Yes, great discussion. Once I finally understood that there was significant literature on Pubmed clarifying that in a substantial percentage of people taking statins many developed increasing pain levels to the point of debilitating quality of life (for me, I nearly could not walk any longer, and needing ibuprofen constantly), I realized that reading the existing research was critical to forming a path forward, away from 90% of pain and mobility problems. There is a LOT of research lit that exists, to provide clues beyond any standard medical paradigm practices supported by 'profit taking' pressures. Thanks for being primary examples of a far better medical practice science -based approach to public health education. My wake up call about statins, sent me in the directions you are exploring, searching for a better medical paradigm for our grandkids and their children... who we borrow this world from.

    1. Exercise aerobic and strength training 3-5 days, 20-50mins each plus one weekly long run/ride 80mins.
    2. Cook your own food from mostly unprocessed ingredients...depending on your budget, dietary tribe try to avoid obvious unhealthy parts eg. added sugar, too much sodium, trans fat etc...
    3. Sleep uninterrupted, regular 7:30hr and up.
    4. Cold showers daily. Add on saunas or ice baths, maybe twice a month...perhaps after the weekly long ride/run.
    5. Fasting prolonged (water only) once a month *60hrs... Adjust how long, how many times per month you need/ are comfortable with. Once comfy, perhaps add tea, coffee etc...
Once, you got those down perhaps personalize them to your liking...perhaps pick an ok snack food/drink, have it once in a while. Personally, I like Zevia and Siete chips when watching a game/film, for instance.
And exercise shouldn't be rigid. Familiarize Met (metabolic equivalent task) hours and adjust them to your liking...personalize them eg. add in yard, garden works, yoga/breathing workout, house chores😉

Gosh I wish I could hear/understand more of what Dr Hyman says. He tends to swallow or skip over syllables, e.g., ‘sport longevity’ instead of ‘support longevity’. Some is understandable through context, but the scientific names of things are often simply garbled in the rush of words. Laughing while speaking interferes with enunciation as well, of course.

How do you know? I've known people that smoked and consumed alcohol all their life. And lived to be 75 and 80.

Love you both, but I have learned that Vegetables have inherent toxins in them as well as they are not “Bioavailable” for us.
    Thoughts?
I believe plants have inherent carcinogens in them. (Dr. Anthony Chaffee)
    Please advise…
