You are the sweetest!! This just popped up on my feed - you did a wonderful job, and the cages look awesome! 😍 definitely staying tuned for the walkway idea. I think that sounds amazing.
@@Shady_oaks_rabbitry that’s so exciting! Best of luck on your adventure! She helped me a ton with everything Show related and of course her hutch designs were brilliant, I got started with American blues about two years ago. It’s been such a fun experience
I think this hutch is great 😄 But these buns should not walk on wire, it is really bad for their feet. I would just fix that really quick. Other than that, great jobb😆
@@carolcotton6204 they get extremely thick fur in the winter and don’t require heating of any sort. I do close it up in the winter to keep the wind off them, but that’s it.
Quick comment... fixing to build my hutch. I’ve purchased cages and see that you set yours directly on the wood. Any issues? So many saying to hang and such.
There is a bit of urine build up on the wood, but outside of that, I haven’t had a problem. I would think that would happen even if the cages are hung though. I’m having more of an issue with the plastic feet mats I put inside the cages to give their feet a rest from the wire. Those mats catch all the hay and poop and just let it build up, they’re awful.
Hi, what's that thing called you put the color purple or violet around the edges of the door? Thank you. And your hutch for the bunnies are perfect. 030522
Great question! The purple plastic things around the door edges are called cage door guards. They protect you and your buns from the sharp wire edges. 😊
@@FarmGirlInProgress Thanks. I'm also doing my DIY dual rabbit cage and the edges of the door have sharp edges from the cut. Then I saw your video that's why I asked. Thanks. I'm just worried for my rabbits might have cuts from the edges. Thanks.
This was my original hutch before I built our rabbitry, it was only this way for about a month. I highly recommend checking out my winterizing video here: ua-cam.com/video/FAs9Mfs3FEU/v-deo.html 😊

How do you keep them worm in the winter? Can you use a heater in an enclosure?

I like the design. What type of rabbit and where did you find them.
The bulk of my herd is American Blue. I got them from a breeder in Ohio who was retiring from the business. I’m now breeding them.
