I really appreciate you posting this video on how the adaptive cruise works in the GR Corolla. My GR Corolla Circuit finally arrived and I tried to figure out all this crap out but got bored and couldn't be bothered anymore. I did experiment with the adaptive cruise control but it did not want to hold Lane center even on large sweepers. I'm guessing I was in "lane tracing" mode. To be honest with you, I think the best system out there has to be Hyundai/Kias. They are easy to figure out and Rock solid in their even up past triple digit speeds. That system is even available in the Hyundai Elantra, a $20,000 car.
As the the GR Corolla, I just wanted Toyota to build a pure driver's car, not something that's constantly bonging and chiming at me. As you know, this GR is constantly throwing pop-ups on the screens waring of objects outside your door, or that the car will turn itself off after 1 hour of idling, or that the front hood is open. (I know it's open, I'm trickle charging the battery!). Please GR Corolla, just focus on being the best drivers car you can be. I'd happily give up the digital screens and all the blinky lights for a lighter, more streamlined experience. But that is not what the modern buyer wants. So I'm grateful you posted this so I could better navigate the seemingly endless swamp on driver "assistance".

I agree with you....I'd love to see a more analog driving experience (with a more analog price too).

@@Springtailsolutions Yea, the battle cry "$50k for a Corolla!!?" is sprinkled all over the internet but in reality, the GR Corolla is one of the biggest bargains in recent memory. Did you know the cost of the forged carbon roof panel used on the Circuit and Morizo Editions costs $20,000 through Toyota parts department? Did you know that roof panel is a direct descendant of the almighty Lexus LFA program? Did you know that the people that build the GR Yaris and GR Corolla are referred to as "Takumi" or masters and that they are required to have over 60,000 hours with Toyota assembly lines before graduating to the Motomachi plant where the GR twins are built? It is a remarkable thing to buy a new, largely handmade car for only $50,000. Heck, Ferrari has upgrades listed on their options list that are $50,000! And while the GR Corolla isn't as hand built as the Yaris, it is still much more of a specialty constructed vehicle then 99% of the stuff out there making it one of the great bargains. Example: I just purchased a 97' Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution, one of just 87 ever produced in red. This vehicle was built by hand, by Mitsubishi, to go win the Paris-Dakar race which it did outright in 1998. These rare vehicles have suddenly skyrocketed in value as collectors have realized how special they are and what they represent historically. The GR Yaris, and by extension, the GR Corolla, are likely to follow suit. The Yaris is a true Homologation special (which just won last weeks Japan WRC event) and I do believe the Corolla will ride the coattails of the GR Yaris WRC successes and end up being a sought after collectible.

Damn you! I didn't know that the Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution existed....now I must have one! Maybe you will let me film yours some day for my "less than perfect vehicles that we love" series.

@@Springtailsolutions Yea, once I learned of the Pajero Evo (about 15 years ago) it was on my very short list of cars I wanted to own in my lifetime. (The other is my 83' Renault R5 Turbo 2 which you can check out on UA-cam if you search for "Nicole Johnson Detour Renault") But that points to just how special the GR Corolla is. Today's car manufacturers simply do not make homologation cars designed for a specific race discipline. That is until Toyota did so with the GR Yaris and by extension, the GR Corolla. This thing is really special. I'll check out your other videos.... I really appreciated this video as there isn't enough "how too" vids out there on the GR Corolla's driver interface and electronic/menu/sub menu operation. (Maybe you should do more?)

AND A RENAULT R5!! You have good taste my friend, both in cars and UA-cam presenters…I’m a fan of Detour and had already seen your cars presentation. Obviously, Nicole knocks it out of the park in every realm of production aspects whereas my videos are primarily based on my juvenile love for both cars, video and exploring new things (things like video and sound quality comes pretty much 4th…😜, but I’m getting better).
I will work on some more videos for you…once the snow flies here, I’ll be stuck inside staring at a display anyways.
What else are you hiding in your garage???

Wenn ich mit 70 im Kreis fahre muss ich bremsen bis 59 km und ich kann nicht mehr die 70/100 hochfahren das Auto bremst mich immer! Ist das eine extra Sicherheit?
