River's story started in the series' continuation, but then . . it sort of . . bled backwards in the timeline. As Eleven once said, "We keep meeting in the wrong order", and River, "Life with a time traveller . . Who knew it could be such hard work?"
"It's hard to separate the flirting from the comedic." That may be partly due to just how Stephen Moffat tends to write women. There are a handful of exceptions, but most women he wrote tend to be a highly specific type: openly sexual/flirtatious, confident, domineering except when it comes time to talk about how awesome the male protagonist is, and sassy. Even back in the 90s when he wrote a Doctor Who spoof called The Curse of Fatal Death (minor spoilers incoming), the moment the Doctor regenerated into a woman, her entire personality became about sex. EDIT: Forgot to mention that literally the only TV story where River wasn't written by Moffat was that clip where they're being rained on, which was a mini-episode written by Neil Gaiman.
River's story started in season 4 and ended after season 9 in new Who. There were couple of seasons were she wasn't in them. On television she has seen three Doctor. In compined (like when you ad the audio stories) she has seen all of them except the 13th who is the current one.
@@natsmith303 If River would meet her, then River wouldn't know 13th or River would be dead already or maybe she lied to the 10th Doctor when she said that the last time when she saw him was at the singing towers. Or maybe River snug out during those 24 years on Darrillium.
@@tuuli4002 River was already apparently lying to Ten. "You're the youngest I've ever seen you." Oh really, River? What about all these Big Finish stories with your name on them?!

And even that's almost certainly because Big Finish doesn't have the rights to Thirteen yet.
