It’s been a crazy winter for sure, I live in Mammoth I’ve been here 30 years we’ve had some big seasons, but this is relentless, it’s just one storm after another, another 2 feet today🙃
When I lived in upstate New York, I've been in deep snow - up to the gutters on the house! Couldn't see out windows or open doors as they were covered. We had to climb out the 2nd story windows to get out of the house. We did have the National Guard come dig us out after the 4th day. We were able to get 1 loaf of bread and 1/2 gallon of milk to last the 4 days until we could get out to walk several miles to get more food. But... this is worse.
The fact that such a large fraction of these folks appear to still have power is a MIRACLE!!! At least the power company service techs won’t need to rely on their “cherry pickers”!!!
This is crazy! I've never seen so much snow except from footage in Japan. And this is the reson why you build houses with very steep roofs to stop snow from piling up.
Some places must be at or above 700 inches. The CSSL has already had 54 feet and there's several more to come. Quite amazing really. Even the average of 30 feet is amazing. The north east has a reputation for snow, but it's nothing compared to a dry winter in the Sierras. We haven't had a foot of snow in any storm this winter in NH, and the one tomorrow may be the last for the year. I've only used the big snowblower twice this year, and I have a 500 foot drive. First time I'd have been better off with the single stage blower we bought for clearing the path round the house.
This is the best video of all the recent snowfall I've come across. It really shows the magnitude of the situation. I'd be so tempted to go around touching the pine trees because when are you going to be able to touch such a high spot again, unless you climb up. And the machine blowing the snow off the road made it look like powdered sugar.
Watching this in the UK, we don't know how fortunate we are here to live in a mild temperate climate. This footage is absolutely terrifying and just goes to show that nature cannot be predicted or controlled. Good luck to everyone, hope you are all keeping safe and well🙏🤞
I remember deep snow in the 1950s in the Southerntier of New York State. As kids, we thought it was so cool to be able to walk on the drifts up onto the garage roof....well, at least until Dad saw us up there and we got our marching orders to get down!
Aww sounds like some fun memories... well for you and your siblings anyway. Some of my favorite childhood memories were probably among my parents' worst 😂
You've done an amazingly good job of showing everyone the extent to which this storm has grown. What a snow-storm, with possibly more before the calendar is into April.
this pattern started just before Christmas. Had 11 storms up to mid January. Then about a week break then another 3 weeks of storms, another small break then the last 2 weeks of storms.
That's incredible. Never say much about the UP of Michigan again. The UP consistently gets 33" plus/ winter, every year, but 600" is hard to fathom. Higher elevation versus sea level maybe. Blizzard winds, off Lake Superior, consistently, doesn't help either. Well, this snow here in the Sierras will melt in time for the next go around next winter!!
Very well-made video, the fact is most winters are just like this one. My first experience with this area came in 1981. I recall telling my wife when I returned home (Pennsylvania) that all you could see on some of the homes were the chimneys, I was amazed. This is nothing new to this area, it isn't "global warming," it is nature doing its thing, and these people are rugged individuals.
This kind of snow used to be more of the norm when I lived in Tahoe, Truckee and a little town called Floriston (All in California). When I lived there in the 70’s and beyond, Used to park at the bottom of Floriston which is just off interstate 80. Then bring all of groceries up to the house using sleds! We shears had lots of snow that would be there until late spring. I’m glad to see the snow coming back! It’s beautiful but hard work! Keep your roof’s shoveled, propane tanks cleared and watch out for frozen water lines!
I wouldn’t have believed anything in this video if I hadn’t seen it for myself ... unbelievable! Japan is known for heavy snowfall in Northern Honshu and Hokkaido but I’ve not seen anything like this. The banks must be 25 feet high in places. Lord knows what the depths are in the highest places such as Tioga Pass and the peaks.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Well, your video opened my eyes to the reality of the enormous snowfall in California. I could never have comprehended such a sight by words alone. Thank you for your video. This is one sight that I will never forget!
We’ve gotten record snowfall’s in Wisconsin this year for March, but I won’t ever complain again. Those poor people and all that snow and more to come. 🥺
We have to start thinking about when this all begins to melt. Where is the water go to flow? Think about drainage from your home onto and off your property. I can see lots of flooding with the water flowing to the lower spots in the area. Hoping for the best for us all.
@@pats9414 Even on that mountain area there are so many of these roadways that are just tunnels through the snow. There are higher areas and low areas all this melting snow will fill all the low areas like lakes. Worse is: low areas around homes will fill with water with not where to go but into the homes and condos. All this melting snow water has to have a place to go. All the creeks and streams are blocked with heavy snow and ice. I am wishing and hoping for the best for everyone in the sierras this spring and summer heavy snow melt.
Wow. That's the deepest snow I've ever seen and I used to live in IL. Close to WI. Border and Lk Michigan! What a headache that will continue to pose for months to come. Can only imagine the mess from the melt off. 🤯

I shoveled people's walkways for a quarter made some pocket change. And we had an ice rink in the front area between the base housing apartments.
I would to see time lapsed videos of this Epic snowfall! That would be incredible to watch! There has got to be many out there. But they are probably covered up for now!!!!
Absolutely amazing! Wish something like that could/would happen here in Croatia. 2 weeks ago we had a snow storm that dumped 3 feet of snow but this amount is just off the scale insane 😍😍

I’ve been in the Tahoe, incline village area and have seen the homes buried like this, or very close to it. It’s amazing and expected, after all this is an area where the Donner Trail is and the people were trapped in the mountains.
Good air footage.. The best I've seen yet on this subject..... Donner Summit. A lot of those will have problems if another 10 ft. drops on them.. It's hard to clear roof, when the snow level is above the roof......
How do the plows even know where to go? 😮 I live in the southeast US, so this is completely insane to me. Best of luck to everyone in the thick of it 🙏💕
great footage and low key interview. The golden lab was reluctant to come in from the snow -- its natural habitat, and probably rare in that part of California. Wow, it's incredible that the snow will last til July.

Good luck to everyone, hope you are all keeping safe and well🙏🤞
This is very unusual. Last blizzard was about 20 years ago

Wow just Wow!!! Beautiful footage and interviews and thank You! ❤
Thank you for sharing! I knew it was bad out there but this is simply unbelievable!
WOW, that's lots of snow! Thanks so much
That's incredible.
Yes, the Sierra Nevada mnts. are 11-12 thousand feet high.
@@Sonoma_Coast ..I meant to 300" every year with winter usually lasting October through May.
Best video I've seen yet documenting the crazy snows in the Sierras!
There's no such thing as global warming
I live in Tahoe and experiencing that winter was INSANE. So awesome.
I love the ladder.What a great idea
Thanks For The Coverage & God Bless & Protect Us All
Great reporting!
They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Well, your video opened my eyes to the reality of the enormous snowfall in California. I could never have comprehended such a sight by words alone. Thank you for your video. This is one sight that I will never forget!
Awesome footage. Thanks for your content
Please make a side by side video of the area once the snow is gone.
We’ve gotten record snowfall’s in Wisconsin this year for March, but I won’t ever complain again. Those poor people and all that snow and more to come. 🥺
In Menominee Falls Wi there has been hardly any snow this winter. So you must be up north maybe?
Interesting that barely 50 miles away, we've had little to almost none.
Dude, this place is a ski station lol. "poor people," nobody forced them to live at a ski station.
This video is absolutely incredible! I had to remember to close my mouth once in a while!
What a storm !!
Prayers for everyone 🙏🏼
Great video. I wish I could handle snowfall like that with such grace. They're so upbeat and zen about it.
Greetings I feel for the victims that mostly the wood animals that hit freezed at the process
We have to start thinking about when this all begins to melt. Where is the water go to flow? Think about drainage from your home onto and off your property.
I can see lots of flooding with the water flowing to the lower spots in the area.
Hoping for the best for us all.
They’re on a mountain.
Dude, this is a ski station, it's not like they never get snow. They are high up in the mountains lmao, the drainage already exists.
Thats a crazy amount of snow.Thank you for sharing
Wow. That's the deepest snow I've ever seen and I used to live in IL. Close to WI. Border and Lk Michigan! What a headache that will continue to pose for months to come. Can only imagine the mess from the melt off. 🤯
Thank you for a view & interviews I would never expect!!~
Nice views and content. Loved the drone footage very well flown and stabilized. I lived in northern Maine at Lorring AFB in the 60s. And can remember 20 ft plow drifts and snow on the ground in early June . Brings back memory's. Now I live in so. Ca snow is a pain. I shoveled people's walkways for a quarter made some pocket change. And we had an ice rink in the front area between the base housing apartments.
Beautiful❤ interviews from the owners. Its amazing how they survive well❤😊
I would to see time lapsed videos of this Epic snowfall! That would be incredible to watch! There has got to be many out there. But they are probably covered up for now!!!!
Excellent filming!!! I like snowfalls but not ones that kill people......I am sorry for those who lost loved ones.
Absolutely amazing! Wish something like that could/would happen here in Croatia. 2 weeks ago we had a snow storm that dumped 3 feet of snow but this amount is just off the scale insane 😍😍
Thirsty 🌲 are loving it .. lakes are fillin up , creeks are flowing again . Everything’s green . ❤️ Northern California .
I honestly fear for the aftermath for these communities when the snow starts melting. The amount of water that will be left is staggering....
so they can stop taking water from the surrounding states to feed their population. deal with nature guys. to the world you are just like the ant, another pest to deal with.
You do realize that this is a ski station right?
Super footage. Thank you for your reporting 👍
Quite unbelievable stuff, second floor the new ground level.
This is wonderful! Nature reclaiming itself. The beautiful silence is overwhelming, yet calm. Except for the random humans here and there.
I’ve been in the Tahoe, incline village area and have seen the homes buried like this, or very close to it. It’s amazing and expected, after all this is an area where the Donner Trail is and the people were trapped in the mountains.
While this precipitation is a godsend to CA, I hope all this snow melts gradually and doesn't cause major flooding, mud flows.🙏
I remember sledding in Tahoe when I was a kid.....my foot went through a hole in the snow.....I was standing on top of a tree under the snow.
Good God, people have suffocated like that.
Except in Alaska, I don't think I've ever seen a house so covered in snow.
Good air footage.. The best I've seen yet on this subject..... Donner Summit. A lot of those will have problems if another 10 ft. drops on them..
It's hard to clear roof, when the snow level is above the roof......
This is the smartest comment.
Thank you for your content.
How do the plows even know where to go? 😮 I live in the southeast US, so this is completely insane to me. Best of luck to everyone in the thick of it 🙏💕
Didn't you see the road signs peaking out? LOL.
great footage and low key interview. The golden lab was reluctant to come in from the snow -- its natural habitat, and probably rare in that part of California. Wow, it's incredible that the snow will last til July.
Now we are talking. This is SNOW. I always want more snow, but if I got this much, I would say "Okay, we are good, we got enough".
There are a lot of homes in the Tahoe Basin with second story front doors. Snow like this used to be pretty common
That is true bro.
They say it never rains in California but girl don't they warn ya it pours, man it pours!
That song was written around 1968 when they had this type thing back then as well.
The line in the song is it never rains in Southern California
1. How long before it melts?
2. Will it relieve the drought?
3. Will you give us before & after?
Thank You For Sharing Sending PRAYERS for All the People 🤙🏾
I live in Ontario, CANADA, and this year we've seen a total of maybe 10 inches, only lasting a a few days.
To see the southern states get this, it's telling us something.
You are blessed having that snow, we are on the northern border of Mexico 🇲🇽 and by this days the weather feels like the beginning of summer, so hot 🥵 with nice and fresh mornings but hot after. Noon, I now that snow it’s too much but believe me, I think it’s better than hot days or seeking help to those ✈️ planes to help distinguish fires 🔥 my humble opinion God bless you all 🙏❤️
You made news breathtakingly beautiful!
Ryan Hall Y'all sent me
Me too
The homeowners were surprisingly calm considering the situation
This is what the Donner party was stuck in with their covered wagons
