dude used a 91-94 explorer radiator, s10 headers with the passenger header flange moved 2 inches lower and had to smash the back of the firewall back a little.
I have a swapped 92 5sp also! FYI the oil sender on those gauges is a dumby gauge. The sender is a switch, and there is a resistor on the back of the gauge cluster! To make it a real one, remove resistor and use a Ford sender from pre 85 Ford trucks
I have a LQ4 6.0 from my 2003 Yukon Denali I just purchased a 1999 Ford Ranger extended cab and 5 speed manual trans it's currently the factory 4 cylinder but I would like to know a list of things I will need to mod and buy to make this swap happen and work correctly. Its going to be my first swap but just was hoping for some good tips and advice. I just want to learn and be able to teach it to my son
Well there really is no correct answer. There is a plethora of cams out there based on a ton of variables. The Truck Norris cam is very popular, sounds good and works well on a completely stock engine. Hope that helps
There isn’t really out there as a “kit”. If I remember correctly someone was making the engine mounts at one point. Other than that you are kinda on your own. If you are looking to just drop it off and pick it up complete, feel free to shoot us an email for an estimate - David@zerotosixtyperformance.com
Hey I love what you did with the ranger I have a 79 Monte Carlo with a small block what do you think we can do to it I don't like the 350 trans it has 411 gears in the rear and dual possy where you located at seems like Florida
Big question... The motor mounts. I'm currently ls swapping my 2000 2wd ranger and having clearance issues knowing it needs to go higher in the engine bay. Currently using DD 280z mounts and they sit too far down in the engine bay. You have any photos of info on your custom mounts? Please!!!
How well does the ar5 hold up too abuse? Also how does the gearing feel, does it fall out of power on the shifts? Ar5 has some pretty wide gears compared too a t5
There are plenty of people that abuse the ar5 and have had good luck. I personally thing it would hold up just find for a driver but any sort of application that is going to get abused I just don’t trust it personally. In this application the gear ratios worked out just fine. As far as the t5 goes, I would trust this trans over that thing
Did you use the factory ranger clutch master cylinder with the ar5? I'm putting a 5.3 with an ar5 in my 93 ranger and trying to find some info on what clutch feed line will work.
Hey, looking to put a 5.3 into a ranger here. I've got a 2004r but I think manual would be much more fun. now with this swap what is needed ? I've got a 5.3 out of a 2011 silverado is has a 4l60 4x4 with T case. what do I need to find and buy for it ? if you've got any links it'd be super helpful thanks !
We built everything custom for this truck so idk how much off the shelf stuff you can buy for it. Ours was also 2wd so you are kind of on your own for the 4wd stuff.
I'd love to know how much you charge for all this. I have a lifted 93 Ranger with the 2.3, and I think walking is faster. Of course, I would want heater and a/c.
I have a 91 ford ranger 5 speed with the 2.3, I am looking to do the same thing, no a/c or heater too. Could you by chance give me a list of the stuff needed besides the engine and trans
@@Zero2SixtyPerformance I'm fine with a custom shaft, but what I'm asking is if there's any off the shelf headers that would fit if the steering shaft could me moved out of the way. I'd much rather do a column relocation and a custom shaft than a set of diy headers.

We have the Holley 3.5 screen in the car also so you can see the actual readings digitally as well. Thanks for the tip though!

Idk that I can give you an exact list but in this particular swap we used an ar5 and ict billet accessory brakets.
I've got an 88' Bronco 2 I'm doing the same with but with a manual transmission and Dana 44 axles.
Bet that thing is SMILES PER GALLON FUN
Nice build bro, what seats are those they look badass
I have no idea. Never really paid attention to be honest.
Very sinister looking. With some Ruugas. What kind of challenge was the using the stock shifter?
Nothing a little cutting and welding couldn't take care of. It's the gm transmission with the Ford shifter
What steering column did you use? I have custom-made my headers on my 98 Ford ranger and I’m not like in the way. It sounds.
Stock column. I built a new shaft for it from the firewall to box.
Hey so I have an 85 fanger I would like to do this to. I may or may not get message back but was wondering about a good cam

6spd gearbox t6 4x2 can fit 6spd t6 4x2
I've got a 91 extended cab I want to do this to. Someone point me in the direction of where to start please

The factory master has a .75 bore which is capable of actuation the slave. So yes. -3an line
Did you fab your own motor mounts. If not which company did you go with ..
We fabricated the mounts
Ate you making them for order. If not where would you recommend
I'm doing a LS swap to my 92 ranger I would want to know if I can reach out to you and get some pointers where I should start and how I should do it

How much did it cost to build the hold thing
Roughly 18k
I'm new here and love what you are doing. Which Holley are you using?
Terminator X
How can I get ahold of you brother I want to do this exact swap for my 07 single cab 5 speed

Do you think off the shelf headers would have fit if you had relocated the steering shaft exit point on the firewall?
Maybe but remaking the shaft was mich easier

V8 s10 headers will be close. The problem is the factory shaft has a huge rubber damper on it which will contact the headers.
Turbo it now
Ive got a 02 ranger that i wanna do a lq9 or a lt from the 1ss
Let's do it!
How much does a build like this cost
$19k installed
How did you get it to bleed correctly bro ?
The clutch system
Nothing special. Remote bleeder like any other GM vehicle with the same style release bearing
Do u keep the original transmission?
We used an Ar5 transmission
Can the ar5 hold the 400hp?
Yes. Idk how much I would trust it on something that’s going to get beat on or a heavy vehicle
Is that a IAT sensor in the intake tube?
Yes it is

Fabricate mounts. Other than that pretty straightforward

It’s a custom shaft and factory column
