I know! I think they want generically boring 4x4s like Mercedes and Jeep. A land rover will always be just that because the British are excellent when it comes to style and reinventing style
I absolutely love this vehicle. I'm so over the soft, aerodynamic, and soccer mom cross-overs. I love the bold lines and classic style. Since I'll be taking mine off the beaten path this was the only real luxury, off-road, SUV available that hasn't forgotten its roots and offered the off road drivetrain I wanted. Beautiful.
It’s not that outdated tbh. It’s quite a nice SUV, my mum drives one, and my only complaints are the backup camera takes forever to turn on, the interior is cramped, and the seats are rather firm. It has 105k miles and it is still decently reliable (tho it has made a ticking noise since the day we got it)
Absolutely amazing car. Tons of interior space, amazing off road capability, great gearbox and steering/road feel, really good mpg for its weight and size, and "theater" seat placement makes it literally best 7-seater (sitting in 3rd row is as good as siting in front, which is saying something). Also really fast and has great power delivery (makes passing effortless and can tow up to 3,5 tons). This car has towed my 2,2 ton crappy off-roader few times and while sitting in discovery you can't even feel it's towing anything at all. Our family loves it. Definitely recommend it if you have a big family and need something like this (it's new price can be quite steep but getting a looked after used one is a great deal). Can't wait for new generation!
Second hand, well looked after and under 40k miles (forty thousand miles) how much you think these would these, 2016 discovery HSE, cost used? $30.000 $40.000 $50.000 Do you still have your land rover?
So Much Better Looking Than The New Discovery :) In 2019/2020 They should just keep this OG look and the look of the Discovery Sport. Throw the other Disco design in the bin. Absolutely horrendous alien looking car
This isn't outdated. Its simple, practical, rugged and refreshing when compared to the gimmicky nature of "modern cars". Who wants to navigate a screen just to change their volume or AC? I prefer using simple, easy to access buttons so i can focus on driving instead of trying to find where the volume button is amongst 30 other "modern" features.
I own a 2016 LR4. Best vehicle I’ve ever owned. Been a LR/RR fan for years. I have owned a LR3, Disco, and a RR Sport. The LR4 is a beast. Just enough luxury and the classic styling make this vehicle a winner. Just follow the maintenance schedule and you will have a vehicle that will last for years. The new Discovery’s styling is terrible. It’s a typical soccer mom’s car. Looks like any other SUV on the road. I can’t tell you how many people have asked me to sell my LR4. Even my dealer wants to buy it back . Long live the LR4!!!!!
I has always preferred the LR4s over the Range Rovers. The Boxy style is legit and the interior is pure luxury. It has a little rugged look that makes it superb. Thanks for the review!
I like the way you open hood by going behind the camera and without obstructing view of cars. You have a unique way of presentation, your videos are much more informative than any other on youtube.Thumbs up mate, you deserve all fame ans success.
Yet another fantastic review, Kyle. I have been a fan of yours for years now and your most recent videos have been absolutely stellar. Keep up the great work!
I wouldn't say it looks dated at all. Sure new things are nice but new doesn't always mean better. Take the Nissan Pathfinder for instance. It used to be a tough and rugged vehicle that had an old school body on frame build. Now look at the new one, it's stylish for sure but it's basically a family sedan that sits a little higher and would never be able to handle the use you could give the old one.
+Saabkyle04 bro why did you stop doing all the random old cars sitting around the lot they where some of the best everything seems like a commercial Now but do your thing brother
Vikk 54 Oh give me a break. People always act like Kyle has abandoned his viewers. What would the point be in his current format of viewing old cars that are in bad shape? "Oh let me show you a car that is in bad shape because the idiot owner didn't care for it" doesn't make sense. Now older cars that are in mint condition (which he's done plenty of if you care to search) is a different story. He does old cars but it takes time to find mint condition examples. How about this, why don't YOU take the liberty of finding Kyle good old cars to film and arrange for that to be done if you want it so badly?
Thanks Saabkyle I can't get a Range Rover as I have four children plus wife. I'm still disheartened but Content with the Discovery/LR4 thanks for putting me at ease!
Bought a new lr 4 Landmark or Discovery as we call them in the Uk in May 2016 (replaced my Mercedes c class ) which was only a year old . Everything Kyle says is spot on .Love his review all i'll say is i try to find longer routes to my home when i'm in it , or any excuse to get behind the wheel ,awesome piece of kit . 3.0 Diesel , i average around 32 mpg . enough said
My parents gave me this car but needs some fixes such as the sunroof (is shattered, the brakes (make weird sounds, and the Park feature when I drove it for the first time yesterday I felt super comfortable surprisingly and I ain't a fan of Land Rover but this car is old school
For those who keep saying that the interior is dated, some of us want familiarity and not anything too complex that you need a degree in technology to understand.
+Ianna Matney yea they targeted this round of Discovery to soccer moms, wanted to lux & sassy up the interior, but keep it the same too. familiarity weighs heavily on a design team's attraction goals.
This is my favourite Land Rover - I bought my 2016 Disco 4 (LR4) "Landmark" (one of teh last before they went over to the Disco 5, which I don't like) last year with only 34k on the clock and looking brand new, though I have put another 10k on the clock since. I have upgraded most of the fillament bulbs to LED ones - the reversing and fog lights (front and rear) are so much brighter and the reversing lights are like rear headlights so you can really see properly when reversing.
The one good thing about these not being in production anymore is that they're a lot cheaper to buy secondhand. Just from a quick search, I'm finding a lot of them with not many miles that are in very good condition. I'd guess that a lot of them are from the kind of person that model hops every few years.
Ive owned 3 Land rovers, 2 Discos and now the Rangie. Absolutely love the brand. Only thing is the standard rim sizes are too big for serious offroading. 19 inch being the smallest (or 18 inch custom rims)
I don't think Land Rover ever expects anyone to go off road. These cars typically go to the grocery store, the nail salon, and to soccer practice to pick the kids up.
Just bought a 2015 with 38,000miles the other day and it’s perfect! So much better than the new discovery and even the new defender. No bothersome touch screens, everything is where I want it; the back seats are comfortable when compared to the new disco and the back storage is way more than the defender. Did I mention it was half price????
Not sure if you're aware of the fact that Land Rover has a Class Action lawsuit against them for Factory defective Timing Chain Guides. If you're not a Professional Mechanic, plan on shelling out about $8, 000 to have the upgraded Timing Chain Guides swapped out.
Seriously considered the LR4 until I found out it had adjustable air suspension. Have had that type of system fail and leave me stranded with the vehicle sitting flat down. Some air systems have problems operating in very cold climates.
I am and I have always been a fan of Land Rover. Especially from the Discovery 2, to the LR3, and now the LR4. I am planning on buying this vehicle, because of the luxury feel to it, and I think it looks so neet!
+Kit Rocks I have some older cars coming up soon (Chrysler LHS, Honda Civic SI Mugen, etc). Problem is, like with classic cars, it's a niche. I love filming older cars, but the opportunities just aren't there. They have to be of certain quality and condition. The channel has gone toward a new direction that a lot of people enjoy, that's why it's grown the way it has. The trick is balance the type of cars filmed, a much greater variety and price points. It's hard because it's very difficult to please and do it all myself. I'll always try my best though! It's a great problem to have, so many cars to film, just not enough time to do them all.
Hey Kyle, have you ever thought about possibly hiring an editor, giving you more time to film? Seems like then you could get all kinds of cars all the time instead of having all new cars with an older one maybe once a month. Still love the videos!
My mom used to have a range rover everybody thought she was a mom whow wanted it for the school run and a grocery getter but she loved off roading and it went off road more than on road glad it was used properly just a little story my family has owned too many land rovers to count

Nice review on my next Truck to add to the Fleet. The first thing for me to do upon acquisition is to install the newer upgraded Timing Chain Kit. Land Rover has a Class Action Lawsuit against them for Factory defective Timing Chain Guides. The Engine will be ruined if the upgraded Timing Chain Kit is not installed immediately. Its a $8,000 repair at the dealership. For me, I pay zilch for the Labor, because I'm a professional Asian, European, & Domestic Automotive Technician.
I came here after realizing how similar the new Defender is to the LR4. I then looked up prices for 2016s, and I might actually go buy one. $40,000 for 20,000mi down to $30,000 for 90,000mi. Good to know I can buy a low mileage 2016 and drive the hell out of it without losing all that much money on it. I can’t believe I’m saying this about a Land Rover but it might actually be a worth while investment
Hey Saab Kyle. You give some detailed and insightful reviews. I think it's time you up your game and pick up a Saab Kyle polo shirt to wear. That way people start to recognize your branding as you become more and more well known.
Possible Timing Chain and Head Gasket issues. These Land Rovers have an Aluminum Block that warps very easily if the Engine overheats. There is a aftermarket company that specializes in remanufacturing the Engine to make it Bullet proof. The Engine alone cost: $8500.00 It's expensive, but maybe worth the investment.
Not bad, but I prefer the shift column over the twist button... but I guess that's the way vehicles are going to provide more space in the center console for more features.

hello Mr.kyle great video as always. I have a question I have been watching your videos for a couple of years now and am very inspired by what you do and would like to do the same for a living. I wanted to ask how before you used to go to dealerships and review there cars I wanted to ask if you want to review a dealerships car do you just call them up and ask them to review a specific car or do you have to get special permission to review the car. would really appreciate it if you answered this question and helped me out : )
The LR4 IMHO is THE best lux SUV IMHO. You (should) be buying a SUV for practical (storage) reasons and a lot less for performance (e.g. Porsche Cayenne/Mican, Range Rover Supercharged). Love the headroom and virtually straight back door. Rare these days since very one is slanting the back door too far FWD sacrificing storage space (e.g. taller/boxy itms).
Everyone is saying how 'outdated' it looks, but I think it's looks fantastic. Tall, boxy, very uncommon. Everything nowadays is too slick and curvy
yep Ur right , nowadays cars look like dog's food but this car is simple, not much gorgeous but I like it !
Yea but unreliable like most euro cars
They aren't that uncommon. They can be found at any high-end shopping center or hockey arena in the nicer side of town
+James Molyneux Agree!

My mum had an LR3 before her LR4
just bought this exact one over the disco 5 option. They are still quite expensive but iconic and you stand out from all the other curvy SUV's

These aren't 70k.

including destination.
so they will deliver the suv to your house?
+ScArdZombE For what destination fees cost nowadays, you'd think they would LOL.
This car is my dream car
Hey Kyle, you should do some off-road reviews. I would enjoy it and I'm sure many others would too.
I have 2016 late landmark which sears between HSE and HSE lux , nice car wish I have the HSE lux though. In mine the wood door trims go right accross the door . Regards mark
The best looking Land Rover.
hello Mr.kyle great video as always. I have a question I have been watching your videos for a couple of years now and am very inspired by what you do and would like to do the same for a living. I wanted to ask how before you used to go to dealerships and review there cars I wanted to ask if you want to review a dealerships car do you just call them up and ask them to review a specific car or do you have to get special permission to review the car. would really appreciate it if you answered this question and helped me out : )
Hey Kyle. Loved the video. I have a question. Do you think you could review a coupe model of the C7 Corvette Z06 to compare to the convertible?
Any chance at a review for the Land Cruiser or the Lx?
The LR4 IMHO is THE best lux SUV IMHO. You (should) be buying a SUV for practical (storage) reasons and a lot less for performance (e.g. Porsche Cayenne/Mican, Range Rover Supercharged). Love the headroom and virtually straight back door. Rare these days since very one is slanting the back door too far FWD sacrificing storage space (e.g. taller/boxy itms).
Hey Kyle, I just picked up a 2016 Maserati Ghibli S with the Zenga interior, if you're ever in Florida and want to do a review on it, let me know!
You show the things very well. That is a really amazing and luxury sub, that I love very much...
I’m 6 years late but how could you pass by the second sunroof without opening it?! 😖
