    If you ever meet a person who doesn't grin like a kid when plinking steel with a 22, you stay far away from that person!
    A great review, very pleasantly surprised by the trigger
    I wonder if you might consider doing a range review of one of the 22 conversion kits available. I've got a Sig P220 conversion kit that keeps the shooting cheap while maintaining the exact ergonomics and trigger pull of the 45.

    • @HandloaderTV
      @HandloaderTV  2 роки тому

      That my friend is the truth!! They are simply put a whole lot of fun!
      I agree the trigger was most impressive, I know this is just one sample gun but I have heard similar reports from others so hopefully all the triggers are this nice across the board!
      I would absolutely consider it!! I actually have a .22 LR conversion kit for my Kimber 1911 and I really like it a lot. It is a great way to practice and keep the same ergonomics which I feel is very important if you want to practice with your carry gun or run through your carry drills without breaking the bank. At this point the only problems we face is time to fit the video into the schedule and availability of conversion kits, guns and ammunition. However, I think it would make for a good video especially if people like these .22LR videos. Thank you for watching and for your continued support of what we do here! It is greatly appreciated! --Jeremiah

    Another awesome video Jeremiah! I have the FNX-45 Tactical and absolutely love the pistol. After seeing this video I went on the hunt to find the FN-502 Tactical up here in Alaska...but currently NO JOY in finding one. Great report, I could be wrong but I thought most of the 22LR velocities on the boxes are based on shooting out of an 18 to 24 inch rifle barrel? SK makes a 22LR just for pistols, the SK Pistol Match and the SK Pistol Match Special would be nice to see how that performed and grouped. I have never used the piston ammunition as at this point I only have rifles chambered for 22LR. Seriously considering adding a handgun to the 22LR arsenal.

    • @HandloaderTV
      @HandloaderTV  2 роки тому

      Hi Dave, Thank you for the kind word and for watching the video the feedback is always appreciated especially on something like this that is a little outside our normal episodes and content. I think you are correct a lot of velocities seem to be based off of rifle length barrels. It doesn't really bother me to have the velocity so much slower. It is nice to know what ammo is subsonic and what is supersonic especially if you are considering shooting suppressed. I really tried hard to get my hands on that SK pistol ammo but sadly this is as close as I could come. I would love to put that stuff to the test though I imagine it would perform even better. If this video does well we will be doing some more videos on rimfire handguns so keep an eye out for those in the future. We try and make all of our videos comparable to one another in case you wanted to compare accuracy or something like that. I don't want to sway your decision but I will say this is one of the nicest factory triggers I have had in a polymer framed .22 handgun. I was quite impressed with it's overall performance. --Jeremiah

    • @HandloaderTV
      @HandloaderTV  Місяць тому

      Great question the O ring does not need to be removed with the addition of a suppressor but as always double check your alignment with a rod to be sure. In this case we did not remove it and it prevented the suppressor from coming loose even after many round. However, it does make the suppressor more difficult to remove and may require a wrench to do so especially after a prolonged range session. Great question thank you for watching! --Jeremiah

    Good vid. Good review. I'll have to pass as I love my Ruger Mark II too much to stray. Did you say it was zeroed right out of the box? Looks like POI was at about 2 O'clock to me but maybe my eyes have gone blinky. Thanks Jeremiah!

      @HandloaderTV  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you very much for the kind words. I can understand that I have a great deal of love for the Ruger Mark II as well great guns! I did say that and I should have been more specific!! With a bare barrel at 15 yards the point of impact was about half an inch right with standard velocity ammunition but the elevation was pretty good. With the suppressor attached it did shift the point of impact up and to the right to the 2 o'clock position! Also with the subsonic and specialized ammo the point of impact changed quite a bit as well. My apologies on that I should have been more clear! When running the gun on the steel from 7-25 Yards with the Winchester M22 ammo it shot true to point of aim provided I did my part. Thanks for watching and good catch on that I should have been more clear, sometimes I get a little too excited and jump on to the next thought before finishing the thought I was on! --Jeremiah

    Great review of a great gun! My only complaint with mine was , I don't care for the sights. I'm hoping I find sights that "I " like soon.. personal preference! But the guns well worth the $500. I'm having loads of fun ! Mine really likes a hotter round, like the Browning and CCI Mini mag. I did buy some Winchester that had a flatter nose that it didn't like, and have had trouble with the Remington bucket of bullets. But the bucket I bought, the rounds were loose in the casings, dented casing etc.. crap ammo , not the gun! I enjoy mine so much I went out and bought both of my sons each the 502 black and kept the FDE for me. FYI Taylor tactical makes an upgraded spring and apex has the stainless guide rods

      Thank you very much for the kind words and the feedback! I have heard a lot of complaints about the sights as well but for the price I think it could be worse and it's nice that it's optic ready and easy enough to mount a red dot and forget about the sights. Indeed ammo can make a huge difference in accuracy and performance. I have heard that, I will have to pick one up and try it out. I think that would be a very fitting upgrade and I would be curious if it would improve accuracy at all. • @HandloaderTV
      @HandloaderTV  5 місяців тому

      I agree in full with you we could have adjusted the sights however it can change from each ammunition tested so rather we generally don't move the sights as we are testing the precision of the handgun. We want to see how tight of a group we can get on paper and by not moving the sights we can also see if the point of impact changes from one type of ammunition to the next. Why don’t you recommend dry firing that gun. I’m new to the gun world

    • @HandloaderTV
      @HandloaderTV  Рік тому +1

      Great question, It has to do with the fact that it is a rimfire cartridge 22LR, 17HMR, 22 Magnum are all rimfire cartridges. As a result they have a different mechanism/firing pin that is more easily damaged from dry firing compared to centerfire guns such as 9mm luger, 45 auto so on and so fourth. Hopefully that makes sense. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment! --Jeremiah

    I'm disappointed that FN put such cheap open sights on the 502. I wish they would just leave them off. Then, when making the purchase, we could factor in the cost of upgrading them to the 509 sights.

    • @HandloaderTV
      @HandloaderTV  Рік тому

      I have heard others complain about the sights as well, they are at least dovetailed in and replaceable and it is optic ready to boot. Adding the reciprocating mass of steel suppressor height sights to the slide would likely cause problems. Making a reliable .22lr semi-auto pistol is like splitting hairs. Being able to mount a red dot is a huge luxury. It’s no wonder why the sight plates are also plastic…

I would highly recommend a 9mm, they make a version of this gun called the FN 509 and that is chambered in 9mm Luger and would work much better in my opinion than a .22LR. • @HandloaderTV
      @HandloaderTV  11 місяців тому +1

      While most people may not have suppressors many of these guns come with threaded barrels and features that lend themselves towards suppressors. So if you bought the firearm with suppressor features you might as well test it and see how it does with a suppressor. Suppressors are rising in popularity and usage you see more and more of them these days and I hope that trend continues. In addition to that we tested both suppressed and unsuppressed as well for those who don't have a suppressor. So there is just more information being presented and more targets being shot I fail to see how in any way that is a bad thing. I say this in all kindness and we genuinely do appreciate the feedback on our videos but I fail to see how removing the suppressor would make for a better video considering we also tested it unsuppressed.
