I love Havana. It's the place of folks with caring hearts. Many of the crimes were students going into houses and taking food in the summer. I miss Havana Elementary. I wish it had stayed open. It merged with a beautiful middle school. I hope you show the lovely homes also. It is a beautiful place.
Next time.....coming from Tallahassee when you pass lake Jackson on right you turn right on "Old Bainbridge road" (that's the old main highway 27 and at one time 19).......go across river (old abandoned iron bridge to right side....drove across it MANY times) then watch for road turning to right up a hill......that will take you into Havana from "backside".....(the old route)
Hwy 111 is the road that turns off north of town (cuts to right at the "big curve") and it goes up to Calvary and Cairo....about halfway up you would see old Hawthorne Trail cut in from your right ....Hawthorne trail is different from Thigpen Trail (Thigpen Trail is the old military road from the "Indian wars")
Years ago I worked for Mr. Columbus Alexander and his wife at Alexander Furniture.....son Gary and his wife had auto parts store next door.... Drug store across the street were great people (I put their carpet in their mountain cottage for them up in Carolina....great people)....grew up with Ken the son of Joe Ball Ford Motors and lived at their old hunt camp for about 5 years....I have lots of memories of the good people of Havana...was a great place....years later came back when I was a Pro golfer and did a small exhibition at their little golf course....good times....Elvis stayed once at the little motel on the right going north

You didnt say, Georgia at all. Just Havana. My son bought a 4 bedroom 3 bathroom home on 6 acres. His home used to be a tobacco farm. He lives on the outskirts of Havana. He lives in a beautiful area. Lots of history there. Hes in the Navy stationed in, Jacksonville and makes that 4 hour drive once a week. Better that than live in, Jacksonville. I visit, but couldnt live there. Too humid for me. I prefer the mountains. Sierra Nevada, Lake Tahoe. Beautiful video. I love older homes.

My good friends the Swishers had a lot of ties around this area..... did you ever hear of Swisher Sweet Cigars ???? ..... I grew up and lost track of the boys.....I think one of them lives down in Tally but haven't seen him for about 5 years or so
OMG, I was shocked to see in your video that Alexander Furniture and Gary's Auto Parts BUILDING was GONE....nothing there now....geeez... it was between police station and bank (white building on corner)....shocked.... I think subway was a convenience store before
Made a quick phone call .....Hoke Swisher passed away in 2011 (nice guy....loved old cars and stuff.....years since I saw him because I went to Colorado) ..... funeral was there in Havana at FaithFuneralHome (same as my younger brother Fred) but buried in Concord cemetary.....they told me other brother still alive.... maybe I'll be able to call him (your video spurred lots of memories he and I could chat about....thanks).....anyway Swisher Sweets heir with Havana history for you

Hurricane michael tore that building up beyond repair so they tore it down a few years ago
