Seeing the 3 cases after the braces were removed called for a tear I’ve been trying the last 3 years getting different opinions, getting wisdom teeth out, also a root canal just to get prepared. It’s not even severe and there isn’t crowding more like slight spacing I’ve had some decent dental insurance companies through employers and of course ortho is usually only good for dependents and I’m 26 ready to give up on getting the smile I want at one point a dentist told me those are not corrected or basically a rarity and the cases are considered compromised cases sorry for the rant

I have talked to a couple of orthodontists and they all say that surgery is needed in most of the open bite cases and that the relapse rate is alot bigger without surgery :)

I have a severe open bite, was supposed to have jaw surgery to fix it but now the dentist has done a u-turn and said that it can be fixed with braces alone (with the screws). Hi there, are the mini screws an alternative to jaw surgery? I’ve been told I have to get braces and corrective jaw surgery. I’m an adult and I really don’t know if I want my jaw broken :/. Please help.
It depends on the severity of the bite correction needed. For someone with a severe overbite that wants to avoid surgery we will sometimes attempt correction with mini screws knowing that we may not be able to get 100% correction (but it should still improve) Ask your doctor and they will be able to advise you on your specific case. Good luck 👍

I've had two rounds of braces AND a jaw reconstruction in my teens to fix my open bite..and guess what? I'm 42 and my open bite has returned even worse than before! Orthodontists and surgeons need to monitor and warn people about possible tongue thrust post surgery as this is what happened to me. Looking now at getting it fixed again but I'm not hopeful..I've seen 3 specialists and they've all said they can't help me
Getting a few teeth extracted while in braces isn't too big of deal. When you have brackets and wires the its not real noticeable that there were extractions done
I had to extract 4 teeth (my first premolars) before getting braces and I actually liked it. The extra space is just so fun to play with! Like how i could slide straws through them and do cool tricks lol

My dentist just gave me the same elastics alignment as the one shown in the video for mild open bite and told me that it will help on pushing my teeth backwards. Does anyone have the same case with me? And how is it going? Did it really push your teeth backwards?

Hlo doctor i have a open bite which is for my front 4 teeth upper 4 teeth dont meet to tha lower part can you tell how much time it take to cure? And can this be cure only by reatainers
Most of the time it will take 18-24 months for orthodontic treatment with bite correction. Open bite correction will usually require braces or Invisalign.
have an open bite and it causes me to have speech problems 😢 sometimes the s sound and ch sound are hard and embarrassing to make. with the ch sound my whole jaw moves weirdly in order to make the sound. sucks a lot. i even stopped talking at school because of it. i’ve been using braces and rubber bands and my gab has gotten significantly smaller, but idk if my speech problems have gotten worse or better since i have no prior videos of myself before braces. also dunno if my jawline has gotten worse or better either
For open bite correction it can work at any age. If cases of severe open bites surgery is sometimes the best option. This is true for kids, teens, or adults. Your doctor will be able to advise you on the best treatment for your individual situation.

It sounds like your gums are inflamed and you may need to work on your brushing and flossing. Bleeding gums are most likely not related to the rubber bands, but a sign that there is inflammation in your gums that needs to be taken care of. Check out our videos on how to properly brush and floss with braces. Also, it may be a good idea to see your dentist for a dental cleaning to get your hygiene back on track.

Correcting your bite will look better but it will also help you chew. Additionally having an open bite tends to put extra wear and tear on your back molars since they have to do all of the chewing. Getting the bite corrected will help spread the biting forces out onto all your teeth. It's a big decision, but you have to live a long time with your teeth - we think it's worth it to invest the time to get them corrected so you can enjoy your smile and bite for life. Good luck with everything!

So if they only move the lower set backwards, my face will even look flatter or worse give a moon-shape..... Is there really no way to move the upper set forward?
.hope someone can answer🙏
I would recommend getting a second opinion from an orthodontist. 👍
I've been in braces for open bite for 7 months now and my teeth are pretty much straight but my ortho hasn't used any elastics yet even though it's part of the plan treatment. Anyone could potentially know why? Thank you so much!
Have you asked him or her why ?
Does your wisdom tooth /teeth have to be pulled out prior to getting braces for an open bite ?
I have a very mild open bite I have started rubber bands for almost a month how long will it take to fix it???
It will usually take several months to get full correction. The more you wear the rubber bands the faster you'll see results
Do open bites need surgery? Mine is small teeth straight but oral surgeon says it will never be fixed with braces in general.
Hi there, are the mini screws an alternative to jaw surgery? I’ve been told I have to get braces and corrective jaw surgery. I’m an adult and I really don’t know if I want my jaw broken :/. Please help.
It depends on the severity of the bite correction needed. For someone with a severe overbite that wants to avoid surgery we will sometimes attempt correction with mini screws knowing that we may not be able to get 100% correction (but it should still improve)
Ask your doctor and they will be able to advise you on your specific case. Good luck 👍
I’m 17 and have an open bite which seems to be worse than these but my orthodontist just added something called kobi’s ?? I wear my bands in a square now but can you tell me more about this?
Hey i am also 17 nd i also have open bite just got my OPG(X Ray) today I hope my dentist will fix it without surgery i am embrassed to smile nd talk 😭
How long was the second case in regards to treatment ?
Where is the best to do that in Europe, if you can recommend me someone in Germany/Austria
Only for Opet bit
Is it Sato Metode best for Open Bot,any other way?
I have an overbite really bad but i see the orthodontist Wednesday Jan 5th 2021 :)
is it normal to see black triangles/holes now that i have braces? i didn't see this many before braces and my teeth were pretty straight to begin with.. only got them because of my open bite
I’ve had one round of braces already that fixed my teeth but not my bite completely, two years later just got braces put back on as the open bite was causing too much pain in my jaw, hoping this round of braces and elastics fixes my jaw issues- has anyone else ever had to have two rounds of braces before?
I've had two rounds of braces AND a jaw reconstruction in my teens to fix my open bite..and guess what? I'm 42 and my open bite has returned even worse than before! Orthodontists and surgeons need to monitor and warn people about possible tongue thrust post surgery as this is what happened to me. Looking now at getting it fixed again but I'm not hopeful..I've seen 3 specialists and they've all said they can't help me
I cannot bite in front tooth does braces can help for that?
Yes they do!
Patient 2 really had to walk around with 2 missing teeth 😫 brave mamas! I know she feels so happy with her new smile though
So I don't know what open bite I have because mine is not bad as the 3 patience I only have a open bite to the bottom front 5 teeth and the top front 4 teeth so I don't think it's that bad. But also how long will have to use them if I'm mild
Great question! Since everyone has a different bite and smile, our best advice would be to check with your local orthodontist for more info! :)
@@PremierOrthodontics thank you I got back to them in like 5 months
Im.46.
I hv open bite from sucking thumb 😢😢😢. Is it possible to get it fixed 😢
How long does it take to close open bites?
It usually will take about 2 year for braces with bite correction.
I don't think I have an open bite, I've got a forward teeth though but not that much, can this be considered an open bite? My dentist just gave me the same elastics alignment as the one shown in the video for mild open bite and told me that it will help on pushing my teeth backwards. Does anyone have the same case with me? And how is it going? Did it really push your teeth backwards?
I have a mild open bite and they had 4 of my teeth extracted. I’m scared for the end results. I feel like my face will change. Can I put teeth implants were my teeth were extracted?
How is it going? Do you see some result?
Hlo doctor i have a open bite which is for my front 4 teeth upper 4 teeth dont meet to tha lower part can you tell how much time it take to cure? And can this be cure only by reatainers
Most of the time it will take 18-24 months for orthodontic treatment with bite correction. Open bite correction will usually require braces or Invisalign.
I’m getting an expander +braces
I’m so mad my orthodontist said I needed surgery. I knew I just needed braces and rubber bands
Dr. I have both open and over bite is it can be solved or not ?
Thanks for the animations. Very informative!
Glad that you enjoyed the video!
I wanted to get braces for this but they said they would have to reconstruct my jaw :/ so I’m not doing it
have an open bite and it causes me to have speech problems 😢 sometimes the s sound and ch sound are hard and embarrassing to make. with the ch sound my whole jaw moves weirdly in order to make the sound. sucks a lot. i even stopped talking at school because of it.
i’ve been using braces and rubber bands and my gab has gotten significantly smaller, but idk if my speech problems have gotten worse or better since i have no prior videos of myself before braces.
also dunno if my jawline has gotten worse or better either
Is it obliged to do extractions to fix Openbite when it's not moderate ?
How old was the eldest patient in this..? Just so I know whether or not ill be able to get mine done without surgery ?
For open bite correction it can work at any age. If cases of severe open bites surgery is sometimes the best option. This is true for kids, teens, or adults. Your doctor will be able to advise you on the best treatment for your individual situation.
@@PremierOrthodontics ok thank you very much for replying. My last question : Mine isn't very severe as it only small. However my orhtodontist said he would be able to close it , but not fully.
Does this mean I should seek out for another opinion from another orthodontist? I don't see why it cant be closed fully as its not severe. Also, its not down to a skeletal issue as it was caused by thumb sucking / tongue thrusting ..?
Hello doctor , I'm 15 year old and I have not been able to close my mouth properly and have a good smile....I have an overbite.....I got my braces one month back......I have a small upper lip and philtrum .....will I be able to close my lips after the end of my braces treatment ? Cuz I don't want to undergo any lip surgery ... Or should I do something lip exercise?
Without seeing your teeth personally its hard to give you an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan. If you are in braces currently it would be best to ask your doctor these questions and see what they recommend. Good luck!
I had my four teeths extracted even though my teeth isn't crowded, I have a moderate open bite situation. Now I'm anxious whether it would be pull correctly right now since my lower front teeth are small and some have spaces between another. I'm thinking if my dentist did a right analyzation on my teeth 😭
They did the same for me. Trust the process!
@@kariahgreen2546 I will, thanks!!! 🥺🤍
Extractions may be needed for bite correction, not just for crowding. I'm sure your doctor will make sure its all perfect by the time you're finished!
Nice
How can I be able to access all your tutorials
What should I do if the rubber bands are touching my two fronts teeth and my gums are bleeding , is that dangerous?
It sounds like your gums are inflamed and you may need to work on your brushing and flossing. Bleeding gums are most likely not related to the rubber bands, but a sign that there is inflammation in your gums that needs to be taken care of.
Check out our videos on how to properly brush and floss with braces.
Also, it may be a good idea to see your dentist for a dental cleaning to get your hygiene back on track.
Hello Doctor how Can i do to correct mine
I got a severe open bite, they recommended jaw surgery 😭
Me too 😭😭 They said that my palate is narrow which could be what’s contributing to my open bite, so plan on trying the expander…
but I’m dangerously close to the age limit for those things so will probably have to resort to surgery if it fails
@@lettucesalad716 I need a palate expander too but surgery for me as I'm 34.
my dentist only put braces on the top teeth and Not the bottom teeth...is this OK.??
I have a severe open bite but I live in NYC. Do you know of any surgeons I can go to up here? I would really appreciate you help!!!
We are based in Arizona, but there should be many great orthodontists in your area. Good luck!
is there an example of mild open bite with no extractions?
Apart from braces do you guys also do veneers?
i have an open bite. im so insecure with my smile. people always laugh at it makes my confident low. i have my braces on now. i cant wait for the result...
Best of luck!
@@PremierOrthodontics Thank you sir!
Awww I’m so happy for them!!
Sir.. I have mild open bite. .... Can it get rectified with braces in 30-35 days.. I have to qualify a medical exam which is after 35 days.?
Most orthodontic treatments will take about 18 months so you likely will not be able to be treated in just 30 days
Can you fix my open bite pro bono? Please let me know. It's caused me so much depression. I was jumped in 2013 and my jaw was broken in two areas. I no longer smile due to this.

oh my god! watching this as an 18 year old with an open bite in Arizona i gasped when he said at the end that their office is in arizona!! theres hope for me when i thought there wassnt😭!! now i just gotta make the money to fix it..
What is the time duration for braces of open bite??
I have an open bite, i could be wrong. But I see every orthodontist has a different approach, i have a class three malloclusion. I was suggested maxillofacial surgery, and probably tooth extractions(with the open bite) i currently have
i want to know what are the side effects of open bite | Doctor suggested me open bite surgery & said its an 3 yr procedure but me & my family are very tense about this can you suggested what to do ??
Correcting your bite will look better but it will also help you chew. Additionally having an open bite tends to put extra wear and tear on your back molars since they have to do all of the chewing. Getting the bite corrected will help spread the biting forces out onto all your teeth.
It's a big decision, but you have to live a long time with your teeth - we think it's worth it to invest the time to get them corrected so you can enjoy your smile and bite for life. Good luck with everything!
Sir in my case my upper and lower teeth are mild outward and they is no symmetry in the mid line the lower midlibe is shifted 1inch rightward ,my dentist said you have to remove teeth but then he said your toungue is long so it won't work , what should I do plz help me , no even my dintist figure it out ,how to fix my teeth , for now he just put braces on my upper teeth only , plz help me sir plz plz plz help me
We may not be able to give you very good advise without seeing your teeth. If you have concerns about your treatment you can get a second opinion from an orthodontist that is located in your area.

I’m really scared about the mini screws
Don’t stress too much. They’re pretty easy.
Once you get numb you won’t feel anything and it’s over in just a few seconds. 👍
