FRUCTOSE, Sucralose, ALLULOSE & Avoiding Insulin Resistance from Artificial & Low-Calorie Sweeteners

- Traditional soft drinks, juice boxes, and energy and sports drinks are loaded with high fructose corn syrup, an ingredient also found in many processed foods. The body processes fructose differently than other sugars, and fructose can lead to weight gain by encouraging the body to store energy. Dr. Richard Johnson and Dr. Dominic D’Agostino discuss the issues with fructose, sucralose (found in PRIME energy drinks), and other artificial sweeteners. They explore how fructose can drive food cravings and overeating, its potential role as an Alzheimer’s contributor, and the benefits of a different sugar, allulose, that might promote the release of GLP-1, the hormone that Ozempic and Wegovy help increase.

I thought the interview was well done. Good questions, straight to the point and you let Richard talk without interruption.😊
I started taking allulose a few weeks ago, right in the middle of intense distance running training to get back into race shape after a few years of low training. I'm 63, and was not losing weight, but was rapidly changing body composition - losing fat while (re)gaining muscle and strength. After starting allulose, the fat loss accelerated and the strength and muscle gains continued with no change. I actually started losing overall weight while continuing to gain strength. It must be the allulose occupying the GLUT5 receptor, which dramatically reduces fructose absorption while barely affecting glucose absorption for recovery right after a workout.
I agree, so does Dr Ben Bikman of BYU. We have been waiting for these studies.
How much do you take a day?
Great talk, thanks gents
Why is allulose banned in Europe and Canada.? They say it is possibly a carcinogen?
Allulose is just another commercial product. We don't need another sugar. We should eat for nutrition, not for pleasure.
woooo new camera for the DOM. much better
48:28 Blocking fructose could be a novel approach against cancer.
Beware of Allulose. It gives me diarrhea. I went on the carnivore diet to get rid of my 20+ year chronic diarrhea and it’s healed me so much. You add that stuff and I’m right back where I was. Also spices and too much fat give me chronic diarrhea. I do best on salt, beef, eggs, pork For a little dairy and no fruit or no vegetables and no fiber. It’s been almost 2 years now and I have never been better. Before I went carnivore I was keto and my joints hurt every single joint in my body hurts so bad. I don’t have that anymore Either. I think people need to eat what they can. Some people eat spices and it doesn’t bother them. Some people eat vegetables they don’t bother them. We are eating so many more unknown foods these days and it’s really upsetting the system and you need to figure out what that is.
My body doesn’t run on glucose my body runs on ketones
So what are we supposed to eat?
Meat.
Real food. No added sugar. Read the label, if it has one. Real food has no label.
doritos
kind of sales pitchy, oooh.. allulose good for development, oooh fruits have many healthy components to them LOL!,
but, with all these smart people, i would rather see discussions on why gip/glp are perturbed in carbocentric eating.
Spot on.
Can you eat excess fat on a low-carb diet? If so, where does the extra fat go?
It gets burned as insulin opens the fat cell for storage, with insulin low the body will burn that dietary fat
It can burn a lot slower then carbohydrates (esp. processed ones) they get stored easier. In a high insulin state fat gets stored from dietary carbs and fat. Type 1 diabetes sufferers have found this loop hole, if they don’t take insulin to cover their meal, they will not gain any weight since there isn’t any insulin to store the dietary substances, check it out.. it’s wild!
Keep insulin low and fat will melt off, i have melted almost 60 lbs of fat now off my body and it has been easy.
I keep my insulin low for other health reasons but the fat loss has been a surprising and amazing effect
But if you are eating too much fat, you won’t tap into your internal stores.
I recommend Prioritize protein (not easily stored as fat and amino acids are needed for so much more then building muscle) don’t fear healthy fat(that comes with the meat, go for fattier cuts, enjoy some butter, full fat yogurt, kefir, aged cheddar, sour cream) avoid seed oils when possible (google a chart) and be conscious of carbohydrates getting them from whole and unprocessed sources (no boxes and bags, less from foods with a barcode that’s been processed) enjoy lots of non starchy veggies and some lower sugar fruit
Fiber helps slow absorption (have fruit after dinner- If needed) chocolate sweetened with Stevia or monkfruit (lilys milk chocolate taste like recess, I like the dark too!)
Try to eat larger meals containing high amounts of protein and enough fat, less carbohydrates. And eat less often- big meals less often, less snacking - give your body time to digest and also you won’t be hungry after time. If you need a snack focus on a high protein snack (chunk of meat, egg, aged cheese with deli meat even ) something with a little fat and protein that is in whole form)
It goes to the fat cells. If it gets digested and absorbed, it will go to the fat cells if in excess. There are no free rides as some may preach. I think there are those that can add a lot of excess fat, not absorb it, and then think it vanishes magically. Truth is, came out the butt’
@@truthseeker8502 You would want that if you're on a carnivore diet, otherwise constipation is inevitable.
Allulose - desperate attempt to sell corn because high-fructose corn syrup, in many "food" products, is now well-known as bad for us? Got to keep the US corn industry going?
Many "advisors" to RX out there hawking allulose. Also Perlmutter, Bikman... 💵
You can use inulin as a sugar substitute.
Fructose is public enemy numero uno, whether it comes from fruits or any other source
Robert lustig says fruit is fine
That's not what Dr. Richard Johnson just said.
Fruit is fine. It's actually beneficial since it has many valuable antioxidants.
On the contrary, consuming refined fructose in the form of sugary drinks - is the enemy.
有钱才有購買力
It's sad that you talk only about keto. No world about plant based whole food diet :(
Nothing good to say about WFPB. Fructose, starches and oxalates. Basically the SAD, which hasn't served America well.
Carbs on low fat diet will not make you diabetic. Both are needed
No such thing as essential carb.
Carbs are not needed...body will produce what it needs.
Since you don't know what you're talking about, don't talk.
