This is the first time to hear this for about 40 years. For some reason, Han's line "Quickly, quicky. Chewie! Charges, c'mon!" has always stayed with me from when I was a kid, long after the tape and book were thrown out by my Mum (which I never forgave her for). Ever since, if ever I was in a hurry, I'd think "Quickly. quickly. c'mon, Chewie, give me those charges!" A little different from the original but that was my memory.

This is incredible! I did not know this existed, not sure if it was ever published in the Scandinavian part of the world. If I had this, I know I would have listened to it every hour of the day growing up in the 80s😃 Thanks for sharing this👍
It is incredible quality, and interesting to hear that they probably had access to some master tapes with clear voices and were using actual movie soundscape 👌 Interesting to hear the custom edits and flow for this mix, it is masterfully done and to think it was released same time as the movie, just👌

45:30 “…and back to their circle of love.” That’s how you end a Star Wars!

I’m pretty sure I had two copies of this but one was a picture disc. I’m also certain that if I’m remembering correctly, we didn’t know they were the same album or my mom would have told me I already had it at home

Is it just me or am i hearing alternate takes, also the audio seems isolated & cleaner than the movie version.

Definitely. Whoever produced the album would.have had access to the ADR tapes of just the actors' looped dialogue, as well as a copy of the film with only dialogue for a clean transfer, then later they add sound effects and music that fit this specific version of the film. I can't imagine there are other ways to hear alternate takes. These albums were an amazing way to enjoy the film, as many of us back then didn't have a vcr yet.

#1 Well, the only way to "capture" anything off tv were Polaroids. That's what i did and still have them. Of course it was an expensive option so very few were taken whenever there was a commercial or scene.
#2 The music soundtrack for Return is considered the worst in qualaty. i wonder if the person in charge of the record had the "original tapes" from John Williams & Lucas. I heard the tapes are lost somewhere. @@leonavu

Nice I noticed the first album had less speaker involvement and more of the actual sound and music so it kinda of transported us into the film . The later versions without the Big R seemed to be a regular audio book and took us out of the film with too much describing what you’re listening to instead of the similar subliminal experience in the 1977 LP . It is a shame that none of these made to CD 💿 like the radio drama did .
