Hi Edwin, what was the symptoms of the head gasket and the oil cooler ? I have high pressure on my reservoir and it overflows i change the air compressor and it still doing it
@@fernandocontreras4784 i think symtptoms of a fail head gasket is coolant in the oil, possible overheat, and usuallly when oil cooler goes bad it starts to leak oil in the coolant system, you will notice oil in the coolant reservoir.
@@brkbrk5205 Always thot a failed head gasket 'chirps' or shows leakage on the block. If coolant is in the oil that possibly the liners 'O' rings. High pressure in your coolant reservoir can be head gasket failing due to liner dropping.
Also found that EGR plugging causes a lot of the grief, up to, and most especially, engine failure. Evidently annual cleaning of the system prevents most of it. What they sort of gloss over, if they tell you at all. This is for more than Cummins, a friend is going through this with 2 Mack engines right now. Cheers
How to fix a Cummins ISX15 CM2250: Basically convert it to a CM2350. How? Replace all pistons an liners with the APR pistons and liners to eliminate the horribly honed Chinese liners and carbon scraping issues. Install the steel plunger upgrade into the fuel pump, it's very easy, get rid of the ceramic plungers. Have the head resurfaced and all valves re-sealed with updated seals. Replace the oil pump. Replace the oil filter bypass valve with the updated valve which is less prone to sticking open. Replace the oil cooler. Always pressure test the EGR cooler before assembly. Now you've fixed the most problematic issues in that engine. These problems are more specific to the CM2250. The next best fix is to get a Detroit. The EGR is the primary killer to the ISX engine, it is what creates the carbon issues. Also liners in the CM2250 were cast in China then sent to two locations in the US for honing. One of those locations used three stone hones and caused oblong surfaces, these liners will cause piston/ring failure. It''s a 50/50 chance cm2250 liners went though this honing process.
If you could do a more in depth video on the symptoms of these problems that would help me. I did know about the EGR cooler failure and heard it was an 80% failure rate within 280k miles but some of these other problems like the fuel pump, I would not know how to diagnose. Appreciate the video

300k the engine breaks? 50k miles???? 25k-30k engine oil replacement? Take this from an expert in oils..no matter what oil you use after 10-12k miles it will loose all its properties. All oil manufacturers tell u stories but won the you All Of Them are using same base oil. 80% of oil composition is the same between all brands, the rest 20 % are patent formulas that make their oil different than others .Advice to all owners :No matter what oil u use dont run over 12k miles no matter what oil. Dont be cheap in saving money on oil...thats the life of the engine...how many oil changes do you need to skip to save 20k dollars on an overhaul? Be cheap on different parts but not on oil 12k miles top...no matter what oil u use
LMAO you can use rotella T6 well past 12k miles. Changing you oil filter is more key than the oil @ 12k or so. You can send samples of your oil to a lab and you can tell when you should change your oil, along with many other things the sample will tell you. Our 2013 isx 15 has been nothing but problems. Engine failure at 500k. Our new updated 600hp isx has been very good so far but only ~175k miles on it so we'll see. These new emissions engines are just plain junk.

If you do not maintain it, yes, they will fail. They are easy to care for, if you take the time to learn. But, they are not an old school Cat or Detroit, those days are long gone. Welcome to EPA trucking.
I have a freightliner cascadia 2012 with ISX15, I'm currently having problems with the regeneration, specifically the code 2754, A month a ago the DPF was serviced and all the sensor were replaced and during the regeneration the RPM doesn't remain constant and there are variations, The sound of the turbo doesn't constant, What would be your advice or if you can give me the address of your workshop to take it.
Remove and clean venturi tube (dirty air mixer tube, the one with the two small tubes going to differential pressure tube) Also clean those small tubes. They could be clogged with soot. You may have to remove and clean egr valve. Check out Rawze on UA-cam. He shows how to service egr system.
Only problem with Detroits is the dealerships can't figure out how to fix them. If you want to keep returning to the shop over and over for months just to fix a stupid code that keeps coming back, then yeah, Detroits are for you.
my 2015 cummins isx15 engine through a rod at 283k miles with no alerts on the dash at all and oil pressure read normal until i suddenly lost power on the highway...anyway now cummins is asking me why i ran the motor at 2750 rpm's for 30 seconds according to ecm ....of course my response was...i didnt the gauge only goes to 2500 rpm's and also the motor has a rev limiter...my question is....is it possible to run that motor at those rpm's?
Many people are having #6 cylinder, valve problems in a Cummin's ISX engine. Have you seen that problem? can you explain it? Like you said, most problems in ISX15 engines are found in engines from 2007 to 2015, like the #6 valve malfunction. thank you.

Maintenance intervals are listed in owners manual follow them
Yeah it’s only 2010 to 2015... it’s that emission shit my 2007 t6 has almost 1.2 mil and hasn’t been touched internally! Have had sensors and egr and cooler replacement but still runs pretty good still
Saludos! I keep getting a low coolant code and an ambient air temperature code... any tips?
Oj M hey try replacing low coolant sensor first that’s cheapest thing to do...sorry can’t help ya with the air temp thing!
Hey thank you so much brother. I really appreciate your videos. Now, do you have any video where you can explain, overall, which engine is better on a 2013 to 2015 year truck, Freightliner or Kenworth or Volvo. Those are my options. What do you think ? I'm trying to buy a truck
I would assume ISX would be first choice theres nothing else out there that i can think of.
Kenworth inmo
I have just replaced a head top, and since then the oil pressure is low. I have replaced the oil pump and oil sensor but the problem is still there, how can you help me?
Francisco if you can help me giving me some advice. I am getting ready to buy my first truck and I am still not sure which engines are better a Cummins or a Detroit . Let me know please
I'm working on 2014 isb code 132 no throttle pedal I replaced pedal but nothing changed after I warm truck up to 110 or so degrees everthing works great no engine protect light and pedal works fine also I noticed a skip or shall I say a misfire when cold I could feel it brake up ....any ideas ?
Thank you Francisco for the information
Our 2013 isx 15 has been nothing but problems. Engine failure at 500k. Our new updated 600hp isx has been very good so far but only ~175k miles on it so we'll see. These new emissions engines are just plain junk.
Allen Seferagic You In California ? I’m planning on buying my first truck a 2015 T680 @ 500,xxx miles .. or I’m trying to figure out how I could buy a new truck
@@jessehussle4883 I'm not in Cali and very glad I'm not. Our truck is now fully deleted and runs so much better. I could not recommend any dpf equipped truck to anyone its a horrible financial decision. If you're looking into a new truck look into Glider kits.
Allen Seferagic I’m in California brotha, that’s the thing.. gotta follow the rules
@@jessehussle4883 I'd say your best bet is to lease a new truck. Trucks don't last choked out and running costs are too high. Being an owner-operator can be tough especially if you have a truck payment on top of it.
Allen Seferagic thanks for advice Allen I’m going to look into it later today at my local dealer
I do my oil change every 10k &
Replace oil and fuel filters.
Air filter every 30k
Crankcase every year
750k miles later not a single problem on my Cummins isx 450
So basically oil change every month? Lmao wow
Cummins recommends 15,000 mile oil change for severe duty on my ISX15. So I start off doing mine at 12,000 miles for the first year then quickly switch to every 8000 miles after learning about how quickly the oil gets contaminated with carbon and soot. Oil changes are cheap maintenance when you do them yourself. I’m at 240,000 miles so far with no problems but I still have low expectations with these new motors
@@jbaby215 hey Jerry 2 buckets at home depot for 11 dollars and a torque wrench and you can change your oil yourself for free at no cost.... Save yourself 40,000 dollars on a brand new zero mileage engine
Hey good info, I got the high oil pressure issue with my 1mil 2012 kw with 2010 isx15 it don't burn any oil I do change oil once a month
So on Cummins isx label should say way make in 2016 ?
Do you have any video how to replace the fuel pump on isx cummins engine for 2012?
that is a mechanic job trust me, the pump weights 70-80 pounds itself lol
I’m gonna be buying my first truck hauling construction side dump locally, what truck and engine would you recommend? Found a paccar kenworth with 485k miles, would you recommend jt or wait for Cummins?
No atay away from paccar
LOL funny ,,, Very strong engine,,, very good engine , but fails around 300k he said :)
If you do not maintain it, yes, they will fail. They are easy to care for, if you take the time to learn. But, they are not an old school Cat or Detroit, those days are long gone. Welcome to EPA trucking.
Bad noise, worse engine in industry
So do you recommend an international prostar with cummins engine? Or does it have many problems compared to the maxxforce 13
Yes, I will prefer a international PROSTAR with Cummins ISX
Thank you so much!
Francisco Amaya are they reliable for consutruction work? Thinking of getting an international with Cummins
Cause all 2016 trucks I check engine say made in 2015
It means I need buy 2017 truck to get 2016 Engeine right.?
igor gusev yeah man, it is that way, if you buying a truck or REEFER trailer engine will be a year older. If 2018 then engine will be 2017.
my 2015 cummins isx15 engine through a rod at 283k miles with no alerts on the dash at all and oil pressure read normal until i suddenly lost power on the highway...anyway now cummins is asking me why i ran the motor at 2750 rpm's for 30 seconds according to ecm ....of course my response was...i didnt the gauge only goes to 2500 rpm's and also the motor has a rev limiter...my question is....is it possible to run that motor at those rpm's?
2014 electrical problem windows and volts gauge will stop and if u unhook battery it will start back
Thank you
Always disliked Cummins, grew up around Cat and Detroit with my dads trucks. So I just stick to what I’m familiar with
Many people are having #6 cylinder, valve problems in a Cummin's ISX engine. Have you seen that problem? can you explain it? Like you said, most problems in ISX15 engines are found in engines from 2007 to 2015, like the #6 valve malfunction. thank you.
Francisco
Should I sell my 2015 freightliner with cummins isx 15 engine and buy a newer one? So far I do not have any issues with it. But after watching this video I worry.
Great video Francisco and tnx,i got some questions for you, have kenworth 2013 cummings isx and problem is my oil temp unusual high 230 on flat goes to 250 f up hill, btw weather temp is 180,do you have any ides?tnx
Replace the oil thermostat.
It goes in the oil cooler, the front area. You have to remove the AC and alternator bracket to get access to it.
Hi Francisco its me again,i did replaced oil cooler, termostat, oil cooler sensor and radiator, so i got some good things better,so right now my oil temp dont go over 230,its constantly 225 and temperature is still 180,so im srill concern about to hihg oil temp, any idea what else i should replace?? Im thinking about wather pump sensor and wather pump?? Tnx a lot
Hello Fransisco , i had the main ,rods and bearings. The mechanic said that one of the liner has a tiny leak , what can I add to help slow down the leàk to be able to save for repairs
Great video brother im ready to buy a Volvo with the isx
Hi Mr. Anaya, just an question, do you have any idea about, what is valve adjustament lash , and timing gear gap for this Cummins isx after 2012 single cam?. Thank you .Anticipated
It should have that info in the valve cover of the engine?
Does it still have it?
My recommendation... buy pre emision engines. All engines after 2003 are junks
Or gliders
Cual es la presión del motor, mi aguja me muestra 223 a 225 corriendo y parado 200 mi motor es un dd15 Detroit, te agradezco su ayuda tengo la amber light on, saludos Francisco.
Good advice thanks
Great video man your knowledge is welcome.material
Thanks man keep it up!
I have problem with my Volvo Cummins isx shuts off when running any ideas ..
I have a ISX 15 Cummins peterbilt 2015 burning oil after 8,000 miles , what do I need to do ??
At 12:10 you say you prefer an engine over the ISX engine but I can't understand what you said. What engine do you prefer over this ISX?
He said he prefers DD15 engine
