  • HORRIFYING aerial footage showed a stranded motorist being rescued in a flooded area in Los Angeles, California, as the United States is hit by 'apocalyptic weather'.
    More than 350,000 homes and businesses were without electricity in California on Monday after a storm pounded the state with heavy rainfall and hurricane-force winds, initially knocking out power to more than one million customers, according to electric utilities and PowerOutage.us.
    The storm is the second so-called Pineapple Express weather system, or atmospheric river, to hit the most populous U.S. state in the past week.

    It happened in Nor Cal in '86. I know because I was there, it was Valenntines day and my wife went into labor at 10 at night, the hospital was in Petaluma and I had to drive on Hwy 101,but the water was a couple feet deep on the hay, I needed a CHP to guide us, we made it and my son will be 38 next week😊

Great years! also, yeah I was there in Saucelito 86 on the bay view hillside, (IKR?) when the floodpath same range of hillside opposite the city where the GG Bridge connects, there was a home over there, we heard a huge roar, the hillside took down the house and neighbor. If there was a sinkhole he would see the water running into it. Or maybe he wouldn't see anything because he was too busy with his phone. Wasted fire crews time.

  • @kuro_b5978
    @kuro_b5978 7 місяців тому +50

    This is slightly misleading. This video actually shows the flood containment system working. The flooded areas shown are in flood basins and river beds. Because California does not usually get enough rain to fill the basins or keep the river beds from being dry, homeless people camp in them. Unfortunately, they refuse warnings and stay in their camps so they end up having to be rescued. Yes we do have streets running through the flood basins with traffic lights, sidewalks and everything because most years they stay dry. The purpose of the flood basins is to keep the cities above water when we do have these massive flood events.

      @@alllifematters Heavy rainfall affects the canyons and mountain foothills, where mudslides are a problem, most of all. Basically, differences in elevation where the high ground can turn into lower ground. For 20 years, I lived within a few miles of the San Gabriel Mountains foothills, but I was on mostly flat ground. Occasionally, heavy rain would soak through a corner of my roof and the storm gutters would flood, but nothing more than that.

I made my ex trim our trees accordingly, and he thought i was being paranoid until we had a really wet year and other people's trees were falling on their homes. Then, he was glad we did that. Yes it did happen a couple of times in the past. 84 downtown San Bernardino was wading in 6 feet of water after the remnants of a hurricane rolled on in and dumped it's load giving the flood control systems a major test. Mountains being eroded in many areas causing rock and mud slides.
