Good thing I had a look at your video. The other videos I have seen don't have the important detail you provide. Much appreciated and thanks for not frying my brain with loud music like so many other presenters
G day Lloyd, Yes having the radiator removed easily is a good think for working on it and filming as well. There is a few things to go on the old girl yet though.
Just did this job. One thing to watch out for is the holes on the new hub not 100% matching up with the holes in the fan and pulley. Only off by a millimetre or so, but enough to make getting the bolts back in a bit fiddly, especially when going in from the side as I was.
👍 That's on my to do list, got a slight weep, and quite a wobble, as well as the thermostat. Thinking about replacing the injector nozzles as well. Might give them a clean 1st, see how they go.
My cooling system didn't have a thermostat in it when I found it, but I didn't know, and I didn't know why the radiator was venting the pressure after 10mins of warm-up. It's because if you take the thermostat out you have to also block off the thermostat bypass hose. The farmer before me did half-a-job.
Hi Lance what’s the half moon plate for on fan on my new tractor some one has put it between the pully and pump am guessing it should be on out side like your
My bought a TEA 20 recently and I have been working at getting it running. Your videos are much "appreciated" When I had the carb off I noticed that a piece of linkage (a rod that connects the throttle to the choke) was missing and I haven't been able to locate a replacement part. Any idea of where I could find one??? Thanks!
G day Fred, They are just a bit of 1/4" rod with a 90deg at one end and a unf thread at the other. Easy enough to make depending on what gear you have at your disposal. The only other option is a wreckers.
Mine hasn't got that funny slotted bracket that came out from under two of the fan bolts . What's that for? All I can think of it being is a balance weight, but how would you balance that assembly? Obviously meant to be there or Lance would'a been surprised.
G Day Stuart, That slotted bracket is called a balancer in the parts breakdown but I cant imagine it doing very much as it is so light. I went to the repair manual and it doesn't get a mention so I'm not sure really.
Thanks for checking on that, Lance. I just had a thought and am wondering if it's there just to offset the out-of-balance caused by that big cotter pin on the water pump shaft. It would be interesting to see how they had it placed in relation to the cotter pin.
I need to purchase new pump but I also need the housing that the pump attaches to. It is in-between the motor and the water pump. I can not find this part on your web shop. Is this available? My unit has the hose outlet to the bottom of the radiator rusted away. Thanks

It must be balancing the cotter pin and/or the trapezoidal bolt pattern so you have to put it across the correct two bolts, but I'm keen to know what the adjustment procedure is...
I often don't like to as all of the scale etc once dislodged will block the top of the radiator fins, then you over heat and need a radiator repair or replace. Sometimes it is best left alone.

You're very welcome!
so happy i come across your channel, doing my first restoration wish me luck
You can do it! Just poke along with it.
Well done again Lance,as usual very informative & great to see the grey fergies getting the tlc they deserve.
Thanks Dave.
Getting the radiator out of the way makes replacing the water pump an easy job Lance.
Nice work getting the pulleys lined up. Enjoy your week.

G day Edward, I have found that out as well. Just off a little.
Bundy Bears Shed nothin a little rub with a file on the fan and carrier holes couldn’t fix
G'day Lance another inspiring video, looking forward to the next thanks mate John
Thanks John, A few to go yet on this old girl, the 1948 has had to go on the back burner.

This is a nice easy job, sit on a milk crate and fiddle away.
Very informative. and thank you for a great presentation.
Glad you enjoyed it!

These tractors are old and have had many different people with varying skills working on them. I'm not so suprised at what I find now a days.
Perfect. Always learn something good from your vids
Thanks Andree, Glad you get something from them.
If you like working on tractors that one seems to be the best one to have.
Plenty to do on it Harrold, I wont be short of video content if I keep buying them that's for sure.
Thank you for all
Thankyou.
"......she's had a wild and varied life the old fan......clatter, boink, doyiiiing....". nothin precious here.
G Day Mark, No she has had very little loving in its life, but with a few parts and a pat here and there it should come good.
Is this the same procedure for the 23c diesel on a FE35? Mine is leaking excessive water from this area so I’m going to do a pump and seal.
Yes it is the same pump usually. Unless there has been an after market one fitted.
Hi Lance what’s the half moon plate for on fan on my new tractor some one has put it between the pully and pump am guessing it should be on out side like your
It is a balancing plate and yes on the outside
@@BundyBearsShed 👍🏻 they put it between dang and water pump pully lol 😂
@@BundyBearsShed thank you

Lance, thanks for you reply, I'll have a go at making one. Great that you find the time to answer queries. Love your videos on Fergies.
A lot of good information
Thanks Richard.

Oh, wait. I guess a trapezoid bolt pattern is inherently unbalanced too. Maybe that's why it's there. Er..., do you sell that balancer Lance?

No it is not available ,only second hand. There are also different ones depending on if the water pump is on the block or the head .
@@BundyBearsShed thanks for that tip
@@BundyBearsShed do you have a second hand one for sale? Need on the head.

Great video Lance pity I wasn't restoring me fe35 now, your videos would have helped no end
Thanks Gary, Perhaps you need to buy another one lol.
How do you change belts with the shaft going threw the belts on a MF 35
Remove the shaft.
Bundy Bears Shed is that hard or eazy to do ?
Does anyone know what the purpose of the curved washer is? The one that sits with two bolts in front of the pulley and is market "balancer".
I'm keen to know as well. The parts book calls it a balancer but it is very light.
It must be balancing the cotter pin and/or the trapezoidal bolt pattern so you have to put it across the correct two bolts, but I'm keen to know what the adjustment procedure is...
How do you change the starter selanoit
usually just un bolt it and undo the pin if you are refering to the switch.
Hey, shouldn't you have run the circuit with some cleaner before fitting the new pump ? That thing looks rusty as hell :)
