season 4 was sooo bad and was just soooo wrong😭😭 i loved luther and diego this season cause i had a blast with them and of course klaus is always fun even allison was good this season (much better than s3) and viktor had one of the only good arcs of all the characters. five and lila were the low low low points of the season which is so weird for this show cause especially five has usually been the best character every season…. the best season was definitely season 2 though!
It was great the see them all again, and I LOVED the last episode, bitter sweet. Hollywood can't write anything good at the moment. Woke, politics, inserting yourself in the movies, representation, writers wanting to be lead writers NOW, all workers infected with DEI and ESG (cameraman, directors, stunts, actors, ALL TRADES have been infected and competency rooted out of production to follow DEI rules and mark checkboxes) I particularly hated how men where naked and VERY DUMB. Hargave = dumb as whole, moon monkey = naked and dumb, knife man = hyper dumb and cocked, teleport boy = naïve and dumb, while women where intelligent, strong, solid, and better then men. Even if it was a BAD season, it's the best hollywood can give at the moment and it was bitter sweet to see them one last time. God I love the first two seasons when men AND women where equal.
Diego being called fat the whole season, despite him never really seeming all that fat ever. Was there not enough budget for a fat suit/prosthetics to really sell it?
Yes exactly, I was saying the same thing when I watched this season. It’s like the writers don’t know their own show lore or history, it was really dumb.
I hate how the writers ruined Five's character. I personally think it would be better if what split the timeline instead of the whole family, just be Five's initial jump to 2019. This results in Five having to be the one to die to stop the loops of apocalypses allowing the others to live and Five to truly have peace and have a heroic sacrifice.
Five was never going to sacrifice himself though, he genuinely doesn't care enough to die for other people all that much. But I definitely understand the issues with the season tbh, it just felt severely rushed
I’m expected to believe Allison spent the entire series getting her daughter and husband back all for her husband to leave her and her daughter mostly babysat by Klaus and Allison leaving her daughter permanently so she can turn into a flower?!
I do like how the marigold supercharged their powers. It makes sense considering their original powers were just from one grain of marigold. In this season, they each drank quite a bit of marigold
Fr I’m not even gonna bother watching the 4th season after the 3rd season made Viktor apologize and to Allison. LIKE WHAT?! She killed her girlfriend’s child cause she was mad and then her “apology” was just a ploy to go save the world again so she can get her daughter back. Not to mention sexually assaulting Luther as soon as found love.
I have a lot of complaints about the finale, but my biggest gripe was that Luther turned back into a big ape man when he got his powers back. It made absolutely no sense whatsoever in this timeline.

I didn't mind them never existing as they were Reggies biggest "mistake" and the Cleanse served as a reset. Tho I understand the feeling of wanting them with their happy ending. Like Ray and Allison not being together was so off; Klaus relapsing at the end and the sparrows not being around or at least Luther's wife.
The way I cannot believe they made him sober and reformed with Ben being the crazy one and instead of giving Klaus his Viktor redemption arc where he takes charge and fights to help Ben, they really just shot him, gave his powers back, just had him turn back into old Klaus for no reason and do literally nothing relevant to the plot and then die... Anyone involved in writing this season should be ashamed.
I literally grew up with TUA and was so excited for this season. It was a letdown, I was so ready to see the siblings be hunted down for being in a timeline they weren't supposed to be. Because that's what the trailers made it look like. The relationship between Lila and Five always seemed like a frienemies, the love relationship felt like seeing 2 siblings kiss. Ben could've had so much potential. And when they got their powers back we barely ever get a run down of what's new
They could've had the siblings survive to end up in one original timeline where they were all living their best lives but not knowing each other at all. I would've preferred something bittersweet like that. Marigolds under a damn tree??? Really??? That ending was GARBAGE!

Was it just the Hargreeves that got nuked out of existence because they got absorbed by The Cleansing (as nonsensical as that is) or, if we're going to be consistent with saving the family and Claire, presumably literally everyone in every alternate timeline was annihilated? If not and they just get reassimilated into the main timeline, then why waste time hustling them onto the train in the first place? If that's the case though, then why wouldn't the Hargreeves' alternate selves that *didn't* get absorbed show up anyway? What a damn mess.
@@ryanashfyre464ik it’s messy af and needs explanation but pretty sure since they were on train they were outside of time and since they don’t have marigold in them it won’t affect the universe and since the academy fixed the timelines the only timeline for them to get off at is the new main one therefore there the only people that will remember the umbrella acedemy - at least that’s what the creator said (something along those lines)

If the whole shtick is that the UA is wiping themselves from existence and making it so that it was like they were never born to begin with - what *possible*" rationale could there be for Claire and Diego and Lila's kids to be alive? Their parents never existed now, so their existence is an anomaly WAY outside the scope of anything the UA itself ever achieved (which, ironically, is more of a justification for The Cleansing than anything else we get in S4). This is the problem w/ adding a multiversal narrative to an already complex time travel story. It just spiraled out of control into pure incoherence.
This was by far the worst season. Shame it was the last. They didn't do anything with the Sparrows, not a thing. I have nothing good to say about it. It was so underwhelming.
Nope. The show was cancelled kinda. Do to the reception of season 3, Netflix cancelled the show but they were still given a chance. The show was supposed to have 7 seasons but since it was cancelled, season 4 was just wrapping the whole story which also explains why sloane and the other Ben were cut out of the story. Really unfortunate. Another reason to hate Netflix.
The sad thing abt the love triangle part, is that , I don't recall Five ever apologizing to Diego at the END. And now that they just dislike each other at the end, where five doesn't even says sorry is sad to me. And the fact the there were so many plot holes and the information that we've gotten. It felt so rushed and I really dislike that Five and Lila kissed.
The whole subway train that travels through timelines didn’t have a lot to add to the story, other than making Lila and Five fall in love, which was obviously one of the worst decisions made in this season and very unnecesary. The only other time when this was useful, was when Five went to the café where all the other Fives explained to him what was the actual conflict. That was it.
Apparently its the same Ben but we just see him at the start of his crypto scamming journey. And the train was to foreshadow the timeline train in season 4. Kinda disappointing

Nope both were completely out of character. Klaus completely regressed as a character, Reginald did absolutely nothing and had no big plan, Luther was even more of an idiot. Ben snd Jennifer was just awful. Diego was fine I guess. Victor was stupid but ok. Shockingly Allison was the best in the whole season. This season is one of the worst final seasons of tv of all time.
It was shit. The obvious ending was Viktor sucking out the M' from everyone and drawing the creature away, making the ultimate sacrifice and proving Father wrong, becomibg the mist important member of the team.
I binged the first season in under two days that's how much I loved it. This season didn't even feel like it was the same show AT ALL. Every character's personality, the dialogue, the humor, the music, the emotional weight, a cohesive plot. It was GONE. The first episode was so terrible I was in shock.
So much potential from the buildup from season 3 for example: - Reginald as the final boss - maybe switch the Powers - solving different timelines problems as an actually Team, or even explore it to collect all the powerjuice from every Academy like the pheonix academy to earn the ending we got. etc. honestly pretty bad ending, fun scenes in the season but totally rushed.
While Five’s character was done the worst, Ben was also insufferable to me this season. He literally caused everything this season. Too stubborn to stay away from Jennifer for 5 minutes to listen and figure something out. Not to mention he was the one to give the Umbrella crew the Marigold against their will in the 1st place. They were just fine without powers living normal lives. But instead they were erased from existence all because of Ben.
I wouldn’t say it was random. There was definitely a build up to it, with Lila growing resentful towards Diego and her and Five spending so much time together. I would say it was inevitable. But nonetheless Diego deserved better

The scene when they exposed us the number of time that the team tried to save the world from apocalypse makes me wondering "what's the point of all of that then ?"
That feeling of the never ending cycle was honestly imo consistent and explains why the apocalypse follows then. They could've explained The Clense better since at the end it's kinda just thrown out there that Reggies wife is correcting the timeline since she shouldn't have been brought back or was correcting his biggest error which was creating the super powered kids to do the whole new universe thing.
The whole Five and Lila storyline just felt iffy and to end with Diego and Five figting over her was disappointing. I also wished they stayed together more because they always split up and do their own thing.
I mean Season 3 wasn't *that* bad. It didn't hit the heights of S1 & 2, no doubt, but I'd have been perfectly fine w/ the open-ended ending it gave us. Better that than... whatever the f**k this is.
I liked season 3 apart from some pacing issues, but the first 2 were definitely better. It wasn’t as great but I still thought season 3 was good, and worth my time. I wasn’t necessarily unsatisfied but I wasn’t touched like I was in the first two seasons. As for season 4…I was unsatisfied, disappointed, and upset for reasons show creators wouldn’t want their viewers to be upset with.
There are hundreds of problems with S4. What I hated the most was how Five betrayed his own brother, Diego, and that they died hating each other. Also, what’s up with Lila not liking bracelets? She used the one Diego made in the psychiatric hospital. God, how horrible.
Something no one seems to mention is the fact that Luther shouldn’t have got back his ape body back. I think the writers completely forgot that his original body was human and he still had super strength but his body got damaged on a mission so he has his body swapped with a space alien ape thing. A complete seperate thing that has nothing to do with his powers. 😂
my biggest gripe, aside from the obvious, is the fact their powers simply do not make sense or follow previously established (or even new) rules, and what powers do have set rules are vastly underutilised - I thought it was so so obvious that Five was gonna use his new interdimensional train to stick Ben and Jessica in different universes without the other particle thingy so that they couldn't come into contact. like... bruh. theres no way their powers were used effectively here. Also. What's up with Allison's powers? She can control minds but also she has telekinesis now becuase... why not? also Lila's laser eyes made no sense and were not used at all. Also who gets the same powers who doesn't? Klaus does... what exactly? not even just with his powers but what's the relevance of his plot pointsin the overall grand scheme? I'm also mad that there's this sort of implicit message in the end where it's all like "so. you know these kids who were neglected and abused? yeah turns out this was all their fault for existing and the only way for things to be right is for them to kill themselves" which is a bit... icky. there's so many ways they could have handled it to have the same outcome in the end but man. this was not it. I did love stripper luther , luther and diego's brolationship and the diner scene with five, but that's about it.
Diego and Luther hanging out, just being bros, was honestly one of the few highlights for me as well. Especially seeing the growth from Diego feeling jealous of Luther being leader. Though the show seems to forget this and instead portray Diego as eager to follow even as a teen. When I seemed to recall him being competitive and more so would’ve been volunteering to get everyone ready and hurt when shot down that that isn’t his position. Idk it’s a highlight but as I typed they kind of ruined it.
@@hernandez4856I know, but it's the way the changes are so inconsistent - why keep klaus borderline the same but change alison's so different? why not have them all go on the fritz, or have one consistent superpower adjacent to their old one? It feels lazy to me.
thats exactly what i thought about when i saw the kids were alive. especially since we went over the grandfather paradox last season. it didnt make sense to me.
When that narration saying "It was an ordinary day" played I was just sitting like "Didn't this break the timeline again?" If the train sent their families to before they were supposed to be born and they were never born, that should break time just like their births did. Not to mention what about all the other super powered kids?

There are all the other kids with marigold, and Reginald still existed then so it's weird that them getting absorbed somehow erased all marigold that should still exist before they were born, and if they can't exist then their kids should have the same effect as them still being alive. It doesn't make sense for that not to break time too, and come to think of it, isn't that kind of what happened with the Kugelblitz in season 3, like the paradox of their moms dying caused that apocalypse but here it's just fine. Too much of this season was like that, like if you think about it your brain hurts trying to make it make sense.
Characters did feel stagnant or regressive in some cases. Klause contemplating mortality and having that fear would of been cool to explore but no let him go back to drugs and being a conman

Five needs to be driving the plot forward. When he is sidelined, season 3 and 4, everything unravels. I did like that the technology was current once the timeline was cleansed, no longer stuck in the 80's. My remaining questions..What happened to the other kids that were born that day? Why did Ben not tell Klaus his dad shot him when he was a ghost? Why did the timeline reset and Reginald have no memories where the others did? Why was the girl in a squid? Why didn't the wife give Jennifer the Marigold, instead of having the others ingest it again? What did happen to Sloane?

First of all-hated what they did to Five. Fine, have the weird subplot that makes no sense, but then as they were literally all dying, Five didn't even apologize to Diego, his brother!! Character assassination at its finest.
People only mad at the ending snd five with lila, I don't get it, those weren't the worst parts, why is no one mad at how they massacred luthers whole story, lost sloane for what feels like no reason, has no one important in his life, and squats in an abandoned house, yet he's still like some goofy comical character, I get he has been comical for every other season, his characters supposed to oppose the ideology of what a number 1 should be, you'd think he'd be strong smart and a good leader but he infact is none, and makes bad decisions, I feel like in season 4 THE FINAL SEASON, they could've redeemed him a little instead of just having him follow around Diego like his sidekick the whole season
I actually really prefer Luther being a comic relief character. I think that since season 2, he's realised that he let his father control him too much and in season 3 and 4 he no longer has to be number 1, and can just be his goofy self. I agree that he was too immature at times, like at the antique store, but overall I prefer him now than in s1
Thank you! It felt like the writers were torturing him, it was actually very frustrating to watch. He loses his wife (which is never resolved), he’s a stripper that performs in a costume of what he used to be, he’s squatting in the condemned ruins of his childhood home which is a manifestation of his wasted potential and inability to move on, hes forced back into the body he hated himself for despite it making no sense for him to get the gorilla body back from the marigold, he’s treated as the butt of the joke and a fuckup the entire season, and when he tries to have a heartfelt moment with his family before he dies they just shit all over him. It wasn’t fun to watch, it was painful and just made me feel terrible for the guy. Not once is he given a chance to prove himself as the leader he could’ve been and one of the only scenes we see of him being competent in happens in an elevator off screen lol
I mean from what I’ve read people hated all of that. I know I did. I don’t think there was a single thing I liked or that was handled well this season. Everything that was built up in the first 3 seasons was thrown away. All the characters were butchered. Five went from being the best character to just awful. It wad a mess. All of it. And god, yes, I hated the romance between Lila and Five the most. It made me uncomfortable.
So many questions!! Where was Sloane? Why was Jennifer found in a squid? Weren't there like WAY more children born from hargrieves actions so Why were only the core 7 + Lila required as a sacrifice to reset the timeline and not every single one of them.
The last one makes sense actually: the core 7+Lila only had to let themselves get taken, so the other ones got taken as well, they just didn't know it was a sacrifice they had to make I disliked that season too and could add more questions, but this was one of the few things that worked
I think in this timeline there was no other marigold beyond what the group found and was presumably a relic from another timeline that Ben then spiked them with so there wouldn't have been others that needed to destroyed along with the main ground, they didn't exist in this timeline. But then this creates a plothole of where the hell Lailas parents came from and why didn't any of others have parents?
Overall I liked the season. I would have changed the ending though. Instead of them non-existing, have them be born at different times without the marigold and have them eventually find each other. Like Luther and Allison are now married and have a daughter named Claire. Have 5 meet a girl named Delores, who happens to be the daughter of the Handler and sister to Lila, who marries Diego. Let Viktor be a star violinist like he always wanted who's best friends with Ben and Jennifer.
Cobra Kai season 4 is goofier but the family aspect is still pretty good, them moving forward is handled decently, but yes it's even goofier than previous seasons and they are absolutely running out of cameos from the past.
I think people and reviewers are failing to understand that although with this season’s many plot holes and lack of character development it ultimately due to Netflix not allowing the show runners to not have their usual 10 episodes and only giving us 6. Im grateful Netflix didn’t just cancel the series and gave us some kind of ending/resolution at least but I think it was a huge miss on their part not allowing them to flesh out this season like the previous 3 😢
@ItsLucasLazer season 3 was absolute dog water and I was obsessed with the first 2 seasons. I don't think I'm even going to watch season 4. Netflix dropping the ball yet again
@@MajorasThoughts hot take: season 2 was mid as hell, the first episode was peak and I loved the cult stuff and the 60s vibe but it was just really slow in the middle, season 3 was really good with the return of the autistic kid and the fights between the umbrellas and the sparrows and it was so cool seeing how different they are from each other and the ending where the universe was destroyed except for the hotel and the wedding and the murder mystery stuff was so peak so my ranking for the seasons are 1. Season 1 2. Season 3 3. Season 2 4. Season 4

@@hernandez4856 Reginald built the The Obsidian, not The Oblivion. How Reginald even knew what was behind the portal is never even explained either. He just wanders into a field, fires a flare 4 stories into the air, hits something and figures "I'll build a hotel here". Was the Oblivion always behind the portal? Did it materialise by itself as the Obsidian was being built by Hargreaves?
Omg yes I thought this too, why didn’t they bring Pogo back!? Atleast of some version of himself or in the first timeline as a free chimp or something idk he was so important in first two seasons and then he wasn’t even there anymore.
my biggest question is when they got there powers back from a marigold why did Luther become a monkey man again? that was not part of his powers that was from Hargreaves saving his life
One thing that really pissed me off was Allison in episode 3 saying that 'she was tired of being the villain in this family' and none of the family telling her that what she did was fucked up. After all the awful shit Allison did in season 3 like killing Harlan, assaulting/SA'ing Luther and just how awfull she was being in general, it pisses me off so much that Allison acts like she's being treated as a villain for no reason. There was not even an one on one scene with Luther and Allison where she apologises for what she did or even one scene where Allison feels bad for her actions from season 3. She just acts entitled and arrogant still. Like Allison got everything she ever wanted (both Ray and Claire), while her siblings lost a lot (Viktor lost Harlan twice, Luther lost Sloanne, Ben lost the entire Sparrow family, Diego and Lila lost Stan). The only thing we got was Viktor telling Allison they're not friends, but even that went nowhere. I feel like the timeskip fucked any character development and scenes that could have happened as a result of Alison's decisions. It's like the whole family just forgave her off screen or something. I also feel like the Ben and Jennifer incident was also a plothole maybe. We know that Klaus used to talk with the original Ben after he passed. Did Ben never talk about the fact that their own dad killed him? Like I get that the other characters had their memories messed with, but Ben should have still been able to tell klaus what happened to him. Even if Ben didn't know that it was their dad that shot him, he should still remember he suddenly died after saving Jennifer right? I can believe Klaus forgetting, but still.

@@Vivy-f1t Klaus, other then five and victor, has definitely gone through the most and was also pretty abused by Reggie. He was one of the characters who despite his issues, was actually usually caring towards his family. Why they couldn’t just create a new timeline like they did last season is beyond me, especially if Reggie was capable of controlling them. They couldn’t just…delete other ones or find a way to end those ones and create a timeline where everyone got what they deserved? Klaus got Dave, the sparrows and other kids born from marigold got their own happy lives, Diego and Lila got their family including Stan, past characters got their happy ending, Five got a real Delores, umbrella Ben was back (because let’s be real, sparrow Ben SUCKED), and Allison could’ve sacrificed herself for this as a character arc for all the terrible crap she’d done…

I hated season 6 of lucifer. Rory really ruined it for me, they never should've introduced her. The final moment with lucifer and chloe was nice though

At first i liked the season after bingewatching it. But i had so many complaints that i just pushed aside because i was just excited to have a new season. Having 6 episodes really made this feel rushed, so many things could have been explored but we were robbed
Given the fact that the one-armed Five at the end of season 3 is clearly the Five that founded the commission, I think that we can say that the original Umbrellas died in Hotel Oblivion (apart from Five that somehow jumped away) and this is just a weird spinoff about different characters created with the same memories. I'll do so.

They just really handcuffed his character this season by having him be terrified by his mortality and then being a literal ghost sex slave for so much of the season. Klaus was so far from the plot for most of the season that I don't think his character could tell you what happened by the end of it.
@@kyubi_9405 I think they also wrote themselves into a corner because they couldn't really have Luther be the one living in Allison's basement without continuing the whole toxic thing they have going on and spitting on the Sloan story line (which they did anyway by barely mentioning it). So they had to have Luther pick Ben up from jail which clearly should have been Klaus to anyone who watched the first 3 seasons. And then to cover for it, they had to make up some junk about how "Klaus always relies on Allison and Allison loves it because she gets to feel like a hero for being there at his rock bottom." But that never really happened. Other than a bit in season 2, they really didn't even interact much. I think they swapped Klaus and Luther really late in the writing process and couldn't quite write it to make sense.

Season 4 truly screwed up the characters..Luke should have had a good character development by finding some resolution to Solan but he stayed being a side character through the season, Klaus had character regression, the only one who had character development/ closure was Victor. He was the only one. I hate what they did to five, Lila, the whole love triangle was pointless, seriously it ruined the 3 characters. Agree. The first four episodes were normal. But in the fifth episode, everything was ruined. This is not our Fifth One, whom we have fallen in love with.... This is a completely different person...💔💔💔💔 Let's compare the Fifth of the first three seasons and the Fifth in the fourth season: 1 Season: He lived in the apocalypse for 45 years and tried to survive in order to return and save his family. 2 Season: He cut down a whole group of people, although he didn't want to, but he had to, he was almost killed himself. And it's all for the family. 3 Season: He was still doing it for the family. There he did not want to stop the apocalypse, because he from the future told him so and the Fifth had to make this decision. This season, he told Laila to stop torturing Diego, because he loves her very much. Conclusion: The fifth, simply put, risked his life for the sake of his family and never gave up, even if it was difficult. He always tried to find a solution. ❤ And what we get in season 4: In episode 5, He just didn't give a damn about the family, decided to leave them, knowing what kind of situation would happen soon. He knows that Laila is his brother's wife and the mother of his nephews kisses her. Then she gets upset that Laila loves Diego. The fact that he spent 7 years with her in another timeline is not an excuse for what he did! He shouldn't have done it at all! He had to motivate Laila by the fact that a loving husband and children were waiting for her at home. He would never allow himself to kiss Lila, thereby hurting his brother. That's what that Fifth One would have done.....💔 For me, in Episode 5, the Fifth is a completely different person from a different timeline. And the real Five was able to find a way out, he and Lila didn't have any kisses, and they saved the world with the whole family. I don't want to just believe that our beloved boy was spoiled like that.💔💔💔💔
WHY DID THEY END LAST SEASON SHOWING A SECOND BEN ON A TRAIN IN KOREA, AS IF ALL OF THE NON-BRELLIES WERE ALIVE W THEIR REGULAR FAMILIES IN THE RESET (after s3) UNIVERSE? What was the reason?! Also, did all the magic nonbrellies get erased too? Cause there were like 20 more affected by marigold. Seems insane to decide as a group of 8 to permanently erase 20-some people from the life canon lol. Ugh. The thing about season three is that that was the Covid season. So when you consider that they had to stay basically on one small set and make a whole show… It’s kind of impressive that they were able to make it interesting and still pretty good. This year they had no excuse and no reason why it couldn’t be as good as season one and two. The thing about five that annoys me is that it’s like they simply realized he was 65 and never had a love interest and wanted to give him one. Meanwhile, all those years he was working for the commission… They could’ve added in a real person he dated but never mentioned. I don’t get why they didn’t. It’s funny because it didn’t even annoy me that it was with Lila because it’s not unbelievable that if you thought you were never going to see anyone else again you might convince yourself you were romantically interested just to get through the day like she said survival… but it didn’t affect the plot and it was only for two episodes… So it very much felt like they were trying to get us to not care about people in a mostly happy relationship dying (Diego and Lila). Funny thing is I don’t think that’s what they were doing… I think they literally just wanted him to have a love interest. And I don’t get why if that was the only goal they didn’t just write in a character for a couple of episodes that he has a little quick relationship with. They could’ve even had it affect the plot somewhere like maybe she turns on them or something and Five realizes he’s never been in a relationship because it makes you not think clearly or something like that… That would be very five like. Just so annoying to have something that major that literally could be plucked from the plot and wouldn’t change a single thing in the main overall story. You destroyed fives character and broke up a good couple for what? A few kissing scenes? I really don’t get it
For me the greatest mistake it's that the season it's just six episodes. It restricted the growth of the characters and the depth of knowing them and why they are doing what they are doing. I also don't like a lot of loose ends of some topics.
Let's accept the fact that Fifth and Lyle didn't have a "relationship" for long anyway. They weren't even supposed to happen. Laila still wanted to go back to her family deep down, and she wasn't serious about the Fifth One. I think it was because they were around or a sense of affection.I am sure that the Fifth himself understood that he had done a bad thing when he kissed his brother's wife. At the end of the final episode, the Fifth and Laila decided to just stay friends, because she loves Diego anyway, which was proved when they joined hands. And when she held hands with Five, she most likely did it so that he would not feel lonely. I am very offended that my boy, who never gave up, took dangerous risks, did everything to save his family, was turned into a man who took his brother's wife, just gave up and spat on his family..... 💔 Of course, I understand that he and Lila spent seven whole years in another timeline, but this is not a reason to give up and take his brother's wife away.... The fifth of the three previous seasons, on the contrary, would have been looking for a way out, would have motivated Laila by the fact that a loving husband and children were waiting for her at home. I also understand that he and Lila have been alone for seven whole years, but still that's not a reason. Five of Series 5 is a completely different person from another timeline, and the real Five would never steal his wife from his brother. Don't you think so too?
What we learn this season is the characters of umbrella academy wasn’t dysfunctional. It was truly the writers…. I feel like pushing the season timeline six years into the future was a scapegoat. For the writers not to address important, storylines as a whole. And it makes me feel like they don’t take characters like Diego or Luther seriously as characters. Lila and Allison became almost a crutch from the the ending episodes of season 3 to the entirety of season four for me.
It's a crime not to mention that this was also the most grotesque season ever. We saw way too many intestines. Allison nuked that guys balls. People were being dismemberment and disemboweled left and right. It was disgusting. We got bits of that in past seasons, but nothing like this.
Wasn't crazy about season 1. Then watched season 2 and enjoyed it so I went back and watched 1 again. Then three came out. I really wasn't impressed. I felt that the sparrow academy was just cannon fodder. It had some good scenes but I felt like it betrayed a few characters. Luther who was so in love with Allyson in season one and two now meets a new girl and marries her ib about a weeks time. Was he really that in love with being "in Love' and the character of Allison. She went over to the dark side. Now the fourth season was awful, disappointing and a waste of my time and effort. They had all the characters separated too much in my opinion. With only 6 episodes they should have had more whole family scenes. Then we have a 6 year time jump so we get no answers about anything. Diego and Lila now have three kids-we see one who is 7 but they only mention the twins in passing and we never see them. Ben is in prison....where did the boy from the train go? I always believed that Five respected Lila but having them have an affair? I know it was six years but are we saying a male and female cannot be together for years and just be friends. This also makes me have less respect for 5-sleeping with his brothers wife. So much for family above all else. Same for Lila. It gave me the willies. Then everyone dying at the end. Isn't there more marigold kids? Did the monster just die when the ben/jen monster ate everyone? What happens to Reginald and his wife. They just get eaten too. So bad and I have had it on my calendar for over a week. I wish I hadn't watched it or it had ended after the third season.
This season was so disappointing, especially for a finale. Where was Sloane and Ray? They never gave us ANYTHING on them, and they were mentioned only briefly in the story. Also five and lila were just so icky..
Netflix intern: "Should we put all our best effort and money into making a great finale to one of our highest profile shows? Show that we care about our shows and the fans that watch them?" Netflix exec: "Why? We already have their money for this month. This is the end. Nobody is going to stay subscribed to Netflix for more Umbrella Academy. The less money we spend, the better" I guarantee you, this exact exchange actually happened at Netflix.
Honestly, the fact that we now know that timelines can be erased and multipled etc. did take away some of the impact of that ending for me. Because them sacrifising themselves at the end is just what happens in one timeline. Also, this is a group of people who grew up extraordinary with training that would definetly qualify them to hunt down and stop apocalypses from happening in every timeline. All of them hated being ordinary and living ordinary lives. So why not just have them accept their fate and keep jumping timelines so that every time they set off an apocalypse their mission would, in every timeline, be to find out how to stop it?
While there was some things I liked in this season, overall I was very disappointed. I didn’t have nearly as much fun or interest in this season nothing hooked me in at all. Even though season 3 wasn’t the best it still was a fun season for me and I enjoyed it for what it was but this season wasn’t it for me. It was rushed (only 6 episode? Really?) some storylines I hated, just overall I wasn’t impressed, and this means a lot coming from someone who rarely ever doesn’t like shows/movies.
In the café with all the Five’s, it shouldn’t have been them searching for a way to end things and one Five exposition dumping to our main that it is hopeless. OG Five should have looked around him and see all those Five’s trying to stop their own apocalypses, just like he is doing, only then realising what the Commission Five ment with ‘Don’t save the world’. That it is an endless cycle and that the common denominator is him as an acting agent. My point is: he should have realised that their existence kept causing Apocalypse’s, he shouldn’t have just been told.
I actually agree with this ... felt a bit of a let down ! i did enjoy it but 5 was not 5 lol - should have had 4 more episodes but its like the studio has had enough and cut it it too 6 not 10 !
I think it had some really good qualities, and I applaud them for going for "the bad ending" when most shows wouldn't. That doesn't mean I agree with the ending, I just think it was a gutsy move that you don't see that often in narratives, it was refreshing to see but also unsatisfying. As for the whole season, it definitely felt rushed, but it also felt slow at the same time with a lot of filler. I think they DEFINITELY needed more episodes. But the worst thing I think the ending did was make Five and Diego fight the whole last episode. You have to UNITE your cast in the final episode, not start a complex drama that you'll end in that episode, AND THAT EPISODE IS THE SERIES FINALE. Overall, I wouldn't say it was the worst possible ending for the show, but not the best, and that's just a bit of a shame. I honestly think there's a lot of thematic depth to unwrap, but that won't change the fact that it's an unsatisfying ending. If I was a bigger fan, I would be more upset. But I'm pretty casual with the show, so I'll thank it for entertaining me for four seasons but I don't know if I'll look back on this as one of my all time favorites because of the ending.
I loved it. It made sense. It became clearer and clearer they were always the cause of an apocalypse, over and over no matter what they did. It wasn’t a surprise at all when five found that out. This ending seems like a logical one. Obviously, it’s a sad ending and wish it didn’t have to end that way, but again, it makes sense. And I’m so relieved we finally found out what the Jennifer incident was!

The stupidest thing at the end for me was how all the kids still existed when everything was done, i mean they did a whole intro explaining the grandfather paradox, how come that didn't apply? And the final shot they give us basically said "Oh btw after all that, marigold still exists in this timeline, peace out", what a spit in the face..
Just seen the first episode only and I felt it was so weird and just off and silly for the heck.of being silly or trying hard to be quirky because that what was expected? I don't know I think the are the best season is 1 then 2then 3 then 4 judging just by the first episode

Tbh this was a really mid season they could’ve given a better insiders look to gene and jean, and they also didn’t anwser tons of questions from last season we got no screen time from the sparrows ( other then the “pheonix academy”) sloan was never looked into other then being brought up a few times from luther, and also diago didn’t even get to say bye to his kids if there was 10 eps that would’ve been much better (thehing i liked the most was that end scene with alll the past characters like the familes, the sweedes, the handler, etc

After watching this season yesterday, i was so confused. For example, we got to discover what the Jennifer incident was about, and some questions were answered, but the multiple timelines thing will always be hard to manage correctly. Different personalities in the body of people they used to know leading them to act as if they actually were them was a little hard to watch. I also wanted the powers modifications to be explained, but this season only being 6 episodes long, i instantly knew it was going to be rushed and bring more questions than answers. I used to love this show so much :(
This show left me so sad at the end and I, gonna explain why I hate how they slowly altered some of the characters throughout the show Luther, Diego, and Allison we’re all terrible victims of this. Luther used to be this smart leader like guy then they turned him into an absolute punching bag in the last two seasons. Diego used to be a bonehead but he was also a badass smart vigilante, the directors took it apon them selfs to turn hum into the punching bag of the season for no reason this time. And Allison used to be a kind smart person then they turned her into a selfish villain. They also destroyed the development of five with his relationship with Laila, although it made sense being stuck in the apocalypse people begin to fall in love just like how he did with Delores it was incredibly stupid in my opinion considering they literally wanted to rip each others heads off. Although klaus was a comedic relief character this season, as always it was pointless usually the scenes were he was doing stuff against his will was comedic and had meaning but they left him with nothing although he was a funny character he was also deep and had layers in season 1 and 2 mainly focusing around his love of Dave. Viktor was the only character who developed perfectly, five had great development until this season. By season 3 all of the villains were gone. Hazel and cha cha, the Swedes, and the handler were all amazing villains and produced some of the greatest scenes in the whole show, the donut shop, the department store, the raid on the academy, the bowling alley ,five, Diego, and Laila vs the Swedes, five vs the board of directors, and the final battle in season 2. And personal scenes with the characters hazel and cha Chas banter, the Swedes scene when they honored his brother, and five and the handlers creepily comedic relationship . The show took a big hit getting rid of the commission and opted for impending doom as the villain. They had reg for 2 seasons and couldn’t seem to find a way to incorporate him as a villain considering how smart he is. Finally, they ran out of ideas and lost touch with its original vision, the first two seasons had a touch I almost can’t describe, it was funny, it was serious, and it was magnificent. The first season with Reginald dying the kids getting back together then five arriving talking to them about the world ending and them preventing it for the first season was perfect. I liked them getting separated and finding their own in the second season then having to find their way back to save the world. I liked the subtle things like Luther being a boxer, Diego going crazy for trying to prevent the assassination JFK, Allison being a activist, klaus starting a cult and vanya forgetting everything then remembering it in a beautiful and magnificent scene. They also sent off spirit Ben in a beautiful and touching way too. The final fight between the commission and the academy was awesome. After they finished that arc i felt like there was almost no creativity put into the last two season and it felt like they wanted to get it over with. Sad to see my favorite tv show ever end like this , I know I yapped hella and some of this may not even make sense but I just wanted to speak on this rlly badly lmao 😂 Ps to the creator this was a great video and I was glad to watch it and feel the same way as others !
There was so much left out. This season didn't touch on Sloan, Ray, Reginald and his backstory, Jennifer's backstory, and left Pogo out almost completely. Klaus' story line was completely pointless, and Five's character is getting dragged though the mud for the Lila incident. It seemed so rushed. The Five/Lila incident was the only one I respected, as that would be something that, after being stuck with someone for 6 years, you would start to look at as a love interest. I thought it seemed like he genuinely loved her and was obviously upset to see her go back to Diego, who complained about her constantly. The story just wasn't given time to develop. It started going downhill last season with the Sparrows, but this seasn just killed it, literally. I hope they make a spin off w Five and The Commission or something. I just felt badly for the actors, it wasn't fair to ANY of them that they were not able to finish telling their character stories😢 It needed all 10 episodes
I honestly thought they were going to pull a Bioshock Infinite and that gene and jean were the same person just different versions from different timelines.

season 4 was sooo bad and was just soooo wrong😭😭 i loved luther and diego this season cause i had a blast with them and of course klaus is always fun even allison was good this season (much better than s3) and viktor had one of the only good arcs of all the characters. five and lila were the low low low points of the season which is so weird for this show cause especially five has usually been the best character every season…. the best season was definitely season 2 though!
It was great the see them all again, and I LOVED the last episode, bitter sweet. Hollywood can't write anything good at the moment. Woke, politics, inserting yourself in the movies, representation, writers wanting to be lead writers NOW, all workers infected with DEI and ESG (cameraman, directors, stunts, actors, ALL TRADES have been infected and competency rooted out of production to follow DEI rules and mark checkboxes) I particularly hated how men where naked and VERY DUMB. Hargave = dumb as whole, moon monkey = naked and dumb, knife man = hyper dumb and cocked, teleport boy = naïve and dumb, while women where intelligent, strong, solid, and better then men. Even if it was a BAD season, it's the best hollywood can give at the moment and it was bitter sweet to see them one last time. God I love the first two seasons when men AND women where equal.

I hate how the writers ruined Five's character. I personally think it would be better if what split the timeline instead of the whole family, just be Five's initial jump to 2019. This results in Five having to be the one to die to stop the loops of apocalypses allowing the others to live and Five to truly have peace and have a heroic sacrifice.

I literally grew up with TUA and was so excited for this season. It was a letdown, I was so ready to see the siblings be hunted down for being in a timeline they weren't supposed to be. Because that's what the trailers made it look like. The relationship between Lila and Five always seemed like a frienemies, the love relationship felt like seeing 2 siblings kiss.
Ben could've had so much potential. And when they got their powers back we barely ever get a run down of what's new

If that's the case though, then why wouldn't the Hargreeves' alternate selves that *didn't* get absorbed show up anyway?

If the whole shtick is that the UA is wiping themselves from existence and making it so that it was like they were never born to begin with - what *possible*" rationale could there be for Claire and Diego and Lila's kids to be alive? Their parents never existed now, so their existence is an anomaly WAY outside the scope of anything the UA itself ever achieved (which, ironically, is more of a justification for The Cleansing than anything else we get in S4).
This is the problem w/ adding a multiversal narrative to an already complex time travel story. It just spiraled out of control into pure incoherence.

Nope. The show was cancelled kinda. Do to the reception of season 3, Netflix cancelled the show but they were still given a chance. The show was supposed to have 7 seasons but since it was cancelled, season 4 was just wrapping the whole story which also explains why sloane and the other Ben were cut out of the story. Really unfortunate. Another reason to hate Netflix.

The sad thing abt the love triangle part, is that , I don't recall Five ever apologizing to Diego at the END. And now that they just dislike each other at the end, where five doesn't even says sorry is sad to me. And the fact the there were so many plot holes and the information that we've gotten. It felt so rushed and I really dislike that Five and Lila kissed.
They did more than kiss in those last few years inside Dystopian Train Station. Gross.

The whole subway train that travels through timelines didn’t have a lot to add to the story, other than making Lila and Five fall in love, which was obviously one of the worst decisions made in this season and very unnecesary. The only other time when this was useful, was when Five went to the café where all the other Fives explained to him what was the actual conflict. That was it.

Nope both were completely out of character. Klaus completely regressed as a character, Reginald did absolutely nothing and had no big plan, Luther was even more of an idiot. Ben snd Jennifer was just awful. Diego was fine I guess. Victor was stupid but ok. Shockingly Allison was the best in the whole season. This season is one of the worst final seasons of tv of all time.

I binged the first season in under two days that's how much I loved it. This season didn't even feel like it was the same show AT ALL. Every character's personality, the dialogue, the humor, the music, the emotional weight, a cohesive plot. It was GONE. The first episode was so terrible I was in shock.

While Five’s character was done the worst, Ben was also insufferable to me this season. He literally caused everything this season. Too stubborn to stay away from Jennifer for 5 minutes to listen and figure something out. Not to mention he was the one to give the Umbrella crew the Marigold against their will in the 1st place. They were just fine without powers living normal lives. But instead they were erased from existence all because of Ben.

The scene when they exposed us the number of time that the team tried to save the world from apocalypse makes me wondering "what's the point of all of that then ?"
That feeling of the never ending cycle was honestly imo consistent and explains why the apocalypse follows then. They could've explained The Clense better since at the end it's kinda just thrown out there that Reggies wife is correcting the timeline since she shouldn't have been brought back or was correcting his biggest error which was creating the super powered kids to do the whole new universe thing.

The whole Five and Lila storyline just felt iffy and to end with Diego and Five figting over her was disappointing. I also wished they stayed together more because they always split up and do their own thing.

Season 4 just felt like they fired everyone responsible for the first two seasons and hired bad writers.
I mean Season 3 wasn't *that* bad. It didn't hit the heights of S1 & 2, no doubt, but I'd have been perfectly fine w/ the open-ended ending it gave us. Better that than... whatever the f**k this is.
Hot take: Season 2, while not being straight-up bad, isn't that great either. It feels like a different (and not as good) show than the first season.
I liked season 3 apart from some pacing issues, but the first 2 were definitely better. It wasn’t as great but I still thought season 3 was good, and worth my time. I wasn’t necessarily unsatisfied but I wasn’t touched like I was in the first two seasons. As for season 4…I was unsatisfied, disappointed, and upset for reasons show creators wouldn’t want their viewers to be upset with.
There are hundreds of problems with S4. What I hated the most was how Five betrayed his own brother, Diego, and that they died hating each other. Also, what’s up with Lila not liking bracelets? She used the one Diego made in the psychiatric hospital. God, how horrible.
this was genuinely the worst season of the Umbrella Academy, poor writing leading to the incohesive story just made it unwatchable at times

Something no one seems to mention is the fact that Luther shouldn’t have got back his ape body back. I think the writers completely forgot that his original body was human and he still had super strength but his body got damaged on a mission so he has his body swapped with a space alien ape thing.
A complete seperate thing that has nothing to do with his powers. 😂
my biggest gripe, aside from the obvious, is the fact their powers simply do not make sense or follow previously established (or even new) rules, and what powers do have set rules are vastly underutilised - I thought it was so so obvious that Five was gonna use his new interdimensional train to stick Ben and Jessica in different universes without the other particle thingy so that they couldn't come into contact. like... bruh. theres no way their powers were used effectively here. Also. What's up with Allison's powers? She can control minds but also she has telekinesis now becuase... why not? also Lila's laser eyes made no sense and were not used at all. Also who gets the same powers who doesn't? Klaus does... what exactly? not even just with his powers but what's the relevance of his plot pointsin the overall grand scheme?
I'm also mad that there's this sort of implicit message in the end where it's all like "so. you know these kids who were neglected and abused? yeah turns out this was all their fault for existing and the only way for things to be right is for them to kill themselves" which is a bit... icky. there's so many ways they could have handled it to have the same outcome in the end but man. this was not it.
I did love stripper luther , luther and diego's brolationship and the diner scene with five, but that's about it.
Diego and Luther hanging out, just being bros, was honestly one of the few highlights for me as well. Especially seeing the growth from Diego feeling jealous of Luther being leader. Though the show seems to forget this and instead portray Diego as eager to follow even as a teen. When I seemed to recall him being competitive and more so would’ve been volunteering to get everyone ready and hurt when shot down that that isn’t his position.
Idk it’s a highlight but as I typed they kind of ruined it.

Five needs to be driving the plot forward. When he is sidelined, season 3 and 4, everything unravels. I did like that the technology was current once the timeline was cleansed, no longer stuck in the 80's. My remaining questions..What happened to the other kids that were born that day? Why did Ben not tell Klaus his dad shot him when he was a ghost? Why did the timeline reset and Reginald have no memories where the others did? Why was the girl in a squid? Why didn't the wife give Jennifer the Marigold, instead of having the others ingest it again? What did happen to Sloane?

I think that since season 2, he's realised that he let his father control him too much and in season 3 and 4 he no longer has to be number 1, and can just be his goofy self. Thank you! It felt like the writers were torturing him, it was actually very frustrating to watch. He loses his wife (which is never resolved), he’s a stripper that performs in a costume of what he used to be, he’s squatting in the condemned ruins of his childhood home which is a manifestation of his wasted potential and inability to move on, hes forced back into the body he hated himself for despite it making no sense for him to get the gorilla body back from the marigold, he’s treated as the butt of the joke and a fuckup the entire season, and when he tries to have a heartfelt moment with his family before he dies they just shit all over him. It wasn’t fun to watch, it was painful and just made me feel terrible for the guy. Not once is he given a chance to prove himself as the leader he could’ve been and one of the only scenes we see of him being competent in happens in an elevator off screen lol
I mean from what I’ve read people hated all of that. I know I did. I don’t think there was a single thing I liked or that was handled well this season. Everything that was built up in the first 3 seasons was thrown away. All the characters were butchered. Five went from being the best character to just awful. It wad a mess. All of it. And god, yes, I hated the romance between Lila and Five the most. It made me uncomfortable.

So many questions!! Where was Sloane? Why was Jennifer found in a squid? Weren't there like WAY more children born from hargrieves actions so Why were only the core 7 + Lila required as a sacrifice to reset the timeline and not every single one of them.
The last one makes sense actually: the core 7+Lila only had to let themselves get taken, so the other ones got taken as well, they just didn't know it was a sacrifice they had to make

I think in this timeline there was no other marigold beyond what the group found and was presumably a relic from another timeline that Ben then spiked them with so there wouldn't have been others that needed to destroyed along with the main ground, they didn't exist in this timeline. But then this creates a plothole of where the hell Lailas parents came from and why didn't any of others have parents?
Overall I liked the season. I would have changed the ending though. Instead of them non-existing, have them be born at different times without the marigold and have them eventually find each other. Like Luther and Allison are now married and have a daughter named Claire. Have 5 meet a girl named Delores, who happens to be the daughter of the Handler and sister to Lila, who marries Diego. Let Viktor be a star violinist like he always wanted who's best friends with Ben and Jennifer.

I think people and reviewers are failing to understand that although with this season’s many plot holes and lack of character development it ultimately due to Netflix not allowing the show runners to not have their usual 10 episodes and only giving us 6. Im grateful Netflix didn’t just cancel the series and gave us some kind of ending/resolution at least but I think it was a huge miss on their part not allowing them to flesh out this season like the previous 3 😢

One thing that really pissed me off was Allison in episode 3 saying that 'she was tired of being the villain in this family' and none of the family telling her that what she did was fucked up. After all the awful shit Allison did in season 3 like killing Harlan, assaulting/SA'ing Luther and just how awfull she was being in general, it pisses me off so much that Allison acts like she's being treated as a villain for no reason. There was not even an one on one scene with Luther and Allison where she apologises for what she did or even one scene where Allison feels bad for her actions from season 3. She just acts entitled and arrogant still. Like Allison got everything she ever wanted (both Ray and Claire), while her siblings lost a lot (Viktor lost Harlan twice, Luther lost Sloanne, Ben lost the entire Sparrow family, Diego and Lila lost Stan).
The only thing we got was Viktor telling Allison they're not friends, but even that went nowhere.
I feel like the timeskip fucked any character development and scenes that could have happened as a result of Alison's decisions. It's like the whole family just forgave her off screen or something.
I also feel like the Ben and Jennifer incident was also a plothole maybe. We know that Klaus used to talk with the original Ben after he passed. Did Ben never talk about the fact that their own dad killed him? Like I get that the other characters had their memories messed with, but Ben should have still been able to tell klaus what happened to him. Even if Ben didn't know that it was their dad that shot him, he should still remember he suddenly died after saving Jennifer right? I can believe Klaus forgetting, but still.

Klaus got Dave, the sparrows and other kids born from marigold got their own happy lives, Diego and Lila got their family including Stan, past characters got their happy ending, Five got a real Delores, umbrella Ben was back (because let’s be real, sparrow Ben SUCKED), and Allison could’ve sacrificed herself for this as a character arc for all the terrible crap she’d done…

Given the fact that the one-armed Five at the end of season 3 is clearly the Five that founded the commission, I think that we can say that the original Umbrellas died in Hotel Oblivion (apart from Five that somehow jumped away) and this is just a weird spinoff about different characters created with the same memories.

They just really handcuffed his character this season by having him be terrified by his mortality and then being a literal ghost sex slave for so much of the season. Klaus was so far from the plot for most of the season that I don't think his character could tell you what happened by the end of it.
@@kyubi_9405 I think they also wrote themselves into a corner because they couldn't really have Luther be the one living in Allison's basement without continuing the whole toxic thing they have going on and spitting on the Sloan story line (which they did anyway by barely mentioning it). So they had to have Luther pick Ben up from jail which clearly should have been Klaus to anyone who watched the first 3 seasons. And then to cover for it, they had to make up some junk about how "Klaus always relies on Allison and Allison loves it because she gets to feel like a hero for being there at his rock bottom." But that never really happened. Other than a bit in season 2, they really didn't even interact much. I think they swapped Klaus and Luther really late in the writing process and couldn't quite write it to make sense.

Season 4 truly screwed up the characters..Luke should have had a good character development by finding some resolution to Solan but he stayed being a side character through the season, Klaus had character regression, the only one who had character development/ closure was Victor. He was the only one. I hate what they did to five, Lila, the whole love triangle was pointless, seriously it ruined the 3 characters. Five was so childish despite his age and became a home wrecker.He had so much potential but the direction that they took was terrible..

Let's compare the Fifth of the first three seasons and the Fifth in the fourth season:
1 Season: He lived in the apocalypse for 45 years and tried to survive in order to return and save his family.
2 Season: He cut down a whole group of people, although he didn't want to, but he had to, he was almost killed himself. And it's all for the family.
3 Season: He was still doing it for the family. There he did not want to stop the apocalypse, because he from the future told him so and the Fifth had to make this decision. This season, he told Laila to stop torturing Diego, because he loves her very much.
Conclusion: The fifth, simply put, risked his life for the sake of his family and never gave up, even if it was difficult. He always tried to find a solution. ❤
And what we get in season 4: In episode 5, He just didn't give a damn about the family, decided to leave them, knowing what kind of situation would happen soon. He knows that Laila is his brother's wife and the mother of his nephews kisses her. Then she gets upset that Laila loves Diego. The fact that he spent 7 years with her in another timeline is not an excuse for what he did! He shouldn't have done it at all! He had to motivate Laila by the fact that a loving husband and children were waiting for her at home. He would never allow himself to kiss Lila, thereby hurting his brother. That's what that Fifth One would have done.....💔
For me, in Episode 5, the Fifth is a completely different person from a different timeline. And the real Five was able to find a way out, he and Lila didn't have any kisses, and they saved the world with the whole family.

WHY DID THEY END LAST SEASON SHOWING A SECOND BEN ON A TRAIN IN KOREA, AS IF ALL OF THE NON-BRELLIES WERE ALIVE W THEIR REGULAR FAMILIES IN THE RESET (after s3) UNIVERSE? What was the reason?!
Also, did all the magic nonbrellies get erased too? Cause there were like 20 more affected by marigold. Seems insane to decide as a group of 8 to permanently erase 20-some people from the life canon lol.

The thing about season three is that that was the Covid season. So when you consider that they had to stay basically on one small set and make a whole show… It’s kind of impressive that they were able to make it interesting and still pretty good. This year they had no excuse and no reason why it couldn’t be as good as season one and two.
The thing about five that annoys me is that it’s like they simply realized he was 65 and never had a love interest and wanted to give him one. Meanwhile, all those years he was working for the commission… They could’ve added in a real person he dated but never mentioned. I don’t get why they didn’t.
It’s funny because it didn’t even annoy me that it was with Lila because it’s not unbelievable that if you thought you were never going to see anyone else again you might convince yourself you were romantically interested just to get through the day like she said survival… but it didn’t affect the plot and it was only for two episodes… So it very much felt like they were trying to get us to not care about people in a mostly happy relationship dying (Diego and Lila).
Funny thing is I don’t think that’s what they were doing… I think they literally just wanted him to have a love interest. And I don’t get why if that was the only goal they didn’t just write in a character for a couple of episodes that he has a little quick relationship with. They could’ve even had it affect the plot somewhere like maybe she turns on them or something and Five realizes he’s never been in a relationship because it makes you not think clearly or something like that… That would be very five like.
Just so annoying to have something that major that literally could be plucked from the plot and wouldn’t change a single thing in the main overall story. You destroyed fives character and broke up a good couple for what? A few kissing scenes?

For me the greatest mistake it's that the season it's just six episodes. It restricted the growth of the characters and the depth of knowing them and why they are doing what they are doing. I also don't like a lot of loose ends of some topics.
Let's accept the fact that Fifth and Lyle didn't have a "relationship" for long anyway. They weren't even supposed to happen. Laila still wanted to go back to her family deep down, and she wasn't serious about the Fifth One. I think it was because they were around or a sense of affection.I am sure that the Fifth himself understood that he had done a bad thing when he kissed his brother's wife. At the end of the final episode, the Fifth and Laila decided to just stay friends, because she loves Diego anyway, which was proved when they joined hands. And when she held hands with Five, she most likely did it so that he would not feel lonely.
I am very offended that my boy, who never gave up, took dangerous risks, did everything to save his family, was turned into a man who took his brother's wife, just gave up and spat on his family..... 💔
Of course, I understand that he and Lila spent seven whole years in another timeline, but this is not a reason to give up and take his brother's wife away....
The fifth of the three previous seasons, on the contrary, would have been looking for a way out, would have motivated Laila by the fact that a loving husband and children were waiting for her at home.

What we learn this season is the characters of umbrella academy wasn’t dysfunctional. It was truly the writers….
I feel like pushing the season timeline six years into the future was a scapegoat. For the writers not to address important, storylines as a whole. And it makes me feel like they don’t take characters like Diego or Luther seriously as characters. Lila and Allison became almost a crutch from the the ending episodes of season 3 to the entirety of season four for me.
It's a crime not to mention that this was also the most grotesque season ever. We saw way too many intestines. Allison nuked that guys balls. People were being dismemberment and disemboweled left and right. It was disgusting. We got bits of that in past seasons, but nothing like this.
Wasn't crazy about season 1. Then watched season 2 and enjoyed it so I went back and watched 1 again. Then three came out. I really wasn't impressed. I felt that the sparrow academy was just cannon fodder. It had some good scenes but I felt like it betrayed a few characters. Luther who was so in love with Allyson in season one and two now meets a new girl and marries her ib about a weeks time. Was he really that in love with being "in Love' and the character of Allison. She went over to the dark side. Now the fourth season was awful, disappointing and a waste of my time and effort. They had all the characters separated too much in my opinion. With only 6 episodes they should have had more whole family scenes. Then we have a 6 year time jump so we get no answers about anything. Diego and Lila now have three kids-we see one who is 7 but they only mention the twins in passing and we never see them. Ben is in prison....where did the boy from the train go? I always believed that Five respected Lila but having them have an affair? I know it was six years but are we saying a male and female cannot be together for years and just be friends. This also makes me have less respect for 5-sleeping with his brothers wife. So much for family above all else. Same for Lila. It gave me the willies. Then everyone dying at the end. Isn't there more marigold kids? Did the monster just die when the ben/jen monster ate everyone? What happens to Reginald and his wife. They just get eaten too. So bad and I have had it on my calendar for over a week. I wish I hadn't watched it or it had ended after the third season.
This season was so disappointing, especially for a finale. Where was Sloane and Ray? They never gave us ANYTHING on them, and they were mentioned only briefly in the story. Also five and lila were just so icky..

Honestly, the fact that we now know that timelines can be erased and multipled etc. did take away some of the impact of that ending for me. Because them sacrifising themselves at the end is just what happens in one timeline.
Also, this is a group of people who grew up extraordinary with training that would definetly qualify them to hunt down and stop apocalypses from happening in every timeline. All of them hated being ordinary and living ordinary lives. So why not just have them accept their fate and keep jumping timelines so that every time they set off an apocalypse their mission would, in every timeline, be to find out how to stop it?
While there was some things I liked in this season, overall I was very disappointed. I didn’t have nearly as much fun or interest in this season nothing hooked me in at all. Even though season 3 wasn’t the best it still was a fun season for me and I enjoyed it for what it was but this season wasn’t it for me. It was rushed (only 6 episode? Really?) some storylines I hated, just overall I wasn’t impressed, and this means a lot coming from someone who rarely ever doesn’t like shows/movies.
This just proves to me that Netflix can’t get good writers for shit, either cuz they won’t pay them or because they’re incompetent

In the café with all the Five’s, it shouldn’t have been them searching for a way to end things and one Five exposition dumping to our main that it is hopeless. OG Five should have looked around him and see all those Five’s trying to stop their own apocalypses, just like he is doing, only then realising what the Commission Five ment with ‘Don’t save the world’. That it is an endless cycle and that the common denominator is him as an acting agent.
My point is: he should have realised that their existence kept causing Apocalypse’s, he shouldn’t have just been told.
I actually agree with this ... felt a bit of a let down ! i did enjoy it but 5 was not 5 lol - should have had 4 more episodes but its like the studio has had enough and cut it it too 6 not 10 !

I think it had some really good qualities, and I applaud them for going for "the bad ending" when most shows wouldn't. That doesn't mean I agree with the ending, I just think it was a gutsy move that you don't see that often in narratives, it was refreshing to see but also unsatisfying. As for the whole season, it definitely felt rushed, but it also felt slow at the same time with a lot of filler. I think they DEFINITELY needed more episodes. But the worst thing I think the ending did was make Five and Diego fight the whole last episode. You have to UNITE your cast in the final episode, not start a complex drama that you'll end in that episode, AND THAT EPISODE IS THE SERIES FINALE. Overall, I wouldn't say it was the worst possible ending for the show, but not the best, and that's just a bit of a shame. I honestly think there's a lot of thematic depth to unwrap, but that won't change the fact that it's an unsatisfying ending. If I was a bigger fan, I would be more upset. But I'm pretty casual with the show, so I'll thank it for entertaining me for four seasons but I don't know if I'll look back on this as one of my all time favorites because of the ending.
I loved it. It made sense. It became clearer and clearer they were always the cause of an apocalypse, over and over no matter what they did. It wasn’t a surprise at all when five found that out. This ending seems like a logical one. Obviously, it’s a sad ending and wish it didn’t have to end that way, but again, it makes sense. And I’m so relieved we finally found out what the Jennifer incident was!

The stupidest thing at the end for me was how all the kids still existed when everything was done, i mean they did a whole intro explaining the grandfather paradox, how come that didn't apply? And the final shot they give us basically said "Oh btw after all that, marigold still exists in this timeline, peace out", what a spit in the face..

it was not good. they made it like, we're trying to watch a bad version of the german show "dark" and the awful 4th season of "the boys". it was such a let down, a cliché and boring. it was not the umbrella academy we love. i do not wanna remember anything from this season. i'll go back watch the first 3 and ignore this one forever. 👎👎👎

Tbh this was a really mid season they could’ve given a better insiders look to gene and jean, and they also didn’t anwser tons of questions from last season we got no screen time from the sparrows ( other then the “pheonix academy”) sloan was never looked into other then being brought up a few times from luther, and also diago didn’t even get to say bye to his kids if there was 10 eps that would’ve been much better (thehing i liked the most was that end scene with alll the past characters like the familes, the sweedes, the handler, etc
Totally agree with most things you said. Klause and 5, sigh. And the paradox of the kids and families being left alive even though parents don’t exist. And how many bullets were fired and no none ever really got too hurt
After watching this season yesterday, i was so confused. For example, we got to discover what the Jennifer incident was about, and some questions were answered, but the multiple timelines thing will always be hard to manage correctly. Different personalities in the body of people they used to know leading them to act as if they actually were them was a little hard to watch. I also wanted the powers modifications to be explained, but this season only being 6 episodes long, i instantly knew it was going to be rushed and bring more questions than answers. I used to love this show so much :(

I hate how they slowly altered some of the characters throughout the show Luther, Diego, and Allison we’re all terrible victims of this. Luther used to be this smart leader like guy then they turned him into an absolute punching bag in the last two seasons. Diego used to be a bonehead but he was also a badass smart vigilante, the directors took it apon them selfs to turn hum into the punching bag of the season for no reason this time. And Allison used to be a kind smart person then they turned her into a selfish villain. They also destroyed the development of five with his relationship with Laila, although it made sense being stuck in the apocalypse people begin to fall in love just like how he did with Delores it was incredibly stupid in my opinion considering they literally wanted to rip each others heads off. Although klaus was a comedic relief character this season, as always it was pointless usually the scenes were he was doing stuff against his will was comedic and had meaning but they left him with nothing although he was a funny character he was also deep and had layers in season 1 and 2 mainly focusing around his love of Dave. Viktor was the only character who developed perfectly, five had great development until this season.
By season 3 all of the villains were gone. Hazel and cha cha, the Swedes, and the handler were all amazing villains and produced some of the greatest scenes in the whole show, the donut shop, the department store, the raid on the academy, the bowling alley ,five, Diego, and Laila vs the Swedes, five vs the board of directors, and the final battle in season 2. And personal scenes with the characters hazel and cha Chas banter, the Swedes scene when they honored his brother, and five and the handlers creepily comedic relationship . The show took a big hit getting rid of the commission and opted for impending doom as the villain. They had reg for 2 seasons and couldn’t seem to find a way to incorporate him as a villain considering how smart he is.
Finally, they ran out of ideas and lost touch with its original vision, the first two seasons had a touch I almost can’t describe, it was funny, it was serious, and it was magnificent. The first season with Reginald dying the kids getting back together then five arriving talking to them about the world ending and them preventing it for the first season was perfect. I liked them getting separated and finding their own in the second season then having to find their way back to save the world. I liked the subtle things like Luther being a boxer, Diego going crazy for trying to prevent the assassination JFK, Allison being a activist, klaus starting a cult and vanya forgetting everything then remembering it in a beautiful and magnificent scene. They also sent off spirit Ben in a beautiful and touching way too. The final fight between the commission and the academy was awesome. After they finished that arc i felt like there was almost no creativity put into the last two season and it felt like they wanted to get it over with.
Sad to see my favorite tv show ever end like this , I know I yapped hella and some of this may not even make sense but I just wanted to speak on this rlly badly lmao 😂

There was so much left out. This season didn't touch on Sloan, Ray, Reginald and his backstory, Jennifer's backstory, and left Pogo out almost completely. Klaus' story line was completely pointless, and Five's character is getting dragged though the mud for the Lila incident. It seemed so rushed. The Five/Lila incident was the only one I respected, as that would be something that, after being stuck with someone for 6 years, you would start to look at as a love interest. I thought it seemed like he genuinely loved her and was obviously upset to see her go back to Diego, who complained about her constantly. The story just wasn't given time to develop. It started going downhill last season with the Sparrows, but this seasn just killed it, literally. I hope they make a spin off w Five and The Commission or something. I just felt badly for the actors, it wasn't fair to ANY of them that they were not able to finish telling their character stories😢 It needed all 10 episodes
I honestly thought they were going to pull a Bioshock Infinite and that gene and jean were the same person just different versions from different timelines.
