    Agree on everything. I'm the slowest going up hill, even with light load. Keeping speed at 60mph, even speed limit 70. My ifta average never was less than 7.5mpg. 06 volvo, cummins 450hp, 10speed, 3.58 rears. My buddy drives same truck, but always speeding, he is averaging 6-6.5 mpg. Thats about $7000 per year wasted on fuel.

    I drive a 2014 Kenworth T680 Phx to Albq and back to Phx. Haul light mostly and deadhead back to Phx mostly or with very little weight. ISX 15 2013 485hp 13spd 3.36. Best ive done from Albq to Phx with couple thousand pounds in the trailer I did 10.3mpg. 10.3 because the rush hour killed it. On I40 I had it up at 11mpg until Flagstaff. Hauling Phx-Albq-Las Cruces-Phx with a 28' my round trip was 9.1. 1,039 mile run with 114 gallons burned on the whole trip. At 1,000 miles I used 110 gallons. At 100 gallons I was 889 miles into my trip. Ever since I bought the Bully Dog Watchdog Ive seen better driving habits and I learn what the engine likes for efficiency. Like you said, keeping boost low, lower temps help a lot. I set boost limits. I run down hills fast if safe to use the gravity for the next hill climb. Phx to Albq I was 8.4mpg and used right at 50 gallons. Ive done the run for 6 years and drove it every way possible. Set land speed records when I was rushed. Now im the only driver and sometimes overwhelmed and hate that rush because it beats my truck up. I love the speed thrill but been having more fun trying to beat records for best mpg. Be safe no load is worth your life or others.

    Hey man, I am wondering how is that possible that you have 600 hp 2050 torque on engine that's been designed for 400 horse 1650 torque. I might be wrong but I believe for that amount of power you have to have a different CPL designed for the engine (injectors, turbo, you might blow off your Piston valves even your engine head, etc. etc.). But anyways I'm really impressed of MPG you are showing.

    • @CatchMeOffroad
      @CatchMeOffroad 8 років тому

      There are 2 versions of the isx. The lower rating version goes up to 450hp but the higher rating version goes up to 600/2050. It is indeed a different CPL so different turbo, compression ratio, etc.

    Loves sells that bio-blend fuel that absolutely hurts MPG sometimes as much as 5-10% compared to straight “B0” ULSD. Also you’ll notice MPG goes to shit any time you fuel in states like OR or MN where they require by law that B5-B20 blends are sold, depending on what time of year it is. You’ll read a bunch of horseshit propaganda about how biodiesel blends only lower MPG by 1 or 2% but in real world experience I can tell you it is way worse than that.

    Loves gives you less gallons for the the money. I fueled 198 gallons on my 200 gallon capacity tanks and I had fuel in my tanks. Explain that

    I'm 100% agree with the driving style, some guys treat their trucks as racing cars...why??? I use to drive pretty much same way than you and the truck it's not even mine so.. Why some O/O do that crap to themselves??

    The isx is a high torque low rpm engine. Pregressive shifting works especially well with modern high torque engines but if your routes do not require many shifts like if you are traveling the mid-atlantic then you would not notice the effect of progressive shufting. Doing 1500 rpm shifts with 20 to 30 complete stops in 10 miles thru the Bronxs is fuel foolish.

    the spped is about company drivers don't care about the longevity of the truck, why should they? so they push it to the limit.

    I have volvo day cab 2007 isx 450 1800t 3:73 and 10speed tr. bad on fuel 5.5mpg so far. Im going broke. I need help where should i start?

    • @manuelluhanga
      @manuelluhanga 8 років тому

      3.73 gears 10speed running 65mph means higher rpms. anything over 1500rpms, is bad for mpg. keep it 1300-1500. considering your egr is well maintained.

  • @CatchMeOffroad

    You do realize that the X3 version of the isx you are running is much worse on fuel economy than the X1 version right? Yours is designed for performance and response while the X1 is a fuel economy engine with lower ratings.

    • @fxmdbosko
      @fxmdbosko  8 років тому

      you are 100% wrong buddy , I tune, repair and build ISX series engines on daily basis . CM570 is dinosaur compare to cm871 and cm871 is one of the best and toughest ISX engines made so far . I can name few reasons , 3400 more adjustable parameters, higher compression, stronger 1 piece forged piston, stronger rods , liners are made out of tougher material , block has much better quality of cast steel. That's only few reasons why newer style of ISX series is much more tougher and fuel efficient engine.

    • @CatchMeOffroad
      @CatchMeOffroad 8 років тому

      +fxmdbosko I think you misunderstood what I said. I am not comparing different generations of isx engines...I am talking about the different CPLs from the same year. For example, the in 2010 and 2013 when the new engines were released, they always released 2 different CPLs (X1 and X3) which have different hardware and ratings. The turbo, compression ratio, cam profile, and tuning are completely different between the two. X1 is fuel economy, X3 performance.

    • @fxmdbosko
      @fxmdbosko  8 років тому

      +bkhaja89 actually there is no difference, I cross match every single part # and they all match no matter that cpl it is . Only difference is tune that's in the ECM that's it. I made over 800hp and 2300lbtq on engine that was 400hp factory and it's still running at 650whp map .

    • @CatchMeOffroad
      @CatchMeOffroad 8 років тому

      Once again, I am referring to the CM2350 engines and newer. Clearly you don't know the Cummins products like you say you do. Try looking up the part numbers for VGTs and pistons. Heck the X1 and X3 engines don't even have the same compression ratio. But what do I know...I only work there.

    • @fxmdbosko
      @fxmdbosko  8 років тому

      +bkhaja89 cm2350 is made from late 2013 to early 2015 , difference you are talking about is in the fuel pump , and injectors . they updated parts because they were known to fail . For your info no manufacturer in history made different ratio pistons and cams for mass production engine of same series. Looking from business point of view that would be most insane move ever , at the end of the day what you talking about are updated parts with new cpl's , only major difference is turbo size , some had bigger turbos for engines that produced 525hp and more .

    Must not be pulling very heavy loads shifting at 10psi of boost . If I shifted at 10psi if have to drop back down a gear . And I'm running a isx cummins 550

    drive looking at those gauges.. keep down shifting. cause an accident , slow down a traffic cause extra frustration for people behind you to change Lane. who are not as interested as you just to save some money on fuel. I tried all this saved me eighty dollars from PA to ca round trip and drove extra eight hours. don't believe me try it yourself. And you took all these tips from rawze's videos. bro safety is more important than money.
