- I went travelling around Thailand for one month in January 2022.
The first half of the trip I was hosting a bespoke group tour with Intrepid Travel, joined by people who follow my channel.
We had to run the guantlet of the Thailand Pass and the Test & Go scheme, and as you'll see, travel in Thailand wasn't easy.
We still managed to see and experience some incredible places. From Bangkok, to the railway market and floating markets; visitnig the bridge on the River Kwai at Kanchanburil; the gorgeous waterfalls of Erawan National Park; and the ancient city of Ayutthaya.
Also joining me for 1 day before the tour was my good friend @PaddyDoyle.

This trip was in January 2022 when we had to run the gauntlet of the Thailand Pass Test & Go scheme.
As of July 2022 all these rules are gone, so this is a unique document of a strange and weird time of travelling, that wasn’t without its rewards though!

The way things were and are in Thailand aren't exactly following logical reasoning. Heck many still wear masks on motorbikes, but no helmet (mind you, outside is the safest place you could be... ventilation). Then again, where in the world they did? Seemed all like a bunch of copying lemmings going down the canyon treating it like some kind of Ebola. Some countries more so than others though, China is still a crazy mess. All for a flu-like virus that happens to spread more easily (in fancy words, an upper respiratory infection). But then again, the flu never did have the same spotlight and research as Corona did. Funny how things are now going back to normal while it is still there and funny how we probably helped variants on its way and kept the epidemic going longer than needed. Anyway, yes the Thailand rules were insane and I still wonder why one would dare to come. And yes, my thoughts were for 2 years with the tourist economy. Slayered by a fearful government.
It's nice to see people my age on this tour, Im often put off joining trips when it's big groups of 18/19 year olds, not that there is anything wrong with them, I just feel i am at a different part of my life and struggle to relate so much.
Mate, brilliant! I don’t say this lightly, but this might just be my favourite from you ever. The music, the editing (loved the game/pixel effect at the beginning!), the saga.. all of it’s brilliant!

Absolutely brilliant and I'm so glad you documented it. Even now, those quarantine restrictions look ridiculous. In a few years we're all going to look back and ask ourselves what on earth were the government's thinking. Quality video, bet you no one else has a record of this.

I'm actually heading out to South-East Asia in November for an 8 month digital nomad trek which was greatly inspired by your HK2NY trip, that I ironically found on UA-cam while sick with COVID a few months ago. I'll be landing in Saigon and will be in Bangkok on December 1st 😍 anyways thank you for the amazing documentaries
The editing in this video is stellar, too bad about the quarantine that must have sucked. The bidet bit and shawshank show how much time you had to perfect comedy into the video.
Can't wait to visit the waterfalls myself one day, and hope that day will come sooner that later.

On Sep 2021 we went to Kyrgyzstan road trip for 2 weeks. Highly recommended. The best nature we've seen in the world

As a frequent visitor to Thailand I was really desperate to get back but traveling under test and go Jan 2022 was insane and something that I would have never done. The stress, risk of quarantine and potential costs as well as all of the horror stories, way too much of a gamble. Everything back then was clearly money motivated, as you said yourself the rules made no sense and I'm stunned you risked organising a tour. Either way I enjoyed the video but very glad that I held off.

He talked about watchin your vids way back in november/december 2021. So i looked you up at insta, started followin your story and how you travelled thailand, so i was waiting on this video to come one day 👍
I myselve booked a trip in oktober 2021 for a period from march and April 2022, so long after you finished your trip i was in Thailand, and boy was it great. So little tourists and therefor enjoyed a lot of places without a crowd 🤫
But we had the same path to walk for the thaipass all the paperwork, 5 day quarantaine etc. It was a mess, and why... well just go with it as it is at that moment.
You got me hooked from within the first 5 minutes so will watch more of your channel soon mate. Thanks for your hard work editing and filming this, and from now on as always, C Ya in the next one Karl, cheers 🙌🍻
