    As a goodie-two-shoes, terrified of the consequences of being in trouble, this was my one delinquent skill I taught myself. Honestly, i hated being locked up as a child so I learned mostly so I would know how to get myself out.

      I taught myself how to pick a lock because my brother forgot the combo to his suitcase and we had no way to open it, so I just found two paper clips and figured it out

    I'd recommend Bobby pins personally. The fact that they're flatter makes them work better for a tension wrench I find

      If you want an easier way of doing it, you can make the paperclip piece that rotates the lock like in this video and make another paperclip and use pliers to make it into a zigzag. Put the first paperclip into the bottom of the lock, put a little pressure on it to lightly turn the lock, and then push the 'rake' back and forth inside the top of the lock. After a few tries it should open up. There are some youtube videos showing this method if you want a visual

    Bobby pins are a lot better because they're far more sturdy. Just a recommendation.
    Less weird to have some on you compared to paper clips, too.
    The rubber bits on the end of em can be bitten off, and then you can just discard em.

    Beginner kits for picking are cheap online. I'm a fan of ones with rubberized grips for comfort since I use it as an ADHD fidget and will sometimes fidget for hours while watching TV or whatever with my gf

    Or you can use a Bobby pin (hair pin) I’ve done it before but you need to bend it outwards to the pin looks like a ‘V’ and then put the tip of it in the lock

    I recommend using bobby pins because their quite easy too use and I've been able to pick locks with them since I was 6

    It is extremely easy to pick a lock. A tip, use Bobby pins not paper clips.

    Raking works on most simple locks, and you can make a rake out of a clip too, just a bit harder

    There’s a simpler method called the torque and rake. Basically you apply pressure but instead of individually you push up on the rake tool and pull it backwards until you feel the tension give way then you just pop it.

    In high school there was a file cabinet in my english room that no one had any idea what was in it because it got locked a long time ago… i asked the teacher if i could try to get in it and actually picked the lock… it had lesson plans and ungraded assignments from like 2000 and it was 2016 at the time 😂 had literally been locked for 16 years and no one ever messed with it

    I'm really experienced when it comes to lock picking and its pretty easy when you learn to identify and know what to go with security pins. If they have all standard pins its easy to pick.

    On that lock you don't even need to set the pins. Just make a small 90° bend at the end of the straightened paper clip. Stuff the paper clip all the way into the lock as far as it will go and turn. Lock Picking Lawyer has a video on it.

    An easier alternative is “raking” so push the paper clip that you are using to push the pins up all the way back and slide it in your direction do this a few times and the it’ll unlock eventually

    I always picked our classroom lock in elementary when i arrive earlier then my teacher(she always locks the classroom door) so i've gotten pretty good at it, i also always pick my cousin's door when it's lock just to annoy him

    The trick I know is that you use a lighter to melt the end of a toothbrush, and stick it in the lock and let it set. Then you have a perfectly sized key. I have never tried it tho

    I’d recommend using metal from inside a windshield wiper as the anchor and using two paper clips. One with waves in it to loosen the pins and another with just a 90 degree angle at the end to push the pins all the way up. That’s how I do it anyway

    Hey!! My dad is a locksmith and has been for around 3 years now, and did you know they use cards like credit cards to unlock house doors sometimes? I go with him a lot on jobs and it’s really fascinating watching him work.
