California floods: Homes destroyed and drivers stranded in 'apocalyptic' severe weather

- HORRIFYING aerial footage showed a stranded motorist being rescued in a flooded area in Los Angeles, California, as the United States is hit by 'apocalyptic weather'.
More than 350,000 homes and businesses were without electricity in California on Monday after a storm pounded the state with heavy rainfall and hurricane-force winds, initially knocking out power to more than one million customers, according to electric utilities and PowerOutage.us.
The storm is the second so-called Pineapple Express weather system, or atmospheric river, to hit the most populous U.S. state in the past week.

The woman screaming when a tree fell and he says it’s OK I got it on video. 🤣🤣
At least his cellphone isn't damaged.
I think I'd be a little PI$$ED if a tree crashed into my $2 million dollar LA home but at least he gets to share it on TikTok.,
Steve was the chillest guy, he was probably thinking . “Like a good neighbor, State Farm is here “
I'd think you got more to worry about than tiktok content, but that's none of my business.
Perhaps they are renters?!@@susycavaleiro1265
You have to respect those people who provide rescue and other services to the community. That despite this disaster and their own homes and families also being impacted they are out there helping and saving lives. Thank you for ur professionalism and work.
God blesses all in need . Thank you for your rescue work always🙏
🎶🎶 It never rains in Southern California 🎶 .....
Yep! Those days are gone!
Destruction and devistation is the new normal.
It pours, man it pours..
@@AmandathePandaBooks Nah...it changes every 50 to 100 years we just don't live long enough to see it all. Been doing this back and forth for 4 million years.

Mother nature self cleaning it appears.
She will self clean the Bible belt in the spring, with tornadoes...
So happy the guy on the car was saved. But I started laughing when I seen them just casually walked to get him 😂😂. Like that’s all he had to do
Too bad no Gators around.?
Would have been more interesting..
😂
😂😂right..oh its only 2 feet of water ok.
😂😂😂😂
@@Transparencies-EST.1787 exactly😂 I could say he was on a boat on the ocean then different ball game🤣🙋
It happened in Nor Cal in '86. I know because I was there, it was Valenntines day and my wife went into labor at 10 at night, the hospital was in Petaluma and I had to drive on Hwy 101,but the water was a couple feet deep on the hay, I needed a CHP to guide us, we made it and my son will be 38 next week😊
Congrats on your son! mine were 84, 87, 90. Great years! also, yeah I was there in Saucelito 86 on the bay view hillside, (IKR?) when the floodpath same range of hillside opposite the city where the GG Bridge connects, there was a home over there, we heard a huge roar, the hillside took down the house and neighbor. Building in these "flashflood" paths always a huge NO. Same thing in Montecito. It's always the cities fault in urban planning.
@kiradelarochefoucauld7499 That was a really bad year for Sebasapol and and the Russian river area too!
What happened? I don't understand why people are freaking out.
My eldest was born in 1986 also. We lived in Chico and watched the levee breaking in Linda. To this day, there is speculation that the levee was deliberately blown on that side of the bridge.
Change to come.
WTF? Dude a tree just crashed into your $2 million dollar LA home and you're like. "It's okay I got it on video".
Obviously, he’s not thinking clearly!
He does not care .. house will be FORCLOSUR for sure ha ha
A 2 million dollar home out there is 90K in Iowa.
I would think they have insurance.
What happened to IS EVERYBODY OK?
When you pray for rain, be ready to deal with the mud.
Yup and years of drought fires heavy rain will be far worse.
Especially if forest and land management is forsaken.
@@angelh5762yep
The federal government owns 47.70 percent of California's total land, 47,797,533 acres out of 100,206,720 total acres.
Get Trump out to start raking...
@@imdone1967 well they don't spend money on managing that land. Common knowledge it would make a difference.

We never know how good we have it until there's a devastating event 😢
Amen to that 💗
"devastating" 😂.
😀😀so they came walking to the guy stranded on top of his car.
Imagine how scary it'll be to walk blindly in water you can't see thru, I think I'll wait for the guys with sticks too
Why do people insist on driving through flooded roads anyway?? He could've walked carefully straight from the front of his car seeing as the car was on a road. If there was a sinkhole he would see the water running into it. Or maybe he wouldn't see anything because he was too busy with his phone. Wasted fire crews time.
@@susycavaleiro1265 There you go thinking for yourself again.
Turns out when you pave/put roofs over 90% of the area on hills, the ground can't handle to the water. Who knew.
Is someone 30 inches in water really stranded? The man takes deeper baths. 😂😂
This is slightly misleading. This video actually shows the flood containment system working. The flooded areas shown are in flood basins and river beds. Because California does not usually get enough rain to fill the basins or keep the river beds from being dry, homeless people camp in them. Unfortunately, they refuse warnings and stay in their camps so they end up having to be rescued. Yes we do have streets running through the flood basins with traffic lights, sidewalks and everything because most years they stay dry. The purpose of the flood basins is to keep the cities above water when we do have these massive flood events.
Got to have the drama though.
So basically it's only the flood basins and such but the rest of l. A. Is ok? It's hard because they only show the worst parts on the news... I think the landslides will continue to devastate even up north into Oregon...
I was walking on the beach yesterday and noticing all of the fallen cliffs how quickly they turn to mush with enough water
@@Athena124did you forget how the news business works?
@@alllifematters Heavy rainfall affects the canyons and mountain foothills, where mudslides are a problem, most of all. Basically, differences in elevation where the high ground can turn into lower ground. For 20 years, I lived within a few miles of the San Gabriel Mountains foothills, but I was on mostly flat ground. Occasionally, heavy rain would soak through a corner of my roof and the storm gutters would flood, but nothing more than that.
@@DymonBeats Not at all.
Geoengineering of weather.
😆😂
Exactly! Thank you for thinking straight and for speaking up.
Reading comments like this is what I imagine a stroke to feel like
@@CyanideSunshines Your comment is the expression of absolute ignorance and stupidity.
He had to be rescued in knee deep water. That's exactly what's wrong with California
Well explain how he suppose to know how deep water is??? Are warm and comfy???
was that the red line district?
@alicefkafka2569 you look at the side of your car...
High schools in most of Southern California don't have pools so a lot of kids don't learn how to swim. I couldn't believe it when I moved there. They live right next to the ocean!
@alicefkafka2569 it doesn't look like a raging torrent. The car is more than likely still on the road where it stalled out.if the car is in a hole, the water is even swallower than it looks.
Stay safe anyone
Which part of Cali being hit the worst by this flood ?
San Diego
giant tree collapses on house...woman screaming "Steven! Steven!"...man: "I got it! I got it on video!"
Oh Steven...priorities in order lol
And that's the difference between weather and climate. Climate is what you expect. Weather is what you get.
And weather modification makes it happen.
Don't believe that it's happening, type into Google *"California Weather Modification"* and you'll see dozens of companies and even Utilities are involved.
Reality is a cruel mistress. She may show up at your door when you least expect her.

My friends are on 'vacation' in SoCal right now. Were bragging before they left about all the sun they were going to bask in😉

@@darkeyeze they say it's been raining for two weeks
@@kRomani-gh4wsDefinitely not my area. Last week, we had some unseasonably warm temperatures.
FOR SOME WEIRD REASON I DREAM BOUT THIS FLOOD A WK. AGO THAT CALIFORNIA BEEN FLOODED ALL OVER BUT ITS ONLY A DREAM I DIDNT KNOW TURNOUT THIS WAY IM SO SORRY GOD PLEASE HELP THEM ALL!!
Weather! But don't forger, the entire LA and Long Beach area is a FLOOD PLAIN! What SoCal people tend to do is cut down all the trees near their houses after such weather events. This is live on earth, folks!
Apocalyptic? Hardly🙄
You clearly don't live there. Bot
Relatively... keep in mind we've had years here in SoCal where it only rained 3-4 days and even then it was sprinkling and the sun came out the next day lol
@@SandraWade666 Acopalyptic meaning: complete destruction of the world, resembling the end of the world.
Hope the whole nation should send help and support to California
I always make sure we dont have trees tall enough to reach the house if it falls. Trim those puppies up. If it's 10 feet from the house, then it's got to be less than 10 feet high. I made my ex trim our trees accordingly, and he thought i was being paranoid until we had a really wet year and other people's trees were falling on their homes. Then, he was glad we did that. My dad always made sure drainage was good wherever we lived.
NATURE WILL TAKE HER COURSE 💚
The droughts over !! 💦🤙 .
Thank God California's built enough reservoirs to hold enough of this water to get them through the next inevitable droughts.
Wow prayer 🙏
O my goodness my heart goes out to you and everybody in California that is going through this. Wow unbelievable
Insurers refuse to pay and the Blackrock juice banker is going to scoop up those real estate at bargain price 😅

hmmm Tens of thousands not dead. 🤯 My condolences to those who have lost loved ones. RIP
This kind of events will propably be very frequent in the future. The day when insurance companies stop givin insurances is when it really starts to hurt.
This is normal.
Insurance companies have been dropping California before the storms. Our homeowners insurance left California a little over a year ago. They dumped all of us. We've only made 1 claim, over 25 years ago. But because Newsom has such idiotic policies on managing forests, the company bailed. There are other companies dropping clients all over California.
A flood event…that’s all this is. Why bring the end of the world fears into it? Loosh?!?
Nope we KNOW.

Remember even in tw I feet of water it can take you if current is strong underneath yes it looks silly but maybe they told him to stay there till help comes.

The guy in the read minivan could have just walked out....what a sally.
GREAT RESCUES- THANK YOU.

Thank you firefighters, police . Another example of not heeding the warnings.
Badly damaged 😢. It’s sad that people are having lots of trouble to go through . It’s not easy without power .
Cali has to be one of if not the worst peace time places to live
California is not unique. Ask India. Ask Pakistan. Ask Canada. Ask Kentucky. Ask Europe, where the UK had unprecedented heat last year and wildfires were raging. Ask people in Africa whose animals are dying from lack of water in an unprecedented drought.
Its not unprecedented if it happens all the time with increasing frequency
@SandraWade666 wild fires?? Oh yeah Cali has those too.. terrible place to live
Say that to Maui and the folks in Lahaina. Still no construction or help!
I have lived in California my whole life, I can assure you, it isn't as dramatic as the news makes it.
Thanks and blessings to the rescue workers‼️🌊
Act of God to wash away sinners .harming kids and young adults. Sick politicians

Please no name calling ,what if it came to your door steps ,you would call for help!
There's no Chicago in California. I think you meant CHICO. ALSO, it's not "SacrEmento " It's SACRAMENTO.
Yes it did happen a couple of times in the past. 84 downtown San Bernardino was wading in 6 feet of water after the remnants of a hurricane rolled on in and dumped it's load giving the flood control systems a major test. Mountains being eroded in many areas causing rock and mud slides.
Wow, I used to live in Riverside county and I was crying on Monday;. Now I know why!

Watching what Mother Nature had given to Cali takes my Breaths away...but watching what Human Nature had given in Israel/Gaza..Iraq, Yemen, Middle East take my Brain away
Brave brave good rescuers!
You mean building land that has historical floods has suffered from floods. I like it when they say " The Worst Since Records Began ". i.e Official records started in 1850 in the UK. The other millions of years are not counted.
You have no understanding of this, do you? Do you even live in California?
And you're wrong actually. Scientists can study the geology of a particular area to understand the climate before recorded records. We know this is unprecedented. 99 percent of scientists know man made climate change is real. The rest work for the fossil fuel industry
@@SandraWade666 So by your mind, anyone not living in the exact place as something is happening has no say about it or can make comments about facts. Have you told this to the people in California protesting in favour of Gazan terrorists ?...
What part of SINCE RECORD BEGUN don't you understand? Gheeze Louise how did you survive until adulthood?
Repent For The Kingdom Of YAH Is At Hand.
The end is near Pray 🙏 to our Only God Jesus Christ our saviour
Uh huh...
The fact that he is that far in explains a lot when he was standing on his car in 2 ft of water - how do people become this weak?
This situation got caught unprepared
G o engin eering for you.
The areas that flooded are areas that flood. Rich people live there and some of their houses got damaged or destroyed. The ones that did, have enough money to be at the Four Seasons right now browsing online for houses that they can pay cash for tomorrow if they so wished.
Sad thing is this is a act of God most insurance companies won't pay out .

If a lightning bolt is gonna hit or a deluge is gonna happen, no amount of " stay safe" will help.
