I wish the title says about mixing two traditional wedding rather than just say "Traditional Vietnamese Wedding" when there's a mixed of traditional Filipino wedding.
+kokiang Thanks for your input!
Fun fact: this series is more active on SnapChat, and their caption on there was something like "this couple swapped their cultures with each other" and the whole concept of how the bride incorporated Viet traditions and the groom with Filipino ones as a symbol of their love despite their difference in culture and accepting different cultures in the name of love was the theme compared to this version.
@@refinery29 the title should be edited. it confusing really.
I think it's okay because we Filipinos don't really have a traditional wedding
@@mltvk8769 170+ tribes and you think Philippines doesn't have a traditional wedding. You sure about that?
Title completely ignored the Filipina's side, it should be "this Filipino-Vietnamese"
Maybe because filipinos don't really have traditional weddings?
What a beautiful couple. Wow!!! He lost a mother but gained a beautiful bride.
V.L Christian his mother would be proud at how wonderful her son turned out and the girl he married is perfect for him.
She looks so gorgeous in her ao dai (and so does he in Barong Tagalog); which I think that's quite cool that they traded. As a Vietnamese American girl myself, I hope I can don such a beautiful ao dai and be as beautiful as all the other brides out there in theirs. Thank you to this beautiful couple for sharing their story. What a wonderful wedding! Wish you two the best!
I grew up in an Albanian family and my parents always hated where they came from, they always used to speak in english, even though I knew Albanian, they always used to tell me to avoid Albanians, and the most important I was forbidden to get married to an Albanian guy, till life gave them a major plot twist and I met the man of my dreams, that he was Albanian. Seeing these people loving and incorporating their culture in their lives is something so beautiful that I wish I had in my life.
Never forget where you people are coming from, no matter what.
Why?
Trueee
Identity crisis.
I got so confused by the title bc of the barong in the screenshot, and then saw that it's a Vietnamese-Filipino wedding!
I don't really think we have a traditional wedding
My partner is Teochew (Chinese from Cambodia) and I am mixed (Mountain Jewish, Russian, Ukrainian and then some), but both my parents are from Azerbaijan. We both grew up in Canada and are totally Québécois and Montrealers. We are planning on honouring all of the cultures we identify with and I really wonder what our wedding will be like...
+ekatlaterrible Wow! So much culture!
Sounds crazy. I was wondering the same thing. Nigirian Ghana Spanish Phillipina Irish Tai, and his Mexican Salvadoran Arabic. How do you even combined that.
But it sure does sound like a fun time
J'adore Montréal et la diversité. Je savais même pas qu'il y avait des communautés juives en Azerbaijan. The more you know. I wish u guys the best
What do you think of the way this couple mixed traditions from both of their cultures? Share with us below!
I think it's beautiful. As of late cultures and ethnicities often have lots of turmoil between them with the argument of one is better than the other or it has to be a certain way. To see not one, not two, but three culture being represented equally and truthfully together is amazing and beautiful. Thank you Refinery29 💖
Why don’t you change the title and show some respect?
Exchanging Traditions was so amazing! I love how they both embraced all aspects 💕💕 many blessings to the happy couple
A beautiful ceremony! Glad you could share!
+maiajayne Thanks for watching!! :)
This wedding looks beautiful 😍 I’m currently planning my wedding to incorporate both my chinese culture, my fiancé’s Korean culture, and the western culture. It was awesome seeing a video about blended cultures
I'm Viet and my wife is Thai. I went back to Thailand for our traditional Thai Buddhist ceremony/ wedding. When she arrived in America a year later, we had a Viet traditional ceremony for our family and friends .
@Jacky Phantom 40% of Thai people have Chinese blood, and many other ethnic groups. Well, very similar
@Jacky Phantom lol it is you who drags Vietnamese into indigenous people of Southeast Asia. Vietnamese people are Vietnamese only, we are not like Chinese as well as other Southeast Asians . Do you know which country the most hated by Vietnamese? Haha ridiculously, there's no reason a person wants to be who he hates
@Jacky Phantom You don't understand Viet's thinking because simply you don't have the same culture as us, many overseas Vietnamese too
@Jacky Phantom China is more of a cutural term. Had China not been united 2000 years ago, it would has become something like Europe nowaday with many countries. Through out the history of China, Han people has assimilated other group of people into one indentity. Fortunately, Viets has escaped that process and got our own independence after so much strugle (1000 years of colonization and many wars and conflicts). We Viets share some similar culture with Chinese, just as Koreans or Japaneses do, but have our own identity, do not belong to China or SEA whatsoever. We are very alert to China, because for thousand of years, we have always been a cake that it wants to swallow. For your information, a recent reliable study shows that Viet peoole's gene share very few similarities with Chinese people from the south of China and very different from Chinese people in the north, but have more similarities with Thai. However, Viet people's DNA have many unique traits that you cannot find in any group of people.
@@nguyentienhaiduong9614 well stated ! Con Hung Chao Lac!

Congratulations to this lovely couple!
The red dress is beautiful
Great content, thanks!
I’m Vietnamese proud to be a Nguyen! That ao dai is beautiful! *dress in Vietnamese (sometimes worn during tet).
Question, Nguyen is the most common family name in Vietnam, is it weird for a Nguyen and a Nguyen to marry one another?
Ruvin Eric Perez Sorry I couldn’t reply sooner! Well we are not all related, it’s a very common last name in Vietnam. My aunt married a guy who has the same last name as her (Nguyen). So it’s not weird at all! That means you don’t have to change your last name and do that paper work after you’re married! Kinda cool right!? By the way, the last name came from an Vietnamese Emperor everybody changed their last name so it would seem like they were royalty, meaning they would get riches (many Vietnamese people are poor). So yeah! There you have it! Thank you for asking!
@@jennycecilia ah i see. Thanks!
@JenuinelyJenny back then kings often kill their rival families and 3-9 generations of the previous dynasty to prevent them come back to challenge them. At that time Nguyen family didn’t have beef with any family so those people tend to change their name to Nguyen. When the Nguyen family took over the throne, a lot of people changed their name to earn favors of royal family, and criminals changed their name to avoid prosecution too.
Beautiful! Not a typical celebration. An experience. 💜
Beautiful wedding!! Can we please see Nigerian wedding , Ghanaian wedding please
+gh1mikie Stay tuned!!
Love this so much!
Thank you for sharing this wedding with us. What a beautiful couple!
+lilib Thank you for watching!

Amazing😍😍😍
Thank you for sharing this beautiful moment with us 💜💙
Gorgeous couple!
It’s more of a combination of two cultures ( Filipino and Vietnamese) rather than just one.
Another beautiful wedding
OMG what a coincidence i’m at a viet wedding now but in america 🤣
This is America!! Congrats!!
The tea ceremony look much alike just like the Chinese paying respect to the elders they even put on the "double happiness" sign as the 'tablecloth', which is called xuang xi in chinese! I am going to have my Chinese-Indonesian Christian wedding and we are going to do the exact same tea ceremony!
I love this ep. :') congrats guys!
+jopipalo Thanks for checking it out!
They better stay together with all that that they did. I loved that they switched cultures.

loved this vid ❤️
This took my breath away
+keeylz Wow!! That's awesome!
I’m Vietnamese
I married a Vietnamese last year and I knew nothing about the tea ceremony. I asked him to ask him family about traditions but was not informed of any. 🤷🏾♀️
Tea ceremony is when the groom brings betrothal gifts to the bride' family/house to pick her up and ask the bride's parents for permission to officially become her husband. In this ceremony, relatives from both bride's side and groom's side will participate as a wish to their happiness. Moreover, the most important thing in this ceremony is the bride and groom have to invite both families of 2 sides a cup of tea (or traditional wine) to show respect (elders are highly respected in our culture). And they also need to worship the ancestors as well. Notably, this ceremony will happen in the groom's house too after it finishes in the bride's house.
So beautiful 😍!
Very nice wedding
Love this
Most beautiful
Love weddings that bring multiple cultures together 😍
Just my side alone is Caribbean and British so image if I marry someone with two unique cultures of their own 😂
*it actually upsets me how "plain" the wedding culture in my family is lol... like the traditions are standard af. Might have to make up so early family traditions or something 😂😂😂"
+sha-ne-ru That would be really cool!
So beautiful ❤️
If only we can get 400 of our friends and family to fly to Thailand from NY this would be a dream 😆. We're stuck in NY probably paying just as much 😭
😍 😍 waw
Just beautiful. I love that people are really going back to being who they are at their core, unapologetically! i love it!
The groom looks mixed, very handsome!
@Jacky Phantom I am not the only Vietnamese to see the groom looks a mixed breed lol
The groom looks more Filipino than the bride to me
Do a basque wedding!
irmura nobody cares.
please do a Balkan wedding
Do the chinese wedding
I'm unsure why this video censors Filipinx cultural wedding traditions from the title.
An afghan wedding next plz
They are both hella fine.
This is, quite literally, Crazy Rich Asians
😍
Love me love u
When you wished you had a culture to be proud of, but instead you’re American.
The groom looks mixed, he doesn't look like Vietnamese to me lol. Wish you both happy anyway
@Jacky Phantom Of course I know, but he really looks like a mixed. Maybe he's really mixed? who know. BTW, My friend also said me looked like a mixed Hollander (Hà Lan), I felt it normal because I knew it was impossible
@Jacky Phantom I am Vietnamese, live in Vietnam over 20 years, love learning Viet culture and people. You can ask other Vietnamese if he looks like a Vietnamese ordinary
, but to me he still looks mixed, what's wrong when him looks mixed?
@Jacky Phantom where are you from? Vietnam huh
@Jacky Phantom I am sure she looks like a Vietnamese, a bit like my aunt lol
@Jacky Phantom ok, Filipino also look like Korean, Japanese, Chinese, right? (I see many Filipinos say that). I wonder What is your ethnicity?
Semi-misleading title, since this is kind of amixed cultural wedding. for a second there I wondered if Vietnamese people really wore a Barong Tagalog (the sheer white suit that the groom was wearing), which is the national costume of the Philippines.
คนไทยมีไม้? 😁
Bunch of ballers overseas during the plandemic. 😂
Manyaman 😆
