My son passed in January of this year. We waited until May to give him a memorial service at his favorite place, the beach. I was able to visit his job in Baltimore and hang out for a few hours were he once sat during his breaks. His coworkers & CEO gave me a beautiful experience. Jack says it all. This song brings me peace.

YEs - I have to put Jack at my top 3 for writing which is something. i love that 'what if' fear of who you leave behind. That's really what grief is; is the people we leave. Perfect for the times. Both albums were written at the same time. the contrasting perspectives are brilliant. Him singing Jolene, which is Dolly's - he puts so much passion into the song you don't think about who's singing it; just let it hit you in the chest!
Brilliant video and song. Shot in infra red incase anyone wondered. I've seen plenty of infrared photos but this is the first video I've seen using the technique and it's done so well. Hats off to all involved.
Saw Jack's show in Phoenix on May 28th. It was my hubby, my MIL, and me. The show was incredible, from start to finish. My brother in law was supposed to come too, but his wife wouldn't let him come out to Phoenix. (She was invited but she couldn't get work off). We all agreed he'd go "next time". The following night, his car lit on fire (we don't know how) and he was gone, just like that. So, this new song hits really hard right now. Tell the people you love that you love them right now. You are not guaranteed another tomorrow.
And he said something along the lines of, "this song is called If I Die Tomorrow...it comes out tomorrow...great, now I'm going to be up thinking about that all night."

Saw Jack last Saturday 6/4 in Mountain View. Saw the White Stripes twice. This guy has not lost a single step. Fantastic show and Fear the Dawn is his best solo album to date. Can't wait to hear the new stuff. This song is just perfect.

Do yourself a favor and make sure you see this man be a rockstar live. Only the very best of the best have a presence that you can feel from hundreds of feet away in a crowd. It's really something, and he has always made it look effortless. Plus by now he's played an unimaginable number of shows around the world in venues huge and, um, I guess a bus? Anyway, with that much experience I'm pretty sure ifhe played in a half full Arby's dumpster, the sound would still be incredible.

It blows my mind how much talent this man has! His concepts and styles have changed branching out into just about every type of music you can name, and he has been consistently on point more so than any other recording artist I can think of. His solo recordings are stunningly timeless. I thought Boarding house reach was such a groundbreaking recording due to the experimental layering of soundscapes he created wondering how he would apply and use what he discovered making that album. Well, Fear of the Dawn gave me the answer to that. It is the best thing this genus has done to date, and from the tracks, I have heard so far from Entering Heaven Alive it might top that record. He is the most talented person in music today bar none!!!!!

I was going to sing “Love Me Tender” by Elvis accapela and ask if I did a good enough rendition if I could get an autographed picture. But ever since my wife passed away from Covid-19 last year her dogs have become like my children and all I could think about was hurrying home to make sure they were ok.

Saw Jack White twice with The White Stripes and once with The Raconteurs. Each time was excellent.
So many synchronicities here, so many reflections, so many comments that could be made... the man, Native American Man- who is he, where have we seen him in the past, who is digging the place for Jack, Jack willingly laying down, with peace, into the Fogou dug for him by a ghost of the land, and, just before he closes his eyes, after the long remembrances of a hard life carried and done with the strength of the love of others, he says "thank you, and I wish to give back all the love to all who gave freely so that I could stand and walk through an impossible life. A life of service, maybe or maybe not, all tasks completed, but as an absolute witness to all things that needed to be seen. Something so heavy that the burden could only be carried with the strength of others love. mjb
