Im 43 years old, been living in Tallapoosa my whole life. I love it. I live right in the middle of town. My house was built in 1887. Its pretty cool. Dang, yall didn't drive down the nice side. (Other side of the tracks) where i live. Yall shouldve, Oh well.

That southwestern sector of GA is where the majority of counties are experiencing an ongoing minus population decline, with the exception of several ie Lowndes county, Tift, Decatur county etc. However the whole mid to top half of GA is in light green to dark green from west central to the majority of east central and all the way to the tri state Tenn, NC, SC borders. Some middle GA counties are in green but a select few, and a select few counties in the tail south end of 75 approaching FL. The whole coastal area counties are in the green though. Counties are literally their own country, everyone for themselves and it’s either adapt, compete, swim or sink.

I don’t recommend anybody move to Fitzgerald. There IS NOT ALOT going on there 🤣

The Court House burned to the ground about 10 years ago and was reconstructed. The corrupt powers that be are intent on keeping this community down, but they will be pushed out as educated people with more wealth are beginning to move in. There is no "right" to vote, it is a privilege.

I'm from Fitzgerald don't go by the court house there's a lot of stuff going on. Not safe I had 3 business on pine Street on the other side of the firehouse. I left 3 years ago black cloud and a lot of unsolved mysteries

I drove thru Jonestown on a Sunday around noon in Jan of 2011. There was a snow cover on the ground but it was sunny and melting. People were out walking around and everyone we passed waved and smiled. I always wondered where the jobs were as it is rather remote.

Nah, chief. I just left Cordele a few weeks ago and have been goin' there since the 70s visiting relatives. There are some projects in Cordele, but no 'hoods. I did notice, when I was recently there, the town has a heap of homes that are old, abandoned or in a state of disrepair. Some are even uninhabitable. But it's not the type of town to have 'hoods. #Poverty? Yes. In fact, the brick home on the left ( @ 12:00) was my aunt & uncle's house at 810 13th Street South built in 1971. He was a brick mason and built many structures in Cordele.

So glad to visited my town of Menlo. I moved here from Atlanta 8 years ago and live just NW of Menlo on the mountain. I appreciate you taking the time to spend some time here. I thought I would share some info on the area. (1) Where you first stopped in town at 2:16 (behind the logging trailer) is the path of the old train teach that once connected Menlo to Chattanooga and Birmingham. In the late 1800’s Peaches were transported via steam engine. (2) The A.J. Lawrence is still here and occupied today. It’s located a little further down Edison Street from where you turned at 11:10. (3) The large plant once was Best Manufacturing. A local glove manufacturer. The company was later purchased by a Japanese-owned company and the plant was closed. The US headquarters for this company is still in Menlo. (4) The concrete slab seen at the stop sign at 14:23 was once the train depot. As others has stated, most of the businesses are still operating along with all the churches. The Menlo Cafe is located next to the gas station. I wish you would have had time to talk to some of the locals. They are the nicest people I have ever met. I love living here and I am very happy to be a part of this community. Come back again soon.

I got married here on October 26,2024 ! One of the best days of my life ! Hiawassee was stunning with the fall colors , the morning of the wedding . You can see the fog of the lake! I LOVE being in Hiawassee, feels like time stops

Thank you for sharing. My mother was born and raised in Camphill Alabama. Always a small town as I can remember as a child is going to Camp Hill to visit the great aunts. But not totally desolated the way it appears now in the downtown area.
