After being stuck in descaling mode for a third cycle I spoke with customer service. They said the machine has a sensor to measure how much water flows through in the second half of the cycle (the clean water). If not enough water flow through, the machine will turn off, but it will remain stuck in the descaling mode. The solution is to run the descaling process, but in the second half, fill the water tank to the rim and mid-way through add another cup of water. It worked for me. Note: the first part of the cycle is very slow (an hour??). Obviously this is a bug - I hope this helps others.
I followed the instructions in the video and it worked. The trick is when the descaling solution cycle is finished, the button "shines" aka blinks. When that happens, it's time for the rinse cycle. You fill up the tank with clean water and hit the button. It will run through the whole tank of water then shuts itself off.
In the video, it doesn't blink though! Mine both the Espresso and the Orange light are blinking. Should I start the two rinse cycles? Update: I started the rinse cycle but after the first rinse, the orange button turned off and there is no second rinse cycle request!
I love your manual. I wondered why I didn't like my coffee anymore and after descaling I knew why. :D A small tip: after the descaling, the flat white button doesn't shine. It blinks. People get confused because of this.

I was also stuck in the vicious loop of descaling. There is NOT a reset button in this contraption. I read all the comments. This is a way out (after 6 hours of frustration): 1. While the machine is OFF, place the descaling tap. 2. Do the first step of descaling. 3. When the second step of rinsing is initialized, please, add EXTRA water when the level is reaching half way. Do that a couple of times. The rinsing needs A LOT OF WATER, so that the sensor can send the "end of descaling process" to the main program. It worked for me and now I'm enjoying my coffee😁

This video shows the flat white button illuminating constant when the descaling process is complete. It doesn’t. It flashes. Wasted so much time waiting for it to stop flashing and turn constant, only to later find out from multiple attempts and contacting customer support that it doesn’t do this. The manual also wasn’t much help. It says the flat white button “shines” when descaling is finished. That’s quite vague...

Hey! To anyone having the same issue: light "decalling" still on, or having the decalling notification just after a few weeks of use, make sure once you got your machine you set the water hardness level properly. One month after I got my Gran Lattissima, the decalling light blinked. I contacted Nespresso. It was because I was using very hard water (osmosis system tap). On the manual you have all the steps to set the water hardness level right (1, 2, 3 or 4). Choose level 1 and you'll see how the decalling light disappears. Use bottled water of very weak mineralization!!!! Hope this was helpful. Hola!
We’ve had our marching since Feb 22 and the rescaling light has come on six or seven times. The two times I bought the liquid and descaled. Now I just run it without the expensive liquid and the machine seems to believe that it has been descaled. The light goes off and normal use can follow. Something wrong here.
After sending my machine back three times for repair, I finally discovered through a most helpful Nespresso advisor, that BEFORE you insert the descaling pipe, the machine must be totally OFF power. Once I followed this simple tip life was simple again. They should tell you this though.
I found the completely opposite experience. I needed the machine ON before I inserted the descaling pipe ... Perhaps they've run an update on the interface.

I've spoken to customer service and they said maybe try leaving the machine off for a few hours and try again. My machine is 3 months old... Anyone have any idea how to fix this as Customer service says it'll take 6-8 weeks if I was to send it in for a checkup... Probably the worst customer service I've ever experienced!!

Anyone else tried other descaling solutions besides the nespresso one? My only issue with them is they only sell them with 2x satchets. Would've been nice to buy a 1L bottle and not have to worry about it for a while (I know it says every 6-12 mths, but our descale light is showing in our 2nd month owning it)
Why cant Nespresso just include this tutorial inside their app. Its such a pain in the ass to have to look for this every couple of months when i need to this.
My machine is also new (a few weeks) and the orange descaling light started blinking even though I use pure RO water. My second frothed product always comes out watery... Not too happy with their customer support either. I'll be calling them back.

The machine won't stop the descaling process. I refilled the tank 3 to 4. At the end, the machine shuts down completely.
This is my second time descaling the machine and I had the same problem the same time. I was refilling the tank with water until it stopped.
Is there any official solution from Nespresso to this very critical problem ?

Hola!
I've had this same issue...
I've descaled and now run the rinse over 7 times... the orange light is still flashing orange and not happy...

I had my machine for 4 weeks and the descale light comes on. I only use pure filtered water so there is no chance for scale to build up. Can you turn off the light does anyone know please?

@@nespresso No need! I am just asking i use pure filtered water so no need to descale. correct?
Hi there, we still recommend descaling as this also helps to remove any coffee grounds and oils. Many thanks.
