowded hole in the wall. Your better off watching some videos and saving yourself the hassle and aggravation and go some place nicer, which isn't hard to do!

It’s a nice place. It’s better to wake up early to avoid the crowds. Usually get there at 7am…
@@blackhawks1870 agree best to get there between 7am-8am Monday-Friday mornings. The park is very pretty alot of nature, and a ton of history
People have to piss ya jackass
